I know he was leading the fan vote but I thought you had to get 2/3 of the votes between players/coaches/fans to get in.
Trent made it. So that's three Skins. Alfred and London are alternates.
I'm happy for Trent. Alfred Morris shouldn't be an alternate. He should be the starting halfback for the NFC. London should be starting too.
He was rated by PFF as one of the worst safeties this year. This is why Pro-Bowl doesn't mean jack shit to me. You have guys making it because of their "wow" factor and not for their actual play on the field.
It should be voted on by a panel. Fan voting should completely be removed from the equation.

AP, Lynch, and Morris.

To give the nfl some credit they allow articles on their site to acknowledge Saturdays inclusion is an example why fan voting sucks.

Could never see Stern allowing something like that on nba.com

We have the biggest game here in years and people are worried about who and who didn't make the Pro Bowl? This game and the selection process is a joke. Bring on Dallas!

Its really not that bad, 90% of the picks make sense to me.
Most really good players don't get selected their first year of high performance anyway....unless you play DE or if you have massive marketing exposure

Morris could break the Redskins all time rushing record with over 1500 yards and is a rookie to boot. I say he should start over Gore who is also a phenomenal RB.

Lol you crazy. I like Morris as much as the next guy, but what he's done pales in comparison to the year AD has had.

One interesting thing I just heard on ESPN is that RG3 is the first rookie qb since Dan Marino to make the original Pro Bowl roster. Take that Cam Newton!

Morris certainly ran hard this year. Sometimes players who make the pro bowl do so because of reputation. Sort of reminds me how former Dallas Cowboys strong safety Roy Williams made it a few times based on his reputation at the time when in fact Sean Taylor deserved to go to the pro bowl.

At the same time, you can have more than one RB in the Pro Bowl, and I would think Alfred Morris would have made it over the likes of Frank Gore.

The Pro Bowl is something that means more to the players than it should to the fans.

But as we are well aware the fans get their panties in a bunch over just about everything so...

I agree with this, I was just pointing out my belief that there is no way he should be starting over AD. There is certainly a case to be made for him taking Gore's spot.

MTK 12-27-2012 10:20 AM

Re: Redskins Pro Bowl Selections

It's tough for a rookie to be honored, Morris will get in next year if he keeps this up. I think it speaks volumes that RG3 made it in as a rook.

12thMan 12-27-2012 10:30 AM

Re: Redskins Pro Bowl Selections

I agree. It's no knock at all on Alfred Morris that he got beat out by three of the most prolific backs in the entire league. Of course AP was a lock, so he was really competing with The Beast and Gore.

I'd like to see him put up big numbers against Dallas.

I'd bet Peyton Manning and Tom Brady wouldn't? Or London Fletcher..

Re: Redskins Pro Bowl Selections

And if it's so whack why do teams and players get so outraged when a player they feel is deserving is overlooked?

If nothing else, it's a good way for players to approximate where they stand in relationship to their peers.

SmootSmack 12-27-2012 10:50 AM

Re: Redskins Pro Bowl Selections

London Fletcher takes it very personal

But there are a lot of players who treat the whole process as kind of a throwaway part of the season.

"Hey guys, remember you have to submit your Pro Bowl votes today"

'Oh shit, forgot about that. Hey who's that RB for the Niners?"

"Gore?"

"Yeah, yeah. He's probably having a good season right? Niners are winning"

"Yeah. He's doing alright"

"Ok, I'll put him down"

That is literally how it often goes down.

12thMan 12-27-2012 10:57 AM

Re: Redskins Pro Bowl Selections

I agree the process is a little "whack". Maybe could use some tweaking or just scrap the whole thing. I really don't care. I just find it weird how some people go out of their way to put the Pro-Bowl down when their player gets snubbed, yet rejoice when they make it. Can't have it both ways.

skinsguy 12-27-2012 12:15 PM

Re: Redskins Pro Bowl Selections

Why don't they just do it like they do the Hall of Fame, have a nominating committee that bases the Pro Bowl nominees based solely on individual stats? No need to vote.

And then, to make the Pro Bowl more interesting and competitive, have the winning conference of the game get extra draft picks or extra compensation for free agency for the next season for that conference's teams. Something to make the actual game worth the effort. And move the stupid game back to after the Super Bowl.

Actually I'l go even further and say compensation for the teams on the winning side that were represented in the game. Even more incentive for players to do their best during the season.

Re: Redskins Pro Bowl Selections

I like the idea of replacing the pro bowl with the Senior Bowl.

Even better idea: Making the worst team in the NFL play the Best team in college football (or the best seniors on one team like the Senior Bowl).

Even though that would never happen

They should bring back the old game where the NFL champ plays a preseason game against college all-stars, although this won't happen.

If he did cheat he deserves to be called a cheater, but I'm not in any position to honestly know whether or not they definitely cheated. I'm starting to think the NFL's drug policy might need to be revamped because of the unusual amount of players crying foul over Adderall. If a guy like Jordan Black got suspended not for a positive drug test, but over a paperwork issue regarding a prescription, and he's not the only one, then the NFL might need to revisit the issue and see if they can figure out a solution.

The thing about it is, a player doesn't get suspended on his first positive tests. The fact Sherman is up for suspension means he had in fact failed one previous drug test prior to this one. Lucky for him, he won his appeal. However, it still doesn't clear him over the first failed drug test.

Adderall is being used as a competitive advantage, no two ways about it.
