Unequivocally.

Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
"Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?"
No. Just because unequivocal is such a strong word. I'd say: 1) I'm 99% sure of his talents / potential. 2) I'm 100% sure he should be our QB and we should fully support him. 3) I'm 33% sure that he's going to stay consistently healthy for the next 15 years. I think the sky is NOT falling. I think we should fully support our QB through his struggles as he develops. I don't think we should give up in the entire team / coach next year. I think with some new acquisitions we could be the Kansas City Chiefs for next year, worst-to-first. And I hope RG3 regains his composure talking to the media, and starts to get along again with his coach. We need RG3 to be a leader again, he was inspirational last year -- but has lost it. Until he does this, the other players will not play to their full potential. |
"Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?"
No. I understand that with the injury and the missed offseason he is still, in practical terms a rookie. My concern is with his ego. He appears to believe he knows it all despite blindingly obvious evidence to the contrary. Is it possible to improve significantly when you don't believe you need to? That is my concern.
So you think his ego is going to be his downfall? I think it's more confidence than ego. I thought him getting nailed all last season and then injured last year brought him more down to Earth. I think he has a reason to have an ego; the skills are there the play is not. It's kinda like trying to build an item from Ikea; you've got all the pieces, now you just have to figure out how to put it all together. But once you've got it together you can stand back and marvel. Right now this team is an item from Ikea, that's missing a few screws and a wheel; capable of functioning but obviously very broken. |
Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
He has the best chance of anybody that has been here the last 15 years, but as of right now, no, I don't think so.
Some of these same people on here saying "YES ABSOLUTLEY" also said there was no doubt that Jason Campbell was heading to Canton one day, after winning 6 superbowls with the Redskins, a for-sure 1st ballot hall of famer... I want to take the wait and see approach for once. Plenty of NFL "busts" have had one good year. I think RG3 will be okay but we need to wait and see before automatically going all in on him being the savior... |
Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
Yes. This is a dumb question, it's his second year. Is Kaepernick a franchise QB? He had been equally bad for the niners, but his D makes up for that. Is Matt Ryan a franchise QB? This is a question to ask when his rookie contract is up and wants to get paid, right he is what he is, we are married to him know matter who the coach is.
Again though....because of the heavy price that was paid for RG3 that in turn jacks up the pressure. Kaepernick was a 2nd rounder and led his team to the SB. He gets more of a pass this year..... I think. I don't think the organization is "married" to RG3 if a new coach comes in. That could possibly change everything. |

Perhaps the off season will include some helpful RGIII soul searching. |
Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
I'm pretty sure Griffin doesn't think he knows it all.
Ego comes with the territory of being a QB. |
Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
I just had a thought, it feels great to finally have a franchise QB. Our problems will take care of themselves much quicker this offseason with the QB question answered. Ill remember this thread next year. The line is going to be wrapped around the building to want to play or coach RG3.
|
Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
No, I do not unequivocally believe RG3 is our franchise QB. I believe there is plenty of reason to believe that there are cracks in the foundation. He's made poor decisions this year and I'm concerned he may not be the long term answer we thought he would be after a stellar rookie season.
I would also like to say, that I'm not saying RG3 can't develop into a top QB in this league. All I'm saying is that the debate is still open for him being a franchise QB. I believe missing this offseason hindered his development more than anticipated. Not as much the preseason as the repetition and learning that takes place during the offseason. I still think RG3 is recovering from the knee injury and is not yet 100% physically or emotionally. |
Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
I want Cousins and our 2 first round picks back.

Yes, he can be a franchise QB. It would be nice if he stays here, that there is better than poor to fair talent around him. Griffin cannot be expected to be 75% of the offense on a weekly basis. A somewhat sophisticated passing scheme would help the QB and enable a decision on whether you have a "franchise" QB or not. Does anyone know if there are audibles and or any decisions made at the line of scrimmage? It's kind of hard to be a "franchise" QB if your not "coached" to be one. |

Yes.

Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
Gotta say its tough to develop a pocket passer when he doesn't have a pocket to stand in. I can't more disappointed in out interior oline. Talking heads keep saying it because he's not a run threat this year, but damn our line did an excellent job pass blocking last year. Gotta build around him with an oline and a couple receivers.

It doesnt matter what I believe or want. I want to wear my number 10 jersey every game day for the next 10-15 years while Griff wins championships for the Skins. Who doesnt?
The fact of the matter is that the guy is human, and he may or may not have a great career. There are alot of things that could prevent that, injury? Coaching? Weapons around him? Protection around him? Scheme? Most importantly - what the young 23 year old kid has inside of him in the way of ability and smarts? We havent seen a whole hell of alot of him yet. Only time will tell at this point, but I feel a hell of alot better still with our current QB than I have since I watched number 7 all those years ago. |
Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
he's not bad at all...he's number 8 over all in passing Yard leaders as an individual QB...he isn't the problem.
he does what he 2013 NFL Player Passing Stats - National Football League - ESPN |
Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
I have seen teams mismanage their best assets before, so nothing is decided at this point. But I'd bet on Griffin before any other young quarterback, including Luck.

