On quick timing plays yeah. But if you noticed even when Cousins was playing he threw picks when he had too much time. ON play action there are no quick releases. On deep routes there are no quick releases. I think Gruden calls different plays when RG3 is in the game. Sooner or later the o-line has to block. Even when Cousins was QB, Polumbus is what really ruined his career.
Cousins threw picks because of erratic accuracy and poor decisions, not because of timing.

BTW on play action and deep routes there still typically are quick release opportunities to safety valves. And you can still throw the ball away, much of the time anyway, even if no safety valve is available.

Think what you want. But my guess is that Gruden is constantly talking to RGIII about timing. This is not a new concept - Jerry Rice is a HoFer in part because of the YAC he got from a timing based offense.
No one is calling for RGIII to do stupid things. But he has plenty of room to speed up getting the ball out. And quickly and safely throwing the ball away beats a sack every time.

Gruden's offense is based on timing which leaves receivers getting lots of YAC. A slow delivery from the QB gums up the works pretty badly.
Of course he calls a different game - Griffin can do things KC can't. At the same time, if you don't think timing is a large part of Gruden's offense, well, we have been watching different teams.

and, sorry, several of Kirk's INT's had nothing to do with how much or how little time he had in the pocket. Many were quick but errant throws.

Re: Around the League...Week 9 Style

Easy to see why Luck is so much farther ahead than RG3, growing up in a pro style offense at Stanford vs an Art Briles college gimmick offense.

I really don't care for the Ravens or Suggs for that matter, but to me that doesn't seem dirty. Suggs is a tall guy and in today's NFL you have to aim at the mid section; Blount I would imagine is a short guy. At least in the angle shown here, Suggs ends up hitting him around the hip area; also the ref blows the whistle just as Suggs is making his tackle, so the play was still live.

I think since his progress looks pretty much stopped and Suggs goes from standing still to throwing his shoulder at the thigh/knee area its dirty. If Blount knee got slightly turned while the hit was in progress, Suggs ends his season. I think its dirty

The play was still live up until Suggs makes his tackle. If anything, the refs should've blown the whistle earlier. Suggs probably should have tried to wrap him up, but defensive players don't seem to do that anymore.

Honestly, I imagine the British media (known to be rather persistent) will tire of this clown by week's end. How sweet would it be for the Jags to beat the Cowboys. After all, the CowboysUK, as we all know.

10/30......2 INTs with a 14.6 rating in the 4th.

EDIT: make that 10/33 ..........3 INTs with a 2.0 rating. God damn that's horrible.

Nope. Dalton was just turrible. Granted, his OL and WRs didn't help much at times either. When AJ Green has 2 drops, you know it's a bad night for everybody. The Browns secondary (Haden/Skrine) played lights out.

Being there under Zimmer and learning under Zimmer are two different things. Based on the Bengals D this year he didnt learn much. They are giving out yards like halloween candy.

That's the guy Jay wanted to hire. He was a coach here back when in the Spurrier years.

I think the Bengals have been hit by a lot of injuries on defense

Seems like we all agree that Haslett does not have alot of talent to work with but he doesnt get the most from what he has. So now we are going to go after a guy whose squad has allowed 500 more yards in offense than our putrid D? The Bengals are certainly not the least talented defense in the league injuries or not. Ill pass.

This again is a problem of bringing in a new head coach and then the Owner/FO telling him the DC stays.

HC needs to have a strong say in who he works with...again this is a failure of the Owner/FO. And we are left with doing the samething we should have done last year, bringing in a new DC when the season ends.
