I gotta admit, my tinfoil cap is ringing because the league sure has picked some odd days to announce and/or enforce penalties on us this year. it's just odd....
why is today odd?
Not super odd, but we climb back to .500 ball, are coming off a big win, and look to make a run for these 4 games. Look at last year for example, we as fans knew about Trent and FD's suspensions several weeks before they took effect. Same with Seattle this year. But for us, the cap penalty, TJ's suspension, and now this all seemed to come out of the blue. Probably the Skins are just controlling the flow of the news a lot better, but that's why I said my tinfoil cap is ringing. Not completely serious |

Re: Cedric Suspended 4 Games
this is such bullsh*t ... adderall .. really ?? why are all the seahawks guys playing .. can anyone confirm he already appealed ? they said the same thing about the seattle guys, 4 games and boom they played ... still this is like snakebit city he was playing great ... btw i don't see the big deal about adderall ... every college kid takes em during exam week and it's just something that makes you focus .. big effin' deal ... worry about guys slamming steroids

Re: Cedric Suspended 4 Games
What about Phillip Buchanon?

Re: Cedric Suspended 4 Games
Are there any practice squad guys around the league that we could take a chance on? Obviously this hurts our weakest spot, but maybe we can find some workaholic type guy and take a chance on him.

They are playing because they haven't gone through their appeal process yet. Cedric has. He lost the appeal, and is now suspended. The same thing is going to happen to them when/if they lose their appeal. Most of the time you don't hear about them testing positive until after they've already gone through the appeal process. Lot of privacy involved. |
Re: Cedric Suspended 4 Games
Maybe Barry Wilburn can still play.
|
Re: Cedric Suspended 4 Games
Basically the only argument one can make is that it was prescribed. Even then the league hasnt always reduced the suspension. They're doomed

I like that idea.... Isaiah Frey with the Bears, go to the team that is loaded with talent at CB. 6'-0" 190 lbs Rookie, 22 yrs old. 4.4 40 yrd dash, rated 48/176 DB's coming out this year. COLLEGE CAREER: Attended Nevada (2008-11) where he was a three-year starter for the Wolfpack... Two-time all-Big East first-team selection... Played in 52 career games, making 39 starts... Tallied 141 tackles (100 solo), 1.0 sacks and 7.0 TFLs... Added 7 INTs, 38 PDs and 2 FFs... First-team all-WAC as a senior... Second-team all-WAC as a junior. |
How long do you have to appeal?
Edit: i know CG did already n lost but why would the Seahawks guys wait? I would rather face regular season opponents shorthanded than playoff caliber opponents. |

(and lost) Most of the time, we (the public) do not hear about suspensions or failed drug tests until after the appeal process is over. Hell, I think they have to fail 2 drug tests (which are never disclosed) before they are even up for a suspension. A ton of privacy in these matters. edit: The Seahawk guys have appealed. Which is why they played this past weekend. |
Re: Cedric Suspended 4 Games
I think this is one of the complaints that players have who are on ADD/ADHD medicine. I thought one of the complaints is some players are being allowed to use them by the NFL and others using the same drugs are being punished. There was not a clear reason why. When I heard it I thought maybe it had to do with the ones being allowed because they have doctors who prescribe them the medicine and the others don't but thats not the case. Some who are being punished do have doctors prescriptions.

their appeals haven't been heard yet. they can play until that is ruled upon. cg's hearing has been heard and denied. |

cg's hearing has been heard and denied.
Thanks. So CG probably failed his test first? Because we all knew about Seattles guys |
on the glass half full side, the next 4 games aren't against high powered offenses. clearly we will have struggles and see lots of 3rd and longs completed, but this isn't a knockout blow. and griffin will be back if we do get to a playoff game.
I could see still beating the browns and the eagles, I think the cowboys might be the hardest if bryant gets his act together. wouldn't be a skins season without drama... |
Thanks. So CG probably failed his test first? Because we all knew about Seattles guys
I am guessing that's the case, but also could be that the redskins were more circumspect with the info and only acknowledged it once the decision was final. instead of as soon as it was a likelihood of suspension along the lines of the seahawks. |

Well I think you are rite about these last four games being against lesser offenses and Griff comes back for the playoffs. Hope the Seahawks suspensions bite them in their ass for the playoffs. |

