True. I also forget he was a pretty nasty PR. |

My thoughts exactly, also he is younger. Sam Shields has similar number to Verner, and wants to get paid after the GB snubbed him last year with a 1 yr RFA contract. There are certainly a few options out there at corner, and we have some room to play with, and they aren't ancient like Deion was, and I really hate how we haven't had a shutdown corner in years, and. . . |
We need to take the BPA. Or, with the second pick in the second round, make a trade back to pick up picks in the inevitable scramble to the front of round 2.
Not the dreaded trade back! How many times have we screwed that up? FA first. Then assess the remaining positions of need. Then draft the BPA at a position not addressed in FA. But what do I know? |

However, there seems to be potential to move back (not far) for good reward at the top of round 2 with the way the draft is spread out now. |

For example, this is what happened with the 2nd pick in the second round last year: No. 34: San Francisco → Tennessee (D). San Francisco traded this selection to Tennessee in exchange for Tennessee's second- (40th) and seventh- (216th) round selections in the 2013 draft, along with Tennessee's third-round selection in the 2014 draft |

Re: 34th Overall Pick
That sounds alright depending on who is left on the board. 6 picks back can mean a lot in the second round, or it could mean very little.

Absolutely. If we can fill a need, do it. If we can fill a need with the same quality player and pick up more picks, then do that instead. |
Re: 34th Overall Pick
Would you rather have Niles Paul, or Josh Morgan? Chris Thompson?
In Decker's rookie year, he returned 22 kickoffs for 556 yards, an average of 25.3. He would be better than anything we have right now.
In his rookie season Pierre Garcon returned kicks, doesn't mean I want him back there now, Decker is gonna get a good chunk of change this off-season. Not gonna risk him there. We can find a kick returner, not to mention Richard Crawford will probably taker over for him when he comes back. |

My BEST Walt Harris memory was him stopping the Cowboys short at the Monday Night Miracle and he's doing the "incomplete" sign. That's the ONLY thing I'll remember about him. |

I haven't been overly impressed with Decker, but hey, I wasn't impressed with Garcon thinking, "Just a product of Manning." even when he was catching balls from Painter and whoever else was throwing him the ball. |

I will remember how he left us and had 8 interceptions for the Niners. |

This. I remember him being a shitty corner for us and then having a Pro Bowl year with the Niners. Same thing happened to Rogers. |

I've always felt like we let people go only to have them have breakout seasons with other teams. There's a huge long list of ex-Skins I don't even wanna bother naming. |

As much as I thought GW was a great defensive coach, he was very Shanahan-like in his, "this is my system and it works". Way too much of that. Just draft highly regarded players and hope they play like they should versus saying, "well this is an athletic lineman, let's draft him even though he wouldn't start for 31 other teams in the NFL." Also, HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! |

As long as it isn't a QB, TE, or K, I'll be happy.

Re: 34th Overall Pick
I think with a full salary cap I don't mind seeing the team taking the best player available as long as it is reasonable.

Re: 34th Overall Pick
I don't want to jump the gun here but I think we might actually get the 33rd overall pick, if memory is correct I remember hearing about later rounds the order being switched up at the top of the round. Maybe it's not a big deal, or maybe it's the difference between a bust and a HOFer. I'm hesitant to say it's true until I see the official 7 round order come out though.
Edit: We might have a chance, according to this nfl.com link the Jaguars (who picked 2nd overall last year) had the first pick in the second round. |

1st round - Healthy RGIII for 2014
2nd round - best OL available 3rd round - best OL available 4th round - best OL available 5th round - best OL available 6th round - best OL available 7th round - best OL available This is only a slight over exaggeration! Our O-Line is atrocious and it's unwatchable at times. *edited to remove the redundancy of original post. Pointed out by this site's official editor in chief that posted below me. |

Re: 34th Overall Pick
Between our draft picks and free agency I'd like to see AT LEAST 2 new starting O-Linemen, a new starting ILB, and a new #3 CB (Assuming Amerson is now a starter, and Wilson is gone, which he has to be).

Re: 34th Overall Pick
No question. Cyril Richardson.

Re: 34th Overall Pick
I think BPA is the way to go. But we must take advantage of the strength of this draft. The strongest parts of the draft will be OT and WR. Taking a stud OT that falls out of the 1st round would anchor our line across from Trent. We do desperately need another WR across from Garcon. D Adams, K Benjamin, J Mathews, or D Moncrief are all names to consider. This draft seems very weak at DL, maybe waiting until the 3rd/4th for a McCullers would be smart even tho I think our DE position needs a serious upgrade. As far a BPA goes is a Sefari-Jenkins at TE falls is be hard pressed to pass on such a potential stud who can not only catch the ball up the seam but can also block, thus improving our OL while simultaneously adding a weapon for RG3. A few small school studs who will surely rise through the draft process I will do a later post on with more info but for people to keep their eyes on are:
Pierre Desir CB Lindenwood Billy Turner OT North Dakota State Joe Don Dunkan TE (can't remember school name right now) |
No question. Cyril Richardson.
If he's still available, that would be my no-brainer selection too. But I think he'll be taken in the first round. Being 6-5, 340, and one of the top ranked OGs available will do that for you. |
Re: 34th Overall Pick
I always like BPA approach to the draft, but we can't waste this pick on RB, FB, QB. And it'd be wise to really focus on OL given our lack of quality there.

Soon the rumor mill will start that the skins are trading rg3 and next years 1 and this years 2 for the 1 this year to take Johnny Football. Lol
Unwise move, in my opinion. If I'm the Texans, I keep that pick and take Bridgewater. McNair said, "Maybe we'll trade down and still get a quarterback that can do the job and get an outstanding defensive player." Perhaps so, but Houston needs an outstanding offensive player, namely QB, much more than an outstanding defensive player. |
I think Houston's window has shut for a SB, the offense is older and foster is always hurt. They should deal him actually and keep Tate. Watt is really good but that's pretty much it on D, Cushing again is injury prone

Re: 34th Overall Pick
Schaub never got over the hump so neither did the Texans.

So after 95% of the bowls have been played out there, is there anybody you guys like?
