Re: Least Favorite Player at Each Position During Snyder Era

Deion Sanders. The ONE player throughout my Skins history that I truly couldn't find myself rooting for. If he did something I had to force it into my brain "this is for the good of the team". He was the first "me first" guy I remember growing up and I hated him with such a passion.

Tony Romo took his place a few years ago, but for a while Deion was the person I hated the most in pro sports.

Re: Least Favorite Player at Each Position During Snyder Era

I honestly cannot see how anyone could pick someone other than Haynesworth to top the list. A complete waste -- he didn't perform on the field, didn't make any effort (think of the 2 minute flop on the ground), and couldn't have been more class-less. Oh, and he had at least two legal issues off the field come up during his brief and disasterous tenure.

As much as I didn't like Sanders, he had some flashes (he had a pick-6 against the Rams the year after they won the superbowl and we beat them at home -- 2000, if I recall correctly, for example). And he wasn't a complete pill to the organization, but he wasn't a great teammate and was past his Prime(time). But Albert was HATED by his teammates and created a circus in the locker room, and that is utterly unforgivable.
love the list, but Pierce and Arrington?
Pierce partly because he trashed the organization after the Giants just outbid us. (We should have outbid the giants, but that's another issue). And partly just because he was a another chippy Giants player.

Lavar seemed happy going to Pro Bowls while the team stunk. But when Gibbs and Williams started coaching against freelancing and preferential treatment on the sidelines, suddenly Arrington wasn't happy. And our defense was better without him.

Add Lavar's trash-talking the coaches right before the playoffs in '05, and calling Gibbs a coward for leaving the team himself in '07 (in circumstances a lot different than L. "playbook" Arrington did)......

Actually in retrospect not bidding for Pierce worked out perfectly. Fletcher is still playing at a high level and Pierce is working in the studio despite being 3 years younger.

I dislike players where we drafted them too high, traded away too much, or killed our cap by paying them too much. That's not to say I didn't root for them to pan out. A few at the top of my list:

1. Albert Haynesworth - probably everyone's #1.
1a. Adam Archuleta - gave this bum the biggest Safety contract at the time and allowed Ryan Clark to walk for relative peanuts.
2. Heath Shuler - Top 5 picks that bust are franchise killers.
3. Desmond Howard - See Heath Shuler
4. Jason Taylor - wish we had that 2nd round pick back
5. Donovan McNabb - ditto
6. Brandon Lloyd - blame the FO for tearing up the final year of his contract and handing him millions. Never scored a regular season TD in burgundy and gold.
7. T.J. Duckett - Question to the FO - WHY?
8. Danny Weurfel - Didn't give up anything to get him, but he was still Spurrier's boy wonder.
9. Speaking of Spurrier - If I could put a coach on my least favorites list, it would be him. He took Snyder's millions, yet his heart was never all in.
10. Dana Stubblefield
11. Meion

Brandon Banks. If youre going to devote a roster spot to a return specialist, he atleast needs to be good. Banks has zero value on offense and negligbile value on special teams. every year i hope its the year the coaches finally decide hes not worth keeping... and ever year thecoaches keep him anyway. why?

I would say about Jeff George though, that I didn't ever really feel he was a bad person in my interactions with him. He was quiet and a bit of a loner, but not an a-hole by any means.

Bad combo for a QB.

I don't know that he was an a-hole, but he certainly didn't garner much respect from his teammates wherever he played.

Im holding personality out of this and based my list on what they did or did not do for the team. Haynesworth would ofcourse encompass all of that. Pierce - arrington - portis - guys like that may have rubbed some the wrong way but there are countless others at those positions that fit the bill better imo. I remember them taking Lavar out on third down plays all the time that last year he was here. almost seemed out of spite - power trip - to me?

We had a top 5 defense in '05 without Lavar, too. His knee injury was a legitimate issue, but Lavar trashed the coaches first for holding him out, then trashed them for putting him back in too early. Add his wanting to freelance in William's gap defense, how could you work with that guy? The Giants spent big money on him, and got practically nothing from him. Except a copy of our playbook.

Terrible combo. The whole Snyder/Cerrato/Turner/Johnson/George ordeal was one of the worst things I've seen. It was like a soap opera. And honestly the one person who acted the most "mature" about it at all from my perspective was George

any player on any NFL practice squad at any position. Seriously. Banks is a one trick pony thats not even good at his one trick. I would rather develop any player at any position that has multiple ways to contribute to the team than waste a roster spot on Banks.

The additional problem with banks is that, if you have him on the 53 as a returns specialist, you also have to have him on the gameday 46. So where as most teams have 46 "useful" players on their roster on gameday, we only have 45. if we used Banks rosterspot on someone who could also play DB/LB/DL/OL/TE/RB/WR, we'd have a player who could step in if one of our primary guys were injured. With Banks, youre not going to put him in on offense if Moss gets hurt. Instead, you'll play an extra TE. Banks is completely useless in every way possible.

Interesting. Well it wasn't his fault he was brought in. I'm sure in some respect it was awkward for him coming in with an already established guy here in Johnson.

It all started when Snyder fired Casserly. All downhill from there.

Agreed. I think a lot of the negativism towards LA is the type where people look and hate on him because he didn't seem to care enough to maximize his production relative to his talents. That always triggers a little more emotionalism from a certain set of people. Which I think is somewhat understandable.
