Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
I'm thinking that:
1) We looked pretty good, but came up short again - special teams and defense kills us again. 2) We should invest high round draft picks on D again - corner (replace hall), safety, Dline. 3) If Cousins keeps this up, we could consider trading RG3 and salvaging something for the 3 first rounders + 2nd rounder.. 4) We should've kept the other kicker, who could freaking kick it out of the end zone and eliminate returns entirely. |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
Meh. No matter who's the coach or the QB, this team (franchise) simply finds ways to lose. Doesn't matter if the QB throws for 500 yards, something else will screw up. It's been this way for twenty years and isn't changing now.
This team is 1-2 and people still think they're some juggernaut that's about to break loose. Nope. This isn't college football where a close loss might still give you some points in the standings. This is the NFL and there are no moral victories. Just another bad loss.
A loss in college football is far more devestating than a loss in the NFL. Just sayin.... |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
“We had plenty of chances offensively to do something: We threw a pick, we had the ball at the 40-yard line down three with four chances to get 10 yards and we couldn’t do that,” Gruden said. “Defensively, we missed some assignments again and gave up big plays, and special teams.
“ . . . We all had our hand in this — coaching, as well — in this defeat.” |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
I'm actually pretty happy. Think about the football we've seen in the past seasons? We had one year where we were competitive. ONE! I'm glad just to see us like we can hang, be in games near the end of them.

As painful as it was to lose in the manner that we did. This did make my day!

Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
We seriously need a kicker who can put the ball in the back of the end zone on kickoffs. If Forbath is going to be getting XPs blocked, and missing go-ahead 33 yard FGs in the 4th quarter, I'd like to see what Hocker could do in a real game, given the chance.

Ha. Don't get me wrong, I like winning. But, I'd much rather see a game like today where the skins look like a professional team than the Houston game where it looked horrible. |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
My notes on today's game:
1. ST lost this game, and Kai gots to go! 2. Cousins played a hell of a game (not looking good for team RG3), but he choked. He did, he had the win in his hands and he couldn't deliver. Sorry team KC, but until he wins a comeback, this will be hanging over his head. 3. Why couldn't we get a sack? Was last week a mirage? Were their receivers just getting open too quickly? Is Foles Jake the Snake incarnate? 4. Perry Reily needs to work on coverage, badly! 5. Did Merriweather even play today? 6. I was boosted for DJax and his F U touchdown! 7. Redskins are starting to look like a contender, if they could just get out of there own way. 8. I can't wait for South Park, sh#% looks funny as hell! 9. We want NY! Edit: 10. Cage Match: Saden vs. Gary84Clark, two crazies go in, one comes out! I'm taking bets. For the record, I'm team Redskins, I don't care who wins the starting QB job in the long run as long as winning games comes first! Bruce and Jay are gonna have one hell of a decision to make in a few weeks, and however this plays out it will be the defining decision of this Front Office. |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
I gotta say, when we got the ball back in great field position I thought that we were going to win. I was secretly hoping they would put Redd and his fresh legs in and let him steal the win, but what ever the case the fact that we couldn't get a first down at that point was purely pathetic.

After last weeks game and specially with Helu banged up (that was reported last week) I was expecting to see more Grant and Helu. I love the way those 2 play, Grant looks like he's been around for a few years, runs great routes and is smart. Redd would have been great to use today since Morris was getting pounded and would have spelled him without missing a beat. Last week Roberts and Grant made some big plays, I have faith in them regardless of rookie status. |

I am adjusting my fandom. We didn't win but we did good. So much better than before. Who needs a win as long as the stat sheet looks good.
Dont know how we're going to do with out DHALL honestly
I like to think we're capable of beating the Giants, but if Hall, Hatcher, and Reed are all out, our chances get a lot slimmer. Hopefully we get good news on those guys this week. On that note, having another game so quick really sucks. On the bright side, I guess, we'll have a long week to get healthy and prepare for the toughest game of the year. |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
Dont know how we're going to do with out DHALL honestly
It's gonna hurt having Hall out however, I AM excited to see more Breeland. The dude is a gamer. Forced fumble today and nearly a pick. He makes plays and once he has some real live games under his belt I could see him panning out nicely. I said this in the offseason and I stand by it, Amerson and Breeland are the new 1 & 2 Corners for us in the future. Lets see how they play together. Now if we could only get those Safety positions shored up.... |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
We lost DHall in that game....
Thats worse than losing Griffin because we have nobody to replace him And get a surprise pick 6 or multiple pick game. Amerson and breeland are capable and ready to step up but hall shadows the opposing one probally my fav player we got this sucks. |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
Tracy porter??? How does he go from being a #1 in oak last year being a tackle machine not too much blown coverage few nice outings to not being able to get snaps over biggers?
|
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
Like my prediction stated, the O was good the D not so much. If this team is going to have to score close to 40 points each week to squeak out wins then its going to be a long season.