that's a bit ridiculous. Luck is a proven commodity I wouldn't want to pass on |
Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
A lot of people blowing what Moss said up. I don't know if ANYONE has realized this, but no matter what his performance. If RG3 has done well, or played poorly. He's always assessed the situation in a TEAM PERSPECTIVE. Never once has he said, he's played well or badly. He's always said the TEAM.
So, i'm not sure why anyone is surprised that he still does it. It was okay with everyone when we were winning. Now people are just looking for shots. Still remember when I couldn't even hear myself think because the whole stadium was chanting RG3 all game. Now, it's like you want this guy thrown out the stadium. Many QB's have bad seasons. It happens, and it doesn't mean they are bad QB's. Many variables are included in running an offense. |

Year 2- he says the team needs to be better and yada yada when rob has stunk like dogshit.
I don't think I'd pass on Luck, but I'm not sure how he is proven any more than Nick Foles (who has been better than Luck) or Griffin.
Luck was solid and nfl ready since college and is working toward being a true professional. Foles had a so-so college career w/ an upside and his nfl experience this year is producing 10x as much than his rookie year. Griffin has yet to take the leap from an NCAA mindset and offense style to something that will last in the nfl Of the 3 mentioned rob is least developed as an nfl QB and Foles is getting close to proving he could be a #1 for a lot of teams soon. I think that is what the Luck is proven about. Also it helps that Luck was on a team w/ new coaching a d systems and even lost that coach to illness, and still took them to the postseason. I agree 100% that luck is battle tested moreso than Foles/Rob. You've never see. Luck on commercials eating up the limelight, beat boxing, meeting with Obama or top celebrities, tweeting fortune cookie mantras, running w recklessly to an ACL, having his pops criticize the team, and certainly not leading a team to a losing record. Oh hands down Luck is proven. He shuts up and comes to work. Rob is planning his wardrobe a d stuck in the mirror why Luck is growing a neck beard and doing man shit. I'd trade Robert and the next 3 1st to get luck just to be rid of a diva centered around our failures. Think about that WP |
After the Packers game this year Griff said something to the effect of , "put that on me - im not afraid to take the blame for that". "We didnt start fast because of me".
|
Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
I wouldn't have traded 3 1st to get Robert but to get Luck and to get rid of Robert and the read option, I'd bundle 3 1st and Robert. Maybe then Kyle could have a stellar career or lead us to success b/c rob and RO WILL NOT!!!
Not unless we can have 3-4 Robs per year and dispose of 1-2 after each season ending ACL. But who wants to bring a cartoon or Madden game to life? Just cut the nonsense bull-ish out and play NFL football before nfl changes the team name and makes it so soft and PC that women are allowed to play and we lose the sport forever. The window is closing to having any sort of satisfaction of winning a Super Bowl and being proud of what it took to earn it. |

It will eventually fade into the playbook as Robert becomes a better passer and becomes better at going through his progressions. |

Sadly we will need know. Kyle may or may not last another year. Either way, the system will change. Last season was supposed to be IMO the transition year. I mean from Kirks draft day, he has only been acquired for a trade. Long term development for either seems to never have been considered. But that's another worn out one sided winning debate over wreck less QB mgt. this is my nightmare. |
Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
RG3 is the Franchise QB....if we bring in a coaching staff that he's comfortable with and that will develop him quickly (Art Briles). If not, expect to lose him via trade next year or in FA the following year.
|
Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
It's McNabb all over again. It's not Robert's fault, it is Shanny's fault. Now all of a sudden RG3 turns into McNabb at the end of his career? Only common thread is Sahnny suggesting the QB is not working hard enough or something like that. Shanny needs to man up, Joe Gibbs did.
|
I think sophomore slump, major knee surgery with no off season work, a poor oline, and questionable coaching have a hell of alot more to do with his bad season than him wanting to look good for games. Lol. Can we give the kid one more year with all those fixes before we trade him.......my goodness.

Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
Not questioning Luck's professionalism, just saying that he's been about as expected in the league thus far. He's still young and will get better.

Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
^ I think Luck has been awesome. Remember that same team went from a horrid season to a playoff team in his first year. They look pretty good this year too. The guy never loses back to back games.
Nick Foles has one of the best running backs in the league, a defense that is quietly become very good, and has played absolutely nobody during his recent "rise to the top". Luck is better than Foles hands down. |
Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
I just think people need to remember that losing brings out the worst in everybody. RGIII isn't immune to that either. You need to remember - RGIII is a young pup and this is probably the first time he's had to face such adversity when it comes to football. He needs to learn how to deal with it - that's the only way he becomes a better player. He has the tools and the brains. Give him time. He is a franchise quarterback.

Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
I think this rough season could be a good thing for Griffin in the long run. Everyone needs a reality check sometimes.
|
Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
It is still six games left. If they had of pulled out the Minnesota game and the last minute come back Sunday, RG3 would be looked at as a god again.

About time someone told it like it is Moss speaking up which makes me believe maybe he isn't the long term answer. What a waste that would be. I guess everyone has heard about Moss's comments but have seen no discussion about it. But Moss isn't happy if you haven't heard. Maybe everyone else on the team has said the same and I haven't heard about that yet. |

Really? They were 2-14 the year before he took over. People were saying Manning should win the mvp and he didnt even play! Lol. The team obviously had lackluster talent on both sides of the ball minus Manning. Insert Luck and they go from 2 wins back to the playoffs for consecutive years. Give the guy some credit. |

They went 2-14 mainly because they had garbage QB play. If Manning was healthy do you really think they win 2 games? |
