I thought he got released because he wouldnt accept a pay cut. He made the Pats secondary instantly better last year. He is certainly an upgrade for us and we need a corner bad. I wont be upset at all if he signs.
He'll cost more than he is worth. He has found his way out of town two years running. It has to be a red flag when a team brings someone in, then the following year asks them to take a pay cut, and then releases them when they don't.

There's got to be more to it, right? 4M and 1 year, for a player as high demand as he is? I don't quite get it.

If it's 1 year $4MM, that's a great deal for the Redskins. Gives them more room to work on one or two more FA's. If Pot Roast plays well, perhaps the Skins will sign him to a more lucrative extension starting in 2016.

I know that it's real, just don't understand the logistics from either side. Why only take 2M guaranteed on his part, and why do we only want him for 1 year?

Just seems odd.

It's because no one wanted to sign him 'cuz he's downed too many off-season pot roasts.

Re: Redskins 2015 Signings (and Re-Signings) Thread

$4M for a decent 2down NT sounds good to me. the key to free agency is basically to never EVER make a big money mistake, which is a lot easier if you're not handing out big money.

our NT is on a cheap 1 year prove it deal and can be cut at any time, paea is on a 4 year deal that will give us cap savings if he's cut at any time after his 1st season here. very low risk.

big question is whether scot goes big balls and decides that the RGIII/JG friction isn't worth it (not necessarily personal friction, but what jay wants vs what rob is). safer play is to take a pass rusher at 5, but if the iggles want to trade bradford and the #20 pick+, or scot loves mariota...

get one next year, unless we trade back quite a ways. we can pick up a minor upgrade this year in FA, but be prepared for a lot of garbage safety play or start praying that someone decides to turn in a career year.

I will say it again, if our front 7 can be dominant, our back 4 can look decent. The way Carolina does it

I dont think the Eagles are going to trade for Marcus. Wouldnt packaging picks along with Foles and his minuscule contract have been more tempting to teams than Picks plus Bradford and his two acl's and millions??
Im all for someone making us an offer for our pick but it makes no sense for the Eagles to be the team.

Understatement of the year. It starts at the top. All of the signings are team friendly and solid.

If he can string a couple of successful drafts together we will have depth and special teams.

We are winning the off season!

Agreed. LOVE this, hope it works. Signings to date are low money, low risk, relatively young, good locker room guys. Focus on lines usually pays off. If our DLine is better, our seconary is better. If our Defense is better, less pressure for Offense to score. May help Offense and whole team. It's a little strange for one year deal, it looks like Knighton may have taken it in part to ?play with Baker who is his best friend, but strange for both sides.

If we can get pressure on QB consistently, and hopefully even without blitzing - everything falls into place. Seems like major needs are still safety, CB, OLB, RT, and maybe OG.. But tons of time for low-money FA and the draft.

Love the direction we're headed, just seems smarter than in years past with good contracts.