The missed interceptions pissed me off. People pointing to the Cousins interception as one of the reasons we lost, as if no bonafide starter ever throws an interception, are idiots. Foles should have thrown 2 and no one says he should be a backup. I'll take 3 TDs to 1 INT anytime. Any team would. |

We may find out Garçon ran the wrong route on that last play, but I agree they have to get in field goal range and will reserve judgement on KC until everyone finishes their film breakdown. Even if it's on him, he still played a great game and was THE main reason they were even in the game. Team RG3 gets the doors blown off. If KC keeps playing like this, the job is his. If he happens to improve, which is entirely plausible, fuh-get about it! |

Keim on Cousins:
Cousins completed 30 of 48 passes for 427 yards and three touchdowns. Yes, there was an interception. Yes, he cooled off in the second half. In fact, according to ESPN Stats & Information, Cousins was 3-of-11 for 68 yards and an interception when the Eagles sent five pass-rushers or more in the second half.
Redskins QB Kirk Cousins shines against Philadelphia Eagles - ESPN If Cousins is kept relatively clean, he is great - rhythm passer, anticipates the route. I know on one of those throw Roberts got his head and hands around late on a perfectly placed pass. Anticpation on a blitz works both ways, WR have to cut off routes quicker and be ready to make a catch. |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
Reading twitter can really give me a headache. A couple things I don't understand from fans after the game yesterday. First the fan that feels they have to talk up rg3 almost in defense because if Kirk solid play and tear down Kirk in the process. And then the fan that wants to talk up Kirk one game this year to tear down rg3.

Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
I feel bad the 'skins lost, especially to the Eagles. But at the same time, I don't feel too badly about the loss. I actually felt this team continued to progress - with the exception of special teams. No Eagles fan can truly come out of yesterday's game feeling like they don't need to look over their shoulder. They will not win the division outright. It's still going to come down to the last couple of weeks of the season.
Cousins played fantastic, again. And even though Morris didn't have a great day, the dude fights for yards, and anything, he put a pounding on the Eagles' defense. This team is going to continue to improve as the season progresses. It's not going to take Gruden long to have this team winning the division and in the playoffs on a consistent basis. |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
Yes, once again everyone played fantastic except when it really mattered...

These guys need to grow the hell up in a hurry.
Yeah. It's like watching the game I never got excited, not once. I had a pretty strong feeling they'd blow it somehow. Even with the offense tearing Philly apart in the first half. That was a perfect example. By all accounts it seemed like the Redskins were kicking their butts all half, but....they went into the locker room trailing. It's always something. The offense plays great (and let's face it, Jacksonville's and Philly's defense leave a lot to be desired, so we'll see if this pace continues) and the defense and special teams screw it up. Or it's the other way around, etc. What frustrates me is all the talk in the media and from fans about how it was a good effort and they showed fight, etc. It was a loss...in the NFL you don't get style points, you need wins. No matter how ugly. Stupid mental lapses on defense and stupid penalties doom this team all the time. They sure show a lot of cockiness (Jackson's dancing, the ball spinning every time someone catches an eight-yard pass, cheap shots and pointing) for a team that's won one game (over a horrid Jax team) out of their last 11 going back to last year. They better get to work fast this week and stop patting themselves on the back or NY will come in here and surprise them. |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
You can be darn sure that other teams will learn from that.
I don't know what you're watching. He's been blitzed plenty and, for the most part, he's gotten the ball out quickly and made the Defense pay. I hope the Giants blitz. I think they'll get punished for it. Some of his inaccurate passes had nothing to do with pressure. |

When a QB throws 48 times there's going to be an INT or two. Do people realize this? We dropped two by Foles. Also with that many attempts there's going to be sacks. Oh wait... For a guy making his 5th start and is still getting use to all the 1st team WR's, KC was outstanding yesterday. What QB's yesterday played better than he did? Luck? Maybe Foles? And speaking of Foles, he's one hell of a QB. |

I agree. RG3 CAN'T play right now. How can there be a controversy when one guy is injured and can not get on the field. There is only 1 option right now, and it's Kirk Cousins. 1 game wasn't going to determine anything. He's the starter for at least 6 more games, so let's wait and see. But 400 yards and a 3 to 1 TD to INT ratio is damn good for a guy making his 5th career start against a legit Super Bowl contender on their home field. Yes, he didn't get us in field goal range on the last drive, but even the most elite QBs in the league aren't perfect. How about Aaron Rodgers yesterday? 7 points? How did Brady look against the Raiders? We're not even in the game without KC. Let's just see how he does over the next 6 weeks. If he consistently fails to deliver in the clutch, then we'll probably get RG3 back and need to get fully behind him. |

It's getting old. It will play itself out but one of them is going to have to be traded next off season. |
Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game
When you come away knowing that your backup QB has come this far, to the point where you have two starting caliber QBs, you have to be very happy.
That's an extremely good Eagles team that we went toe-to-toe with. They are a legit super bowl contender and we almost beat them in their house. We lost lane discipline on the kickoff return for a TD, that was extremely disappointing. Otherwise I'm very happy with that game, aside from the injuries. I think we have reason to believe the Redskins will be very competitive all season long. |
