Re: Around the NFL-Draft News & Rumors
I think the Saints (and Panthers) are a sub-.500 team at this point, so that is what is.
And the Falcons have a ton to prove as well. You can't take last years wins away from them, but you can point out that their point differential wasn't all that and they weren't particularly competitive in the playoffs last year after putting up a quick 20 points on the Seahawks. The Bucs are still a huge projection at this point, but they have a ton of continuity on their roster: beyond Revis and Goldson, they changed practically nothing from last season. The NFC South is not a division of world beaters. I don't think they'd be ahead of the Falcons in a set of power rankings done today, but midseason power rankings are way more important all things considered. I'd expect the Falcons to respond to this with an aggressive move up in the draft for a defensive player with an elite rating (Jordan or Milliner).
Yeah I believe the entire NFC South has alot to prove this year. But one thing you cant underestimate is Sean Payton + Drew Brees reunited again. Whew I tell you what, I can see the chip on Sean Payton shoulder from right here in Richmond. Its huge. |
Re: Around the NFL-Draft News & Rumors
Updated, and FINAL mock
1. KC Eric Fisher-they supposedly like him more 2. Jax Luke Joeckel- they like him and need a lineman to protect their awful QB 3. Oakland Shariff Floyd- they need a pass rusher, and a DT, he's both. 4. Philly Dion Jordan- Chip Kelly will probably get someone he is familiar with and they're changing to a 3-4 which is where I think Dion should play. I really contemplated Eric Fisher here. 5. Detroit Dee Milliner- depends on if they like him more or Lane Johnson. 6. TRADE San Diego Lane Johnson -Cleveland trades because their guy Milliner wasn't there 7. Arizona Johnathan Cooper- A guard, SEXY..no but seriously their OL sucked all year. Makes the most sense to get the best OLineman available. 8. Buffalo Ziggy Ansah- Again, they need a lot. 9. New York Geno Smith- Sanchez sucks, So does this QB class, but even Genos better 10. Tennessee Chance Warmack- they need a guard that can go against JJ 2 times a year. 11. Cleveland Tavon Austin- Sorry Tavon, a great talent goes to a bad team. 12. Miami Sheldon Richardson- I was between him and Lotulelei, Sheldon doesn't have the heart red flag and is more battle tested in the SEC. 13. Jets Brakevious Mingo- Rex loves pass rushers and here is the best one available. 14. Carolina Star Lotulelei- They need a good DT here he is. 15. New Orleans Jarvis Jones- They're changing to a 3-4 heres an OLB from the SEC. 16. St. Louis Kenny Vaccaro- they cut Mikell, so heres their new FS. 17. Pittsburgh Cordarrelle Patterson- they need a lot, BPA of need is a WR who is physical and can make plays. 18. Dallas Johnathan Cyprien- They need a safety, he can play both positions. Jerry supposedly loves him; another surprise. 19. New York Giants Tank Carradine- He's supposedly ranked higher now than Werner. 20. Chicago Arthur Brown- they need an MLB to replace Urlacher. I was between Te'o, brown and Ogletree. Browns the least controversial of the 3. 21. Cincinnati Alec Ogletree- athletic MLB to replace Maualuga or can play OLB should Burfict move there. 22. St. Louis DeAndre Hopkins- They need a WR, he's a big play WR 23. Minnesota Manti Te'o- they need a MLB. Te'o fits well in that locker room and division. 24. Indy Jesse Williams- he can play DE and NT, I think they choose him over Datone Jones a DE 25. Minnesota Desmond Trufant- they need a CB to replace Winfield 26. Green Bay Datone Jones- a pass rushing DE to create pressure opposite Matthews. 27. Houston Keenan Allen- its between him and Minter; offense is getting old and one demensional. 28. Denver Slyvester Williams- they need a MLB, DT, DE, CB, S. Heres the BPA of need. 29. New England Bjoern Werner- just sounds like a patriots pick. 30. Atlanta Tyler Eifert- Heres Tony Gonzalezs replacement 31. San Francisco Zach Ertz- Jim Harbaugh supposedly loves Ertz and they lost Delanie Walker. 32. Baltimore Kevin Minter- amazing how all these great players of need falls to Baltimore. Lose Ray Lewis and Dannell Ellerbe; get McClain and Minter. (Could easily see a trade occuring here though for a QB needy team that wants to pay guaranteed money and years to a QB) |
Freeman still makes them avg. He's just not that good IMO. I do agree about the team being overall better but NO is still better and so is ATL. Both of those teams have way better offenses and obviously QBs. Carolina could be better as well.
Seattle SF Washington NyG Gb ARE all better than TB
I would add ATL and no to that. Even chi |

