My God the lakers are terrible. Wow
|
North Dakota got burnt too. They can't be the "Fighting Sioux" becasuse they put it on the ballot after the NCAA threatened them. I think the taxpayers just didn't want the legal fight.
The NCAA said the team would have to forfeit games if they used the name in the NCAA Tourney (hockey). They're a championship-caliber team too. I remember the same threats against the FSU Seminoles in the NCAA basketball tourney. They could not use their name or mascot anywhere during tournament play. It's a tribe name, of a tribe in Florida. What is offensive? I hate this crap. I really hate it because so many people are giving into it and they'll never stop harassing the Redskins. U of Miami in Ohio has already changed from the Redskins to the stupid name of the Redhawks. Why are people making up types of hawks? Redhawks? Seahawks? Hawks should sue. No one wants angry hawks. Yep. I love watching it too! Bulls are already having a great year. Derrick Rose is resuming workouts now. They'll be unstoppable when he comes back. |

Re: 2012-13 Around the NBA thread
Sacramento deserved better. This is just like the Browns moving to Baltimore
|
Re: 2012-13 Around the NBA thread
Except the Browns actually had a long history and success in their league.
I'm sure Kansas City felt just as cheated when Sacramento "stole" their team too. This is a franchise that has never been able to find a true home or success. With the Lakers, Clippers and Warriors in CA, the Kings just didn't have much of a following. I don't think Seattle necessarily needs a team, because if they had supported the Sonics and made ir more profitable for them to stay, they would not have lost the team in the first place. But, Stern wanted one thing before he retired, to be the man that brought a team back to Seattle. He's hoping that last act will somehow repair his legacy of unpopular decisions. |
Re: 2012-13 Around the NBA thread
Sacramento for most of the Kings' stay there has had among the best, most passionate fans with sell out attendance. It's like the Browns because one city is losing its beloved team to another city that lost their own beloved team
Stern did not want a team back in Seattle. He's not an advocate of this move |

Re: 2012-13 Around the NBA thread
He should have gone to Brooklyn. Better fit (no diva like Kobe to deal with) and better talent overall.
Plus, he would be the man in that town, not half the man like he is in his shared spotlight in LA. I question his effort too after his statements about wanting to get into acting after basketball. I guess that explains his choice of LA over any other team, but I think it also explains his recent lack of success. He's an impressive physical specimen, but I wouldn't want him on my team. He needs to be pampered to be happy. |

I've been watching the Wiz a lot more lately with Wall healthy again, and all I can say is that I wish he had gotten back sooner. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he took the time he did to get fully healthy, but this turned into a wasted season with him on the bench for 30+ games.

Thank you OKC for James Harden! :) Led by arguably the best backcourt in the NBA, I'm predicting the Rockets make it all the way to Western Conference Finals.

LOL isn't the point of your post saying that you think the Rockets will reach the Western Conference finals? Therefore they're going to have to play at least 1 of these teams to get there. Winning 1 game is easy; its 4 that's the challenge. I'm saying they won't win 4 games whenever they play either of those teams in the playoffs. |

The NBA is official dead to me. It has to be the bottom of the barrel sport right now.
NHL, NFL, MLB > NBA |
Re: 2012-13 Around the NBA thread
I've said it before and i'll stick with it again; Heat will lose a total of 3 games in the playoffs. They've lost 1 already. I say they lose 1 to the pacers and 1 to the spurs.
I would love to see the grizzlies upset the spurs but I don't see it. |
Otto Porter staying in the District? Wiz will have their big 3 soon.

They really need to get rid of this stupid lottery system. It's broken and it doesn't help the teams at the bottom. It's all built on chance and that's not a good system to get the worse teams better. There is no reason the Bobcats shouldn't be selecting #1 the past few years. Absolutely stupid. You guys speak of NBA sucking....well it does. Beyond the playoffs, the NBA is rather boring for the most part. They don't do enough to keep stars in small markets, they want 4-5 select teams to stay on top the majority of the time. They really need to fix it. |

The lottery system was already in place when the Spurs picked. The Celtics had the worst record the year that Duncan came out, and the Spurs had the third worst record in the NBA. |

Thank you for correcting his ignorance on the subject. The lottery has been around in the NBA for a long time. In fact, the first one was in 1985 and New York won the right to select Patrick Ewing. Granted, that old system was much worse than the one now. That said, it's STILL a horrible system for the NBA. |
How'd you come up with that theory?
before the lottery, that was a pretty prevalent theory...people tanking to get the best player. Basketball adds 1, maybe 2 true impact players a year. Why did they start the lottery, too shake it up? |
