And now NFL Network/ESPN et. al get a full evening worth of serious NFL discussion time in the middle of March |

Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread
safeties getting paid today, wow.
and mitchell for 5mill would be overpaying. he's had 1 good season, and i like him, but not like that. |

Jacksonville traded QB Blaine Gabbert to SF for a 6th round pick, per sources. We got Kerrigan and Jarvis Jenkins(i think) Jacksonville got a 6th round pick. Gotta give Shanny/Allen a win on that one
Calling Johnny Football to Jaxville. |
Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread
Wow, safeties getting snapped up at a ridiculous pace. I hope we get one of the three good ones still available.
|
Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread
TJ Ward to Denver
|
Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread
Linval to Minnesota

Well, poop. |
Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread
Ward only went for 5.5 million a year
|
Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread
Yeah, I saw that.
Whitner 7M/year Bethea 6.5M/year Jenkins 5.5M/year Ward 5.5M/Year Is the market for Byrd down to 8m/year? Mitchell and Clemons still on the market. |
Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread
Byrd on his way to New Orleans for a visit. Don't know how they can afford him and Graham.
|

Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread
Yup. That what it seems like to me.
IF Byrd is out there for 8M/Y, I think hard about that one. |

IF Byrd is out there for 8M/Y, I think hard about that one.
I think we have to seriously consider that. Either way, we need a safety. Byrd or Mitchell by the end of the night would make me happy. |

Gotta give Shanny/Allen a win on that one
They also missed on JJ Watt. But they did win the trade that day, they just made a draft mistake. Either way Gabbert has been terrible, surprised they got anything. |

Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread
Byrd apparently rejected a 10M/year deal from Buffalo.
AP Sources: Bills talks with Byrd reach standstill | Pro32: Head to Head
People familiar with the situation told The Associated Press talks have stalled and no further discussions are scheduled after the Bills made a lucrative, multiyear offer to Byrd. Without revealing the full value and length of the offer, one person said Byrd would have been paid about $30 million over the contract's first three seasons.
It is unclear how much of that was guaranteed but apparently it was a significant chunk (18M?). I think, regardless of where he ends up, he is not going to match that now. |
Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread
Maybe he wants out of Buffalo. For 4yr/32 mil I would definitely bring him in, but if he's rejecting 10/yr from Buf I don't see us in the running.

F*CK. Mitchell signed with the Steelers.

Link? If so, damn. I wouldn't have overpaid for him but this safety market is drying up fast. I don't want to end up with leftovers. |
Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread
Not a lot of safeties left on the market who can step in and start. Pretty much Byrd and ...
Cuts both ways I guess. |

Mike Mitchell to the Steelers

Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread
How is it that we didn't land either Linval Joseph or Arthur Jones?
|
Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread
Thomas DeCoud is available and would be a nice pick up
How is it that we didn't land either Linval Joseph or Arthur Jones?
I guess this is what the anti-Redskins method of free agency feels like. Weird to see us letting all the top talent go to other teams. |
Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread
Thomas DeCoud is available and would be a nice pick up
Idk how good he is, but I have a hard time trusting a safety from a team with major defensive issues like the Falcons had last year. |
Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread
How is it that we didn't land either Linval Joseph or Arthur Jones?
Do you sense that they are much stingier with contracts to defensive players than offensive ones? Just a feeling.

Not so sure about that: Rotoworld - Fantasy Football, Basketball, Football, Baseball and Hockey. We don't expect him to have a strong market. DeCoud turns 29 in eight days.
|

True enough. At the same time, just b/c he's from Cal, doesn't mean he's a good pick-up either. It doesn't sound like he will be in all that high demand. Plenty of time to kick the tires on him and see if still has skills. |

It's looking like Merriweather

Chris Clemons is still available?
