Re: Haslett Skins Part Ways
I would love to see Wade Phillips step in.
I think it's funny people are saying Snyder needs to back the truck up to [insert name]. Even if the decision was forced on Gruden, Let him now have the opportunity to bring in "his" guy. This year is now his to set a course for the Skins, and he ought to have full say in who heads the defensive side of the ball. I also am ok with Allen staying in the role he's in. It may be not the Mercedes, but it's not a Pinto either, and too many changes confuse the issue of who is holding the keys. Lets say we bring in a B+ or A- candidate, now is he going to make the calls, if so does Gruden get another year because the A- candidate pushed a different group on him? Get the defense coached right, bring in top notch Safeties, and RT. And draft solid OL/DL. That's what I'd like to see. |

That creates plenty of doubt about his ability to select a quality DC. |

I've seen all I need to see of Bruce Allen as a talent evaluator. If Snyder wants to keep him on to organize alumni events, coordinate Harvest-Fest, or handle public affairs, fine. But please keep him out of the room when it comes to building a roster. The 'He's not a Pinto either' outlook is absolutely not the attitude I want for this organization ever again. We need leaps and bounds better than what we have and we need it right now. |

I think anybody who wants to be able to say "I turned that franchise around" would come here. Only problem is Snyder has to want to hire that person first. |
Re: Haslett Skins Part Ways
So who's out there? So far I heard Rex, Phillips, Norton Jr. so far.
|
Re: Haslett Skins Part Ways
I would interview Brian Baker, he needs to be given a chance, Kirk Olivadotti is another one.

That's a a fair question. The following all would be eligible to become our GM (that is, it's a vertical move for them): Tom Heckert, Broncos Brian Xanders, Detroit Chris Ballard, KC Nick Caserio, New England Tom Gamble, Philly Of course there are many more possibilities. The following links talk about a number of folks: NFL general manager candidates: new names and familiar faces - NFL.com Top five general manager candidates | National Football Post As for "will they come here?," who knows, but we wanted Gruden, Shanahan, and Allen before and got them all. |
Re: Haslett Skins Part Ways
I think they will pick a veteran like Phillips or Singletary to help Gruden as a new HC. Although I am the biggest fan of Norton being hired to implement Seattle defense. If Seattle loses its DC Norton may be next in line for that job.
Hopefully the next DC gets some serious help when it comes to talent on that side of the ball.
Not excusing Haz at all but with the injuries and a flat out lack of quality talent it's hard to see any coach having much success. The safeties have been horrible for years, corner is always thin, and outside of Kerrigan this year no consistent pressure.
Way to ruin a good old lynch mob. Don't you know it's all about scheming?? Haslett is a moron...if only we'd had Rex we'd have been a top 5 D the last 4 years!! Ok boys on to the next scapegoat... who's up next? Gruden? Allen? RG? |

Gamble was let go in Philly.

That's not true. The win was to explain how you plan on fixing this team. Not sidestepping all the questions and making ridiculous jumps. Allen brings value to the Redskins franchise, but not in the personnel department. What I want to hear from the man running this team is a plan, even if just hypothetical or names redacted, to fix the ship. The current course isn't working. |

To steal something mooby (I think) posted a while back that still sticks with me, let's party fellas...

I agree. I replayed the presser for about 10 mins, and it was just garbage. Bruce didnt even look serious or bothered by the status of the franchise. He gave the fans no vision and no hope things will change. Actually kinda sad imo, just same ole bs from Danny and Bruce. No substance. |

It looks like the Giants might keep Perry Fewell although I would love to see this happen.

Re: Haslett Skins Part Ways
This move doesn't change anything. We do this after every disastrous season. The organization finds one guy to take the blame, fire him, while ignoring the real problem with the team. Haz should have been fired at the end of last offense. What concerns me is the guy who brought him back is still charge.

It's still distracting fans from the horrible product he's putting on the field so, he'll call it a success! |

lol....knee jerk city..... |
Re: Haslett Skins Part Ways
lol....knee jerk city.....
I don't think things will ever change with this team until we find a real expert at evaluating rosters and talent. Haz is just the latest fall guy in a long list of fall guys. He sure as hell won't be the last. We're going to continue to see guys run in and out of here until we get a real GM. You just watch. Next year we're going to be a sub .500 team once again. Then Danny and Bruce is going to fire Gruden and promise once again to make some change. To bad it won't be the changes that's going to actually make a difference.
What's more troubling? The fact that a) it took this long, or b) Gruden wanting to keep him, or c) Bruce and Snyder made the decision?
Sionara Jimmy!
Actually, I think the most troubling thing is the lack of a winning stance or...."correct" move that the team could take (according to you).... No way to be correct for you, right? You crossed the line....long ago into Troll-ville HTTR |
Re: Haslett Skins Part Ways
Wade Phillips' son Wes is our TE coach. Not sure if that's a plus in terms of the likelihood he is a candidate for DC.

Re: Haslett Skins Part Ways
that solves the smaller problem. the bigger GM issue is still there though. picking too many bad players in the draft and FA.
for new DCs, wade would be alright with me. |
Re: Haslett Skins Part Ways
Haslett's units gave up too many points and too many yards during his tenure....based on that it was illogical for Gruden to keep him after last season. Haslett was in over his head already....keeping him only delayed the inevitable.

Nobody was going to buy anything he said. And they shouldn't, his track record here speaks for itself. |
