What if Hall is being brought back as a FS first and a situational corner?
Boom! But we'll still need a starting corner in this scenario, be it via FA or draft. |
Ha..people are seriously saying Biggers is better than Hall? smh
Yeah I mean he's only been a 3X pro bowler and a starter every where he's been but he's worse than some dude named EJ Biggers that nobody even knows of. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
I admit I didn't know much about Biggers prior to today. He sounds more like a depth guy than anything. I highly doubt we're done addressing the CB position.
|
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
Then y would we sign biggers then?? That would make no sense lol. Hall is better than u guys give credit for. Every corner in the league gets burned, only a few are really really good.
I agree hall is better. Biggers is a cheap nickle/backup. Under no circumstances would the team bring hall back and have Biggers and hall on the field at the same time. Both are gamblers who cant cover. It would be a recipe for disaster. |

That's all he is. Rah may be able to work him into the system. |

I got it...Biggers is the new Ade Jimoh.

Relax fellas, this guy is depth, and I'm sure we will find a more talented CB to start, either another FA or the draft. This is actually an excellent depth move. No way this guy is opposite Wilson. He is a nickle cb, nothing more, nothing less. Crawford might even push him out of the nickle job, so he is depth. |

I was thinking the same thing. Imagine if he make a great play we will be saying BIGGERS smalls is the Illest. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
Think DJ Biggers vs Cedric Griffin
|
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
The Bucs never went into a season with Biggers slated to start, but the bottom line is that at age 26, he best profiles as a no. 2 CB in the NFL. If he starts for us, he's going to get thrown at a lot, which would in effect make him the direct DeAngelo Hall replacement. He was usually targeted 60-80 times per year in TB, but Hall got targeted 100+ times per season.
|
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
It would be pretty stupid to have both Hall and Biggers. Biggers is like DeAngelo Hall, but without the upside (ie paymaking ability).
Why would it be stupid to have both? The one with upside starts and the other, who you claim is similar but not quite as good, would simply be depth in case of an injury. Most backups in the league possess a similar skill set as their starter, but are without the "upside" or they themselves would start, right? If we can afford both (a funny thing to say given our cap situation) why not have them both? |
Somewhere Reed doughty sitting by himself thanking god that the skins signed another piece of the secondary the fans will hate more than him. If hall comes back we can probably get to under 5 percent of the gameday thread posts being about Reed.

Remember back when we thought Doughty was the worst thing ever? He must be thanking his lucky stars, he's flying under the radar now. |

Yep, haters gotta hate. Never understood it myself. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
I think the plan is to have RGIII play both ways - depending on how his knee feels this fall. So we should be good.

I wouldn't mind seeing him go all Darrel green on us and return punts in the Super Bowl. Well yeah I would because he would get killed but that was always a huge moment when 28 was lines up to return a kick. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
biggers is insurance for the draft in case we miss on a db, or a 1st round RT falls or whatever. we're covering our bases.
I believe we'll be drafting 3 dbs (2 cbs, 1 s) and hoping one of them can start for us. if we get lucky, great. otherwise, it'll be kind of like last year (though a healthy DL would really improve things). |

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
Amazing to think Biggers cant get better, when he showed SIGNIFICANT flashes last year. Where is the risk in this move? Affordable, young corner who didnt play poor last year. Id say thats a win.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
There is nothing wrong with the Biggars signing. He's a veteran player who might be able to help us.
We have little cap space so we could not afford one of the top FA CB's. That's reality. Deal with it. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
Should be interesting to see how many ways we can butcher this seemingly simple name.
So far we have: DJ Biggers Biggars |
There is nothing wrong with the Biggars signing. Nothing.
Was he announced as the Redskins' saviour or even as a starter? No. He's a veteran player who might be able to help us in some as yet undetermined role. That's a good thing. I hate to see a player "welcomed" to Washington in such a negative manner. We have no cap space, people. Who did you expect us to sign under these circumstances?
I agree, especially when he played decent last year. Certainly better than old tackle vets who havent played alot lately. EJ Biggie best move so far |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
I think Ej is more than a depth move. I think they hope he can start and still get better. I love the fact that he ran a 4.36 40. He is 6ft tall. I like the signing alot. I hope we can draft a guy that is better, but at least that hole is filled.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
I like the move. Change of scenery might do him good, would like to see tracy porter.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
EJ Biggers is like Kevin Barnes mixed with Barry Wilburn. That's really not a bad combination. The fact that Biggers has starting experience helps out a lot.
|
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
Biggers is likely facing suspension for violation use of banned substances. That's why he's here.

Well, it also helps he's performing at the highest level of his career right now. I can't ever remember announcers/commentators giving Doughty kudos prior to this season. I think he's a borderline starter as SS for us now and one hell of a backup. In fact, if we have/had a legit FS I think Doughty starting isn't a bad idea. |

Isnt a great one either. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
Well, considering the situation we are in right now, we don't have much of a choice. At least we know Doughty is someone knows our system and will always give 100% on the field.
|
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
First D Hall and now Reed Doughty.
Its like we have forgotten our secondary issues from last year. Lets just bring everyone back and put them on the field. Bring the same people back and expect better play...sounds like a plan. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II
Doughty had a hell of a game against Seattle in the playoffs.
Doughty had a hell of a game against Seattle in the playoffs.
Indeed. Single-handidly blew up a couple/few plays on the back-field and otherwise had some great stops. It was his best game of the season, but he looked good in the 2nd half of the season IMO. Just saying, we all know how limited the team is per cap space. Would I like an upgrade at SS? Sure. But want in one hand, shit in the other, and see which hand is more full at the end of the day. An upgrade at FS will help the D much more than replacing Doughty if he starts at SS. BTW, is BM better at SS or FS? I thought it was SS but some have implied he's a FS... |
