Receiver would make sense and I wouldnt be against it. Look at the contract situation after next year. There's really good talent/value in the 2nd/3rd rounds at WR this year. Woods, DeAndre Hopskins, Terrance Williams, Steadman Baily, Swope...and I think the most intriguing is Markus Wheaton.

I wonder if adding Williams would be something III would lobby for?

Swope, man I like that kid.

Swope is solid, but do you use your 2nd on an exclusive slot reciever? He wouldnt make a noise outside.

Correct MC is the HC there.

Marquis Goodwin is prob the fastest player in the draft.

Can never have too many weapons. We do need another honestly but I'd rather get that defense first

Andre Ellington was a monster last year at Clemson. I would love to see him in the Burgundy and Gold. Reading his scout profile says Shanny-type back all over him:

Possesses above-average straight-line speed. Attacks the line of scrimmage in one-back formations. Good vision and foot quickness for the cutback, has a burst through the hole and can accelerate away from oncoming defenders. Tough for college safeties to get an angle on. Excellent balance in the open field to cut, put his hand on the ground to stay upright, or even leap sprawling defenders. Runs with some lean for his size, and he lowers his pads pre-contact to get an extra yard. Takes big hits and bounces back up. Tight-ropes the sideline when necessary to maximize runs. Shows the ability to create behind the line of scrimmage when the play side breaks down, and the creativity and knowledge of pursuit angles to set up second level defenders. Shows patience running behind pulling guards and fullbacks, can cut in either direction off the block. Stiff-arm in the open field can be effective in keeping away defensive backs. Very dangerous in space. Good hands to be a threat as a receiver in the flat, over the middle, on screens, and down the sideline on wheel routes. Dangerous kick returner who can slide through creases and explode into the open with quick cuts and pure acceleration.

Now you're talking! Hunter has it all now that he has regained his speed. The Skins might need to move up if they want to get him.

we won't be 'moving up' to get someone. We have little picks as it is. We are staying at 51 or moving down.

Ellington is a speedster; the kind of back we need.

Boyce is a Hakeem Nicks type of physical WR. He and RG3 were teammates in high school.

Boyce is someone we can get in the 4-5th round range.

Don't be so sure of that. If they decide that Hunter is the playmaker they want, they'll have to move up to get him. Much more dramatic moves have been made in the draft.

In fact, I'm so sure that the Skins will go after the specific players they want this time around that I'll predict right now that the Skins will move up at some point in this year's draft to pick a player they want. They might even trade a future pick to do so (and don't call me Vinny).

Torn ACL in 2010 which hurt his speed since then noticeably. And he has Julio jones hands. Not saying I don't want him but Id go DB over him unless all the ones I like are gone.

Also have a crazy suspicion that we will draft Duke Williams before the 4th round.

Re: Post Your Redskins Mock Draft Here

So with the news of us possibly going playmaker let me re-do a draft. One with Hunter one with Ellington.

2nd: Justin Hunter (I feel we would have to move up for him)
3rd: Phillip Thomas
4th: B.W. Webb
5th: Xavier Nixon
6th: Kenjon Barner
7th: Ray Ray Armstrong

other 5th was used to move up for Hunter

2nd: DJ Hayden
3rd: Andre Ellington
4th: Duke Williams
5th: Jon Bostic
5th: Xavier Nixon
6th: Kenjon Barner
7th: Ray Ray Armstrong

1.Don't take what I'm suggesting as gospel

2. We've been very vocal about wanting Duke Williams that I question the seriousness

3. Duke may end up going in the 3rd

4. We're not trading up from 51, that I can pretty much guarantee (I think)

True. Could be à smokescreen on Duke, but the Hunter/Ellington think threw me off guard.
...I also see them going offense early(playmaker)
Curious as to why do you think they'll go offense/playmaker early?

Is it because of the way you think the draft will unfold i.e. a run on SAF prior to pick #51 or some other reason?

It appears our needs in the secondary match up quite nicely with the depth of the draft at those positions.
More weapons more problems... for opposing defenses.
The game is changing. Its an arms race on the offensive side of the ball. How many weapons can you get? Defenses NOT really winning championships anymore. Defense can get you to the playoffs, but teams who can put up numbers and can never be out of a game are the ones doing damage. The ablility to score is the focus these day. Defense that can score or produce turnovers are more sought after than ones that can stop on 3rd downs.

Folks the game is changing.

Yeah I think the mentality now is to have a decent enough defense to get by, while having an offense that can march down the field and score at will. The way the rules are set up now gives almost all the advantages to the offense.

They want to give RG3 more weapons
They feel the DB/S class is actually quite deep with the gap not being that huge between the 4th best and the 14th best
They know they have no true slot receiver outside of the 34-year-old Santana Moss
Evan Royster is the current back-up to Morris and he's gone from likely starter to a foot and a half out the door in less than a year

And I think they're not being totally truthful about Helu's status

I mean maybe they'll go DB in the 2nd and WR/RB in the 3rd, but I don't think they're going to go defense/defense off the top

They know what they want to to happen; but the draft is all about contingencies and adjustments. I think they'll go best player available. I don't think its predetermined if they go 2nd round WR 3rd round DB etc. I think they'll go BPA and the draft will play out.

And I think every team wants to give their QB more weapons. But, I think this draft sets up quite nicely to improve the weakest unit on the team. And on the whole I think there is much easier and nets a greater impact from improve upon a poor unit then trying to improve an already elite unit like the offense.

I don't think our offense is "elite " I think it's very good. The saints, pats , broncos and packers have elite offenses IMO.

Hard to hate on those numbers.

Call it elite or whatever you want, but our offense was exciting last year and should only continue to improve and evolve.

No doubt it was great last year but I think to be Elite u have to do it over time. I believe our offense is getting there though, but yes we do need a couple more weapons.

You are absolutely correct. Of course, defense-minded old timers like me are disgruntled by this turn. "The game used to end at 7-3 and we liked it that way dagnabbit!"

But, regardless of what I might think, the NFL has turned into an offensive arms race.

I'm saying like a true slot WR would be really good to have because moss is getting older and we could use a player like Swope or something to come in and start taking over. I love our offense believe me but there's nothing wrong with adding to it. I do agree with u about defense though, it's obviously our biggest and highest priority