But if the Saints are going to be a playoff team, they're going to have to get better every week during the season, because they're far from a strong team at the moment.
The Bucs would probably be a lot closer in the eyes of many. It's a long season though. |
Re: Around the NFL-Draft News & Rumors
As good as Revis is, its still a QB driven league. Freeman decides how great the bucs will be, not Revis. The Bucs are still not a playoff team in my eyes.
the Jets on the other hand, should they get a good QB like Geno, could benefit a lot from this trade.
But throws Revis will make up a significant portion of Matt Ryan and Drew Brees' stats next year. |

Delievers pain, ooodles and ooodles of pain. I really dont need to see everyone's opinion on the mothership about Tebow, his play on the field speaks for himself. Havent watched the NFLN in a couple years, I was done pretty early with those guys. |
Re: Around the NFL-Draft News & Rumors
I'd think Tebow would be a better option QB than Cousins and White.

Re: Around the NFL-Draft News & Rumors
Other than actual live sports, I've had to cut ESPN out of my life on the TV and radio. They've become like E! or any other TV tabloid-type show. Nauseating. From Greenberg's fashion tips to Stephen A Smith's constant racist talk to Chris Berman's version of the English language and screaming to Skip Bayless just being employed...it all makes me sick to the stomach.
You really have to question ANY organization who would hire Michael Irvin too. There's a lesson for the kids...if you practice running fast, you can spend your time with hookers and cocaine and still make a fortune. Forget English class, just party. ANYWAYS...back to the topic...I'm getting very relieved that we did not get to draft Matthieu now. Reports are that the Cards are giving him ZERO money guaranteed and could be drug testing him weekly. |

White yes, Cousins no. |
Re: Around the NFL-Draft News & Rumors
Tebow's insistence on trying to play QB is hurting his chance to have a successful NFL career as a hybrid TE. I think he could be a monster in that role. QB? No. Playmaker? Yes. Is his pride holding him back? At this point, I'd say yes.

Havent watched the NFLN in a couple years, I was done pretty early with those guys.
Which one do you think accurately describes his play: Winner? Leader? Team Player? AFC West Championer? Adversity Conqueror? Footballer? Just playing. We know he's ALL those things on the field and so much more in life...... I thought about starting a "Tebow Talk" thread back in the day when the media started to get pretty intense with him. This way people who want to talk Tebow can talk Tebow and every other thread wouldnt be junked up with Tebow stuff. Maybe theres still time? |

I agree. It might be too late for him to switch now, though. If he had less hubris and more brains, he would have made the switch to H-back when it was suggested to him before his draft. The meek will inherit the tight end position. |

The meek will inherit the tight end position.
Why? He took the Broncos to the playoffs and won a playoff game as a QB. Of course he's leaving town when Peyton Manning comes in. He had his run a a QB. He should not be faulted for playing his position when a team gives him a chance. Now that his demand as a QB is gone, it's NOW time to switch if he wants to stay in the league, but I don't blame him for being the Broncos' QB while he had the chance. |

IMO his NFL position is H-back, not QB. If he had started his NFL career as an H-back, he would already have an established career. Instead he wanted to be a QB, Denver was foolish enough to give him a shot at QB, and now he has little to show for his career so far and likely has to reinvent himself. In the meantime the clock is ticking on his career, which in the NFL is always relatively short. |

He wouldnt have been in all the commercials. He wouldnt have had the cult following that he has. Im sure a lot of people would take a 3 year career that earned possibly 10's of millions over a 10 year career that earned 5 mil and brain damage. Im still confused why people assume Tebow would be a difference maker at TE. He would probably be average at best. Can he even catch? or block? |
Re: Around the NFL-Draft News & Rumors
Chris Landry brought up some good points about the Jets drafting Geno Smith. He thinks Geno has potential, needs to be coached up, but are the Jets the right fit?
Smith has shown he has thin skin and seems he wont be able to take the NY media. Smith also had a twitter moment. Head coach could be gone after this season, next coach may not see Smith as "his guy." Team still has it share of idiots on the roster. New offensive cordinator and a front office that is still more about the headlines than football. Could be interesting folks. Landry was basically saying horrible fit. |
