Re: Your First round pick for the skins?
On the S front, here are some encouraging news and I like what I've seen:
2. One young player who will get some more playing time is Phillip Thomas. Brandon Meriweather did not practice yesterday and the word is that he will be out the last two games. Both Gruden and Jim Haslett have been impressed with him. Haslett said that Thomas really cut down on the mistakes a lot last week in his second start. Certainly nobody is willing to say that he’s the 2015 starter but it seems that he’s earning himself a shot. |

Wouldnt Saden be thrilled
Do you think that Mariota's game translates sufficiently into Gruden's offense to be worth a top pick? I don't. |
Re: Your First round pick for the skins?
O line has to be addressed first. I dont care if put Rogers, Brady, Luck, or Wilson back there..they would all get killed

Since we beat Jax, they likely have to win more to influence our pick. Edit: I was wrong since strength of schedule determines things. We stand right now #5. |

I think you easily take any one of those 4 over the best tackle in the league. without question. If the BPA is in an area of need then you take him...Id say trenches first in need, but you need to at least do your due dillegence with the QB spot. Thats all im saying |

Not sure, actually didnt see alot of Mariota game this year. I think Jay will do his homework on him...like he should. |
Re: Your First round pick for the skins?
If Phillip Thomas is starting to develop and if we can count on him, we can draft Derron Smith in the second. They have experience playing with each other. That will allow us to use the first rounder elsewhere.

That's not how it works tiebreaker for draft is Stength of schedule..before the game we won that with Jax..once season is over will be more clear since we have two games left with teams with winning records. |

it is a joke ..... I have no confidence in the staff making the right moves in the draft, or free agency |

Yup, you are right. |
Re: Your First round pick for the skins?
We likely will have a top 6 pick. You don't use such a pick on the OL except for LT, and we already have one of those. Paying two LT salaries is a cap buster. So IMO we don't draft a tackle right away.
So what's the plan? Move down in the first round and then pick an OL? Dallas has three young 1st Round picks playing on their OL - and they are good. We need to pick OL in the first round, too. I don't want any more shitty Redskins third round OL picks. Hell, we should give away our third round pick for what good it does us from year to year. I don't trust this FO to pick an OL in any round other than the first. I want a bonafide consensus stud so our FO doesn't have to think too much. |
Re: Your First round pick for the skins?
A 1st round pick doesn't guarantee anything, many busts out there.
|
Re: Your First round pick for the skins?
If Leonard Williams is still there at say 5 then that must be a consideration surely? We will probably have a new DC and so it might be a case of "okay which young player do you want to build your future defence around?"

Leave the draft with a first round tackle and the first guard off the board: trade back into the later first, picking up a second rounder, then: late first: Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame early second: AJ Cann, guard, South Carolina late second (from trade): Derron Smith, FS, Fresno St. 40% of the OL overhauled before even the 40th pick |

I think he will be a top 3 pick, but yes I'd take him at 5 over everyone |

Oh yeah, we'd better get more than just a #2. But the focus of the discussion here was on round one so I let that go for now, especially since compensation likely would include a pick or two from 2016. |

Ok sorry about but that...depending on far back in 1st round it could include the other teams 1st rounder in 2016...but with our FO I don't think we would get it. |

.
I only posted through two rounds. Safety was one of my picks. Please look again. As for pass rush, I would use our 3rd round pick on Trey Flowers, DE from Arkansas. |
Re: Your First round pick for the skins?
switch to a 4-3 defense, with Kerrigan, and Hatcher as the Defensive Ends..... OLB Murphy and Riley MLB Robinson
add a great player or two to the front 7, get a good veteran FS, and draft another SS trading down is a must, there are several great player in the top 10 worth trading up for, however it is going to take more than one or two good draft picks to turn things around.... they need 5 draft picks to contribute, and at least 5 good free agents |

Re: Your First round pick for the skins?
In 2011, didn't we trade out of the 10th pick and move down? How'd that work out? I think JJ Watt was sitting there at that spot and we lost out on that pick. Not a fan of trading back in the first round. Get the best player. Hopefully that's a dominant player. Landon Collins reminds me of Landry, great hitter, great player in the box, but can he cover Zac Ertz? Shit, that dude had like 15 catches yesterday. Not sure Collins is that guy.

The problem with taking the best player available is the Redskins cannot tell who he is.....New England has built their team by trading back |

I want a dominant lineman. Don't care which side.

I would much rather see us get a DT or DE rather offensive lineman in the first pick. We are alarmingly aging on the defense side of the ball and a young powerful defensive lineman would be a great installment to our young linebackers and secondary |

I feel like a stud RT would go a long way too. But like I said I wouldn't hate a pick from either side. We definitely need to beef up both lines. |
Re: Your First round pick for the skins?
Skins need a Khalil Mack clone to complement Kerrigan.

Agree about DT or OT, and DO think we need a DE, but this franchise can't afford a bust at DE since that position is alarmingly high with them: WalterFootball.com: NFL Draft - How Often Do Offensive Tackles Bust? Which positions are the safest to draft in the first round? I 100% agree that we need better pass rushers, but that's a position we need to take a chance on after we've rebuilt the offensive line and defensive line. |

I don't think I want to use a top 10 pick on a RT when I can get someone that can just be a wrecking ball in the backfield and allow Kerrigan to get close to 20 sacks a season. |
Re: Your First round pick for the skins?
OL, DL, or S best player available

Kerrigan is a good player and has proven a lot to me this year... But I highly doubt he will ever be close to 20 sacks in one year. He still is doing a great job this year and has definitely proved his worth this year. |

Top D Lineman = Leonard Williams DT/DE US reminds me of Gerald McCoy Top O Lineman = Andrus Peat OT, Stanford Either would make me happy. |

That would be Shane Ray from Missouri or Randy Gregory from Nebraska |
