I have a terrible time with whiskey. Good or bad. I turn into blackout bobby almost immediately. I very much appreciate the taste of a good smoky whiskey but once you start talking about catching a buzz and beyond i am out. Learned the hard way many times over. |

Today is dry day #27. I took one weekend off this month for a friend's birthday, but other than that it's gone very well. I'm going to stay strong up until 2/4. |

Wow. Impressive. I couldn’t do it. Though I never tried. Why 2/4??? Just a random date you selected or is their some significance? Edit… thinking because its the first available Friday.. |

Re: Drink Recommendations
Every now and then I’ll buy something new with bourbon… picked up Russell’s Reserve 10 Year Bourbon. Just ok. It’ll probably linger longer on the shelf than others.

Re: Drink Recommendations
Bought a South Carolina whiskey for the holidays. But I wouldn't know the difference between a whiskey or bourbon if put in front of me. Can anyone here tell the difference? Any preference between the 2?

What Makes a Bourbon: A Cheat Sheet Must be made in the United States. Must contain 51% corn. Must be aged in new oak-charred barrels. Must be distilled to no more than 160 proof and entered into the barrel at 125 proof. Must be bottled at no less than 80 proof. Must not contain any added flavoring, coloring or other additives. Re: Drink Recommendations
Bourbon is typically smoother and easier to drink.
American Whiskey is rougher around the edges. There are some Japanese whiskeys that are worth a try. Nikka…. So damn good. I can’t justify the price. |

Re: Drink Recommendations
Do y'all drink your scotch/whiskey/bourbon straight or on the rocks? I've never really done that myself. I'm the cheapskate that pours Jim Beam into diet coke.

Re: Drink Recommendations
Sometimes ice, sometimes neat, sometimes a little splash of water, no wrong answers as to how you like it. Only time I like to mix with soda is with Jack or Jameson.

I tasted several Japanese whiskey at thanksgiving, one supposed primo bottle…just not for me. I’ll stick to the blue grass state in the sweet sunny south. |

Re: Drink Recommendations
Hey something I’m curious about…does anyone order liquor online? What’s a good service, good prices website if you do?
I usually hit up my local ABC store, but have been considering using order service if it’s affordable |
Re: Drink Recommendations
I dont do hard liquor, one of my rules that has served me well
BUT i am having this amazing smoked old fashioned on New Years at this white glove place Royal Taj. They bring it out, have this torch pipe set up and smoke some herbs that smoke the drink and theres a top on it so the smoke sits Cheers on New Years, celebrate the ones you love while they are still alive. Let them know. |
Re: Drink Recommendations
Very small twist on Mimosa's. I use Asti instead of Champaign.

I find when it’s iced I lose some of the flavor nuances like the toasted vanilla that comes out of Woodford. But most the time I go old fashioneds because I get some of the acid reflux Chico’s talking about, and the sugar bitters and ice cuts it. I use black walnut bitters, the aroma is awesome. |

Lil sweet, but decent. I also have bought the woodford bitters set, and their black walnut was solid. |
