Does anybody have a feel for the offense this season per what's happening at camp/preseason etc.? Do people think it'll be mostly like last year's with some new twists or will we see something more similar to Mike's textbook Denver days?

I expect less optioning of the QB to limit contact, at least early on. Still think its more Kyle's call at this point than Mike's. Kyle proved alot last year, he will be deciding, but Kyle will mos def be throwing in new wrinkles I think with our TE's group and more passing options out the back field. I think Fred Davis has a career year and gets paid.

Robert Griffin III thinks the time is now for gay players to come out.



The Redskins star quarterback told GQ magazine that he feels the "window is now" for gay players.

"I think there are [gay players] right now, and if they're looking for a window to just come out, I mean, now is the window," said Griffin, who is recovering from offseason knee surgery. "My view on it is, yes, I am a Christian, but to each his own. You do what you want to do. NBA veteran Jason Collins was the first active player from the four major U.S. sports to come out earlier this year. The Detroit Pistons were reportedly interested in signing Collins, who is a free agent.

The interesting part about this question, is someone, I forget who, and can't link - sorry, broke down last year's offense, and pointed out specifically similar to textbook MS offenses it was. The real difference was the move to the pistol formation, but the plays ran were basically the same constructs.

There are a handful of drama queens out there that want to twist everything into a shit storm of controversy. LaVar is one of them. He should know, he was a dark cloud here at the end of career with the Skins.

If we're keeping 4 TE's I hope we stay pistol, multiple formations which utilize double TE's and motions, stay #1 in play action, RB heavy driven, and 2/3 of Rob's running yards transferred to feeding these receivers. Still a top 10 offense and with a above 15th ranked defense = unstoppable force for the next decade like we're capable and way it should have been last season.
We did go from 25th in rush to #1 if not mistaken but I've long wanted a 4,000yd passer b/c that will solidify a playoff streak year in and out.

I like Brian Mitchell a lot. I like to consider him an objective homer. He'll rip the team when they deserve it but will give credit where it's due.

Like you said with the trend, anyone who constantly bad mouths the Skins either bombed with them or kinda had to deal with poor management/wanted to leave (i.e. Carlos Rogers, Antonio Pierce)

But you know who's never had anything to say despite being rag dolled around for a few years? Ramsey. You'd think if anyone had a reason to bitch about the Skins organization, it'd be him.

Lol, not by any 1 player though. I'd prefer to have a potent passing attack if ever needing to go 80yards in a 2 minute drill when trailing, especially if getting to 2,500yd rushing requires 1 concussion, 2 knee sprains, and major offseason surgery that calls into question future risks to the greatest player a team has ever had in an era that is pass driven.

4,000yds is a reasonable expectation,less riskier, and will lead to more wins.IMO

But thats just it. It didnt require any of that. Against Atlanta, he made a stupid decision to try and cut back... into 3 Atlanta players. Against the Ravens, same thing. He would have made the exact same amount of yards had he gone out of bounds on both of those plays, and wouldnt have been injured on either. RG3 has to run smarter when he takes off. He is going to scramble, so even if there are no designed QB runs, he is still going to run.

Also as the NFL transitions to pass offenses, the defenses are making that same transition. Smaller DE's to have a quicker pash rush. Smaller faster LB's for coverage (Although the players are getting bigger overall, but thats true for run stoppers as well). Being a good running team isnt really a bad idea.

Well yeah, I'm talking about rushing yards as a team.

I doubt Shanny's love for the running game is ever going to fade. A strong running game is always a QBs best friend especially one coming off a knee injury. Plus it sets up the playaction game that Shanny also loves.

I won't be surprised if Griffin's rushing numbers are cut in half this year, but will he make it up throwing or will someone like Helu pick up the slack? Throwing for 4000 might be a bit steep IMO. I could see him around 3500.

I think we're saying the same thing- love the Shanny play action and run heavy, and rob to run considerably less to pass more. He did 3,200. I think that's great for a canon armed rookie missing his TE and recieving RB option. Rob can do anything.

Lol, I'm betting you Matty or rather predicting 4,000 this year. This offense is going to be beautiful w/ Fred and Helu. Damn this August is dragging.

Don't be surprised when we have plays/formations with 4 TE's and either a RB or WR out there.

Reed, Davis, and Paul are basically buffed up WRs, or as people like to call them, Joker TEs. Could be deadly with Reed and Paul lined up outside and Davis either on the line or in the slot with Paulsen the same way and Morris in the back field..could be scary for defenses.

Or you replace Morris with Garcon and put him out wide with Paulsen on the line or in the backfield to protect Griffin..also could be very deadly.

I'd say there's more than just a handful. Every national sports talk radio host would fit that description, and unfortunately they don't just report news, they make it. RGIII needs to pick his words more carefully. Like it or not, everything he says will be magnified and repeated and analyzed ad naseum. He needs to study game film of Derek Jeter with the press. There's nothing to gain by being open with the media, but there is a lot to lose.

He'll definitely be turning heads, I feel like that was never the question with Reed, it was if he could stay healthy which he hasn't been for the most part.

Yup I hear ya, I was focusing on the local team media, but you're right the media at large has plenty of drama headline seeking types.

I agree RG3 would be wise to say more by saying less like Jeter, but he is just 23 and still learning the ropes. He'll get it figured out eventually.

That is pretty funny since Redskins management starts with Shanny now. He has a say in all of that, and Shanny and McNabb clearly dont like each other.
