AH and the Redskins are both to blame. The Redskins were stupid to outbid everyone for a guy with serious questionable character. AH is a POS for basically taking the money and doing nothing when he got here. Yeah someone else would've signed him...Tampa and the Giants were in the running, but there was no way Snyder was going to get outbid. If you play with a snake long enough you will get bitten...and Snyder got bit for 33 million. Lessons learned.

That doesn't absolve any blame from the perpetrator at all though. Perhaps in creates additional blame of a different sort associated with the victim but the crime was still perpetrated by someone who did the wrong thing. Circumstances don't change that.

I don't seem to remember too may people decrying the move when we made it. I sorta remember everyone being pretty stoked. AH was known for being an asshat on the field. Not necessarily for being the "awful person" in general that CC describes.

He was known for letting loose on teammates. (i.e. he kicked his teammate in the chest)
He stomped on a dude's head.
Haynesworth caused a dude to be partially paralyzed cuz he was driving over 100mph (okay, this one can be let go, because we have/had murderers play in the NFL)
He felt up some lady (post-Redskins era)
He punched some dude, out of road rage. (post-Redskins era)

But the thing is that the awful person mentality had been there. This dude was screaming red flags.

I agree 100% with you Monkeydad. This is all on Albert Haynesworth. One can blame the Redskins organization all day long, but the bottom line for them was signing a football player who showed signs of greatness in terms of football talent - and AH had that. But to echo Smootsmack, he was too lazy to use it. Haynesworth could have been a beast for this defense if he had put in the effort. Imagine AH playing at the top of his game, while being flanked with Ryan Kerrigan and Brian Orakpo. That would have been pretty deadly! And I also agree that it didn't matter where Albert went, he would have done the same thing else where.

And the sad thing is, the franchise tried it's best to clear off the monetary mistake of one Albert Haynesworth from the books, and it wound up costing us $36 million more dollars. He really screwed the 'skins over big time!

The Haynesworth we outbid everyone for was the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, a 2-time Pro-Bowler and 2 time All Pro. He also scored bonus points for stomping a Dallas Cowboy. :D

Questionable character, yes, that is not debatable. He has always been a scumbag. You can't blame the Redskins for what he gave us ON the field though. We paid for the most dominant defensive lineman in the league at the time and he never showed up.

He will have to get busy though. In his eight seasons with the Redskins, Cooley recorded 428 receptions for 4,703 yards and 33 touchdowns, becoming the highest scoring TE the Redskins have had. But Jordan Reed has some moves. He could very well become the next highest scoring TE the Skins have had if he keeps it up.

It's such a bad culture to pay a guy oodles of money without having him contribute one iota to the teams success. You pay guys who grow into excellence within your organization. That's real value. How's th team gonna respond when Haynesworth comes in with that contract while Cornelius Griffin is there the whole time?

But I thought Haynesworth flashed huge his first year and wish Shanny would have built the offense around him, if anything to make the most out of the 4-3 defensive roster he inherited. Lots of blame to go around.

I didn't like the signing because of that reason. I heard heck knows how many analyses say Haynesworth was a lazy player and was only turning in a great season for a payday. Theres a reason why Ten didn't match Was price and offered him only so much to stay.

Not to mention the Redskins had so many other holes to fill. Instead they wasted most of there salary cap room on two players (the other being DeAngelo Hall) and neglected a myriad of other much needed areas.

I think we all know he's full of shit and the mere fact he's out of football 1 year after we traded him tells you that he doesn't give a shit about football nor about proving he's the best. He's about getting the most for doing the least. The only reason he was ever DPOY runner up is because they were contract years. (franchise tag) Otherwise, he was a below average DT prior to that.

There were plenty of write ups about his almost quitting football in college to where Fulmer had to talk him back onto the team. There were reports of him being lazy as hell with the Vols and with the Titans, and even our RB coach at the time (former Titan coach) told Vinny Cerrato that "buyer beware". Again, I'm not even a GM and found enough about this guy to never sign this asshole to a contract. I hated the move then, and hate it even more now. It's a move that still has cost us even 5 years after the fact. (salary cap)


Also, is this 2010? Our coach should be addressing what's wrong with the team and not answering questions regarding a useless piece of shit that took the money and ran some three years ago. Fuck Albert Haynesworthless.
