Shanahan will go for the risky guys, Trent and Fred with weed, merriweathers with his DUI. He still has and "hopes" that tanard Jackson will play this year even thought he has drug problems up the wahzoo. DHall isn't exactly the best character guy with his on the field in incidents with coaches and refs as well as players. Shanahan kept briscoe on the roster even though he was cut by Tampa bay because he was a headcase there. Hell, he stuck with josh Morgan after he lost us the game.

So to say he doesn't want character guys is pure bull.
Nobody is saying he doesn't take chances sometimes. All coaches do, just depends on their risk tolerance, some are higher than others. I'd put Shanahan somewhere in the middle. For every "risky" guy he also loves guys like Kerrigan, RGIII, Morris, Fletcher, Helu, Cousins, etc.

As he said you do your homework and make a decision based on what you know. I doubt he's against taking certain guys off his draft board though.

I think giving another chance to players is more descriptive; but this all relative to also making the team better. The areas of most need are the areas that you would take more risks in. And actually the examples of risk that you listed - were not examples of draft risks taken by Shanahan.
7.5 his rookie year, 41 tackles, 4FF's, 1 Int & 9 last year, 54 tackles, 2ff's & 1 Int.

Marginally better season w/out RAK.
Marginally better is more favorable than "isn't all that effective" though, right?
He did, but he was expected to get big numbers and double digit sacks. If you watched Kerrigan last year he was being blocked with just one man. That doesn't tell me that with orakpo he would have been much better considering Rak gets double teamed drawing single coverage for kerrigan. Ryan did good last year, but great? No. Can we upgrade him if a player like Moore fell or if Orakpo leaves, yes. But all in all OLB isn't of main concern.
You're kinda on both sides of it but ok. He could have been better. He's never going to be Clay Matthews or JJ Watt but he may see double digits with some sacks of the QB trying to get away from Rak.

I'll be upgrading some networking equipment during the early part of the draft. Hopefully, I'll be done before our pick.

Actually it was not a typo. However, I meant no offense and was only being playful.

Realizing Cyprien is gonna be off the table I've warmed up to idea of Swearinger and then hopefully someone like Poyer in round 3. Still holding out hope though for a spark plug home run threat 3rd down back in rounds 4-5 like Kenjon Barner or Andre Ellington if he slips.

Re: Draft talk rounds 2-3

All I want tonight is 2 DBs. A safety and a corner, two safeties, it doesn't matter. Just give me 2 DBs.

I will accept a playmaker on offense IF he is a great value.

Well there goes Cyprien.

Didn't expect Cyprien to be there anyways.

I didn't either, but I didn't expect the Skins to win the NFC East last year either. I was still hoping.

Good point, and there goes Justin Hunter as well.

Cyprien is going to Jax where all these good athletes go for their careers to die. We'll get him in 4 years.

Ertz, he could be tough to stop. Surprised San Fran didn't take him.

Anyone want Darius Slay?

Well I can see the future and he's going to be picked right now by the Lions. Before Banks, which is surprising..

Yeah that was kinda confusing but Harbaugh doesn't seem to draft former players

There goes Slay. Nice job Cult.

Bengals need a RB, I'd go for a speedy guy like Franklin or Bernard. Supposedly they like Bernard.

Skinsfanatic 04-26-2013 06:58 PM

Gio Bernard next? I am guessing.

But seriously, are we going to be posting twitter leaks? Cause if so, I think I am going to check out of this thread.

I'm off of twitter. I hate it when people leak player picks.

Geno. Good name for NY. I wonder how Mark feels. Or Tebow (who is probably laughing).

The Jets should rotate all four QBs throughout the game... would make for hilarity.

Goodbye Rex Ryan. Jets only have 2 offensive players worth mentioning. And they are both linemen.

Darnit, there goes Woods.

San Diego is a great place for Teo. Not exactly a small market but certainly not an under the microscope group of media following the team.

Re: Draft talk rounds 2-3
Yeah but his track record so far with the Skins says he puts a premium on character guys. Sure you gamble and lose sometimes, but for the most part he's been true to his word.
One thing I've learned about Shanahan is he doesn't tell the truth. And he shouldn't tell the media/fans what he's going to do. Not only did he take Clarret, he's taken Tanard Jackson and Larry Johnson. I don't think we should take risks with the early picks, but I also think that MS is smart enough to know that an NFL locker room isn't filled with a bunch of Charles Mann's.

Menelik Watson. There goes an OT.

skinsfaninok 04-26-2013 07:25 PM

Geno isn't any good either, the jets basically were forced into taking him.

damnit Swearinger will be gone i think, trade back time!

I would probably trade back at this point unless they really want Terrance Williams
