Favre gets a call yet the great John Beck is unwanted. It's an NFL conspiracy. He's too good - everyone is afraid that he'll show up everyone else.

The Vikings are getting desperate at QB with Freeman out.

Everyone, including myself, forgot Beck existed.

Isn't David Carr a FA too?

I havent, how could you forget Beck? Remember Shanahan staked his reputation on him{and Grossman}

Wasnt it Kellen Clemens{now starting for Rams}who Beck beat out to win the backup job?

Yep, Kellen "Horsecollar" Clemens. The horsecollar tackle that he made in preseason was priceless.

I can stand to see or hear leadership crush one of their own in front of others:

"According to a current Bucs player -- in an account corroborated by another witness -- Schiano became enraged during a practice late in the 2012 season when special teams coach Bob Ligashesky walked onto the wrong area of the practice field during a drill.

Instead of merely telling Ligashesky to watch where he walked, Schiano launched into a loud tirade and threatened to fire him if he repeated the mistake. When Ligashesky was let go following the season, it was hard not to draw a connection between the tantrum and that decision."

Hear hear. There's no way the Glazers can go with Schiano after this season. I wouldn't be surprised if he is the first NFL coach canned midseason even. You can't be a hardass 24-7 and win. He should take some advice from Tom Coughlin, there's a time to be a hardass and there's a time when it isn't necessary.

Does it get any dochebaggery than threatening to fire someone who accidentally steps onto a practice field?

That isn't leadership.

And imagine what Schiano would do if instead of walking onto the wrong part of the practice field, the special teams coach walked on to the field and drew a 15 yard penalty. (Oh, wait....).

You can tell the Bucs players want nothing to do with Schiano. Way too much talent on that team to be 0-fer.

In other news, NFL ending it's helmet contract with Riddell after the season.

NFL just needs to bag the Thursday night game all together. They're watering down their product. I watched about a quarter and a half and turned it off....and I had money on the game.

Between the Vikings/Giants game and this one last night. The NFL has put on two stinkers in less than 5 days. Yuck. AND they were nationally televised.

Its unfortunate, but injuries are killing the NFL's product right now. Have any of you guys ever seen such bad play at QB and RB as we have recently?
And people still watch football, even if it's a stinker of a game.
Agreed, Its just hard to watch baseball unless you are actually at the game. Its America's Favorite Passtime, which is true, you can pass a lot of time watching a game. You could probably sum up every baseball game with 30 seconds of highlights and save yourself 3-4 hours of your life.

Maybe if they changed the rules to let you actually "throw a guy out" by letting you throw at the runner it might be more exciting.
