Re: Official 2013 Redskins Regular Season Schedule
my god dan. We can also not predict injuries either. Nor have we seen training camp. We can't see what big moves and trades will occur before the season starts with Revis or Fitzgerald. Nor can we see who everyone is picking as a winner who will end up flopping. So what we should just get rid of predictions as a whole right? No one should predict anything right?
No one is arguing the giving up of predictions altogether. But by your own logic above, any prediction made on April 18 (rather than waiting for August) is foolhardy. |
I think he was only speaking on quarterbacks. There will always be impact players from the draft.
For the most part yes, it was the QBs. But occasionally a JaDevon Clowney, Von Miller, Deion Sanders, Warren Sapp, Julius Peppers will come out and cause a major impact on their team (Clowney is considered the Andrew Luck of defense). I don't see any big defensive guys in this draft that will be game changers causing their team to win enough games to basically do a flip like they were the season before. And as you already mentioned, the QBs in this draft are awful. I don't see any of them having an Andrew Luck, RG3, Russell Wilson impact. Hell I think best case Geno smith can have a Tannehill impact. Like people have been saying, this draft is full of depth and solid players from the mid first onto the 4th round. Whereas last years draft had major talent in the top 15 picks, then fizzled out. (Simple terms this draft has talent thats going to win you 2-4 games more to your record [depending on the team that could be good]. Last years draft had talent that could win you 4-8 games as we saw with the colts. |

Or just fun conjecture for bragging rights at the end of the season? I will always pick the Skins to go 19-0 and one day I'll be right. In your face <no_one_in_particular>! |
I'd like to see how teams are looking after Training Camp before saying they'll be a horrible game to watch.
You just never know. Didn't all the experts say the Redskins would be flat because of the Rookie QB and crappy team?
True enough. But, looking at the schedule today with what we have to judge it by, I am seeing very little "Oh wow, I can't wait for that game". However, you never know how the season will shake out, and it is why I was glad they adopted flex scheduling in the first place. Bottom line, it is football and, like the addicted drone I am, I will be watching. |

Yeah they open in San Diego. I thought that was a pretty odd choice for Houston to be in there. That would be a 9:30 start for them right? |

Typically they have started the second game at 10:05 or so. Remember the Skins vs Vikes opened ESPN's coverage of MNF in 2006. I was there, five year anniversary of 9/11 flags everywhere that the team gave away. I have a photo I took from the opening of that game in my office. Thinking I may go this year. |

Re: Official 2013 Redskins Regular Season Schedule
A couple of schedule quirks that jumped out at me..
-Nearly 30 days between home games early in the season, Sept 22 vs Detroit and then at the Raiders, bye week, at Dallas before coming back to face Chicago. Long time to be away from home. -3 of our 5 primetime games come in a 4 game stretch. That's going to be interesting to see how we deal with a constant spotlight. -We don't leave the Eastern time zone after Nov. 7th. -If we end November with 4 losses or less we should be in really good shape for the playoffs.. Our December schedule sets up to be slightly easier than that of the Giants or Cowboys. |
Re: Official 2013 Redskins Regular Season Schedule
The pressure being out on the team and III in particular to become the "new face" of the NFL is immense for a second year guy coming off knee reconstruction. Has there been a player in recent memory being thrust so clearly into the spotlight that anyone can remember?
If there is a guy who can handle the pressure of the organization, the DMV metro area, the fans, his own recovery, and now the NFL marketing machine it is our QB. I would imagine he relishes in the opportunity to play in front of millions. I also see a high likely hood of the game against the Giants or Cowboys being flexed to Sunday night. |

Re: Official 2013 Redskins Regular Season Schedule
What jumped out at me when I first looked at the schedule is that we play our out-of-division away games at some of the worst possible venues for visiting teams. We play at Green Bay, Oakland, Denver, Minnesota, and Atlanta. The NFL didn't do us any favors in that regard.
|
Re: Official 2013 Redskins Regular Season Schedule
The NFL didn't have it out for us. We won the division which means we play two first place NFC teams. One at home and one away. The other conference and non conference games we play at their place because a few years ago during the division rotation we played those teams at our place.

Re: Official 2013 Redskins Regular Season Schedule
When I look at this years Skins' schedule I can summarize it with this single rap verse:
" 'Cause me and my boss hoggs bout to ball till we fall This year, I won't stall, slim thugga want it all" In this case, slim thugga would be RG3 |

Re: Official 2013 Redskins Regular Season Schedule
I surely didn't like how the Redskins were scheduled to play @ Oakland when they beat the Raiders in Oakland back in 2009. The Redskins/Raiders game should be at FedExField. I'm very pleased with our schedule and I'm looking forward to the 5 prime time games.
