Apparently a sprain involves a partial tear soooo... That's not good
thats not true.

If its just an MCL or PCL strain, which it could very well be, then he might be out next week, might not. If its ACL SPRAIN, then he will be out a minimum of next week, probably the week after as well.

Its not a tear, no way he would be walking unassisted and asking to go back into the game with an ACL tear. He could with an MCL tear, but usually an MCL tear doesn't require surgery, just time.

The MRI will tell, but with his activity after coming off the field, I think it looks like an MCL or PCL sprain, and he would then be about 50/50 to go for next week.

htownskinfan 12-09-2012 04:41 PM

Didnt get to see game
Just saw replay on Griff and I'm surprised his leg is still attached
No way he plays next week unless he really is Supernan
I'd be pleasantly surprised if he only misses a week, would not be surprised to see him out for yr

Welp, lots of emotions. Just an amazing win. I had given up, I'll admit. Shocked we won that game. If Rg3 is out for an extended period, I think we're in trouble. Not a knock against Kirk, but our whole offense is built around Rg3's speed an ability to buy time. Not sure we can flip right to a pocket passer and be successful. We'll see. NOT HAPPY they let Rg3 back in the game. That thing looked really serious, and as important as this game is, its not more important than the future, so not happy about that.

Otherwise, just awesome. Great feeling, awesome to see the whole team step up like that. Most improbable win in years. Even if we don't end up making the playoffs, this has been an awesome season and great turning of the corner for this franchise. Hail to the Redskins.

Did you guys see the knee when he got hit? Not trying to be negative but it did not look good.

This was my Xmas gift; playoffs or no playoffs this made my season! I hate the raven fan base!
Our coaches are teh same idiots who had Hall out there today, when they shouldn't have.
That's on the training staff and the player. Plus, D-Hall's skills have deteriorated significantly. Let's not confuse shittiness with injury.

All I can say is WOW... These past couple weeks - these are the type of games I am used to seeing us lose...halfway expect us to lose. Have to change that mindset.

Great job by the D in the last 2+ quarters, Great job by Cousins to come in cold and finish like that, Great job by Shanny making BB inactive today. Huge win!

I guess you could call this a successful year, one more win than last year.

My two year old and I just held hands an sent up prayers for RG III.

OM what a football game! That was amazing! Once again the D plays huge in the second half and holds a team to 7.

Going to have a heart attack if we win like that more! Really though a great effort by our guys. Cousins comin in threw off what the Ravens were doing defensively. That two point conversion was a shock to them and me!

Then we get Crawford with the big special teams play to make up for the almost season changing Paul TO.

Amazing football game and this season is really feeling special!

Btw how about RG III coming back to get us down the field. WOW! Cloud nine

Gtothearry 12-09-2012 04:45 PM
thats not true.
Exactly, it's stretched ligaments and not a partial tear. If it is a sprain....

Totally Mike and Kyle's fault letting RG3 back in the game, possibly getting hurt more. PLayers are expected to push themselves, coaches have to step up in that case.

No, didn't look good at all. Could just be a hyperextension - mild sprain. He is obviously in great shape, and that will likely play a big part in how serious it is.

(fingers crossed)

When RGIII comes back out of the locker room with no assistance, I think that is a good sign

Gtothearry 12-09-2012 04:48 PM

Sprain recovery is around 4 weeks.

redskins5044 12-09-2012 04:48 PM

Well we can see what cousins brings at worst and will probably see more of the Houston offense with Kirk

I'm certain they don't have an MRI machine in the locker room. MRIs are usually done on Monday, but it's possible he gets one tonight.

Yea, that's a good point. But remember, he went back in before the training staff had a good chance to look at him. After he came out, looks like he was given an evaluation, a brace, no crutches, and told to stand on the sideline.

I'm trying to be optimistic. Let's just see what his MRI says, and hope for the best. And Hall is still shitty.

Rex Grossman did play okay last year, If Cousins is active ahead of him it speak that he is better than Rex. Here's to KC playing well in relief and a speedy recovery for RG3! Need you in the playoffs!

redskins5044 12-09-2012 04:51 PM

I would almost guarantee he doesn't play the next two weeks, they could be winnable games without RG3. Have to look past this year though, if its just a strain then keep him out until he can be himself.

Mechanix544 12-09-2012 04:51 PM

re: Ravens at Redskins Post Game Thread (RG3 MRI Result-Sprained Knee)

I mean, if you want to argue semantics, any sprain/strain involves tearing of muscle/ligament/tendon fibers, but not the entire muscle/tendon/ligament itself, thereby not truly affecting the structure on the whole, or requiring surgery to repair said tendon/ligament.

With RG3 walking around without wincing every step, I would be very surprised if it was an ACL injury. I would put alot of money on a strain/sprain PCL or MCL.

cant speculate and say RG3 out the rest of the year. Lets wait for the official word. He's a special player, lets not count him out yet. Lets enjoy the win.

Coaching staff, Crawford and Forbath gets the praise today imo.

I'm still waiting to see this

@AdamSchefter
RG3 runs out of locker room performing cartwheels. Says he just wanted to give Cousins a chance to show what he could do. Announces run for President in 2028.

MTK 12-09-2012 04:53 PM

I know we have a lot of in-house doctors but lets wait and see what the real ones say.

Mike or Kyle should have kept RG3 on the sideline. They or their assistants had to have seen the replay of the knee getting extended on the big screen.

Honestly, Its not even this season I'm that worried about. I just don't want a long term thing thats gonna need surgery (acl). Even if he's out for the year.

That being said... if he was out 3-4 weeks... we now have at least 2 really manageable games. Although Cleveland is much better than I think people realize, and while they're bad, Philadelphia is playing much better... but these are games we maybe able to rely more on the rest of the team.

Give him magnets then send him to the chiropractor. After which send him to a herbalist to get his chi in order. Then he'll be like new.

Gtothearry 12-09-2012 04:55 PM

RGIII just walked by D. Young after coming from x-ray and said "Great Interview". So, he is in good spirits which is a good sign.