You are confusing your own self here. Cedric Griffin failed his drug test sometime back. He appealed. He was allowed to play during this time of appeal. He lost the appeal and was suspended after the appeal this week. The public had 0 knowledge of his failed drug test or appeal. The Seahawk guys failed their drug test. They are appealing. They are allowed to play until their appeal is heard. Their failed drug test was leaked to the public. The only difference here is, the public knew about the Seahawks failed drug tests. We didn't know jack shit about Cedric's failed drug test or his appeal process until after it was over. That clear? Shit can be confusing sometimes if you don't know how the process works. |
Re: Cedric Suspended 4 Games
Another fun fact about the drug policy. If a player is being suspended, it means that he has in fact failed TWO drug tests. Suspensions aren't levied until after a player has had 2 failed drug tests.
So Cedric Griffin has failed another drug test (either this team or his previous ones) prior to the one he's being suspended for. This is actually his 2nd offense he's being suspended for. Keep that in mind when you start saying....."he made a mistake". No, he made TWO mistakes.... If you don't hear about any appeal process, it means the process already occurred when the corrective measure is being handed down. Like I said, most of the failed drug tests are kept very quiet do to the legality of patient records and such. |
Re: Cedric Suspended 4 Games
Pretty dumb policy. Adderall is not performance enhancing, just helps you focus. Not sure why they would list this as a banned substance. Plenty of ppl take adderall, just helps you focus. I'm not condoning it, but it's not like taking steroids...
The only good thing is, he should be allowed to come back for our first playoff game... |

The fact that we knew about the Hawks and not CG, yet CG is already suspended and Hawks arent was confusing me. Understand the process - just wasnt in tune with the particulars in these two circumstances. |

The only good thing is, he should be allowed to come back for our first playoff game...
Adderal can give you added focus on and off the field. But is that actually what PED CG failed on? SS can correct me if I'm wrong, but the NFL is unique in that they are not allowed to disclose the specific PED. So players' agents leak "adderal" as the PED, if their client fails a test and appeal, when it probably is in fact steroids or hgh. I don't think adderall should be a PED but from what I understand it tends to be used as a cover up for "actual" PEDs. |

Adderal is a PED. It's one of the worse. These guy are high performance machines already.. Top of the line.. it's like putting jet fuel in to a motorcycle.
I actually take Adderal and it makes me so alert and energetic that I feel like if I was on it my whole life, then I would of accomplished 100% more in life. It's totally ridiculous for these athletes to take it. |

Re: Cedric Suspended 4 Games
Well, I'm excited to see Crawford play. He's gonna get schooled here and there, but right now the defense is swarming and playing with intensity. He's in a good situation to sharpen his teeth over the next four games.

Re: Cedric Suspended 4 Games
The question I have is, why do these players keep committing these dumb infractions thinking that they're going to get away with it? I like Cedric Griffin. He's a pretty decent corner and he plays the position better than J. Morgan or D. Hall. It's too bad he's let us fans down and his teammates down. I'm not sold on Richard Crawford replacing him. He had a great preseason against 2nd and 3rd stringers but he played poorly against the Cincinatti Bengals and haven't been seen since the Vikings game. I'm not too confident he can fill C. Griffin's cleats for the remainder of the season.
|
The NFL loves the Aderal thing lately huh. Makes it look like they're actually testing players and they care about PEDS but catch guys for a basically legal substance that doesn't do much so it doesn't look terrible on the league. Meanwhile half the league's on Dragon Growth Hormone but no one gets
caught. God I love the NFL and America so much. |

Probably because more get away with it than don't. And BECAUSE IT WORKS. Those that take PEDs do so BECAUSE THEY WORK. |
Re: Cedric Suspended 4 Games
Not too smart by the FO to know Cedric was going to be possibly suspended for a good while with Routt out there on the market. Really no logic behind that decision. Crawford is an inexperienced, raw corner who is not a better player than Routt. So there no arguement Crawford is a stronger player, he is clearly not or he'd be at least active for our games.

If anything, it made it worse. Will I write a better paper? Yes. Can I pull an all nighter hyperfocused? Absolutely. Can I run a better 40 time...or even react quicker to the ball? No chance. Albeit, it is from my own personal experience... I tend to be on the, "Adderall is not a PED", side of the argument. |
