Re: All things Redskins training camp
Day 4 was the last day I attended. So I was going to post what I noticed while I was there. Take it how you want. I played college only at a Division II college level.
Just things that stood out to me. -Matt Jones is huge and nimble! Although he's always looking to run someone over it gets him in trouble. He runs high a lot of the time and I can't tell if it's just because he's so big or he isn't keeping his pads low. He takes as many blows as he gives. Reminds me of Barber from Dallas a few years ago. <snip>
I love this guy's playing style. Hopefully he's able to avoid serious injuries.
Tarik El-Bashir Tarik El-Bashir – Verified account @TarikCSN Gruden acknowledged that Matt Jones' physicality in practice has the attention of defenders, who are eager to return favor.#RedskinsTalk 11:53 AM - 3 Aug 2015
|
Re: All things Redskins training camp
Thanks again Bucket.
I'd love to see Moses develop into our RT with Scherff moving to G; mainly, because I think Scherff could be a great G rather than just a good T. |

Re: All things Redskins training camp
From reading what Kiem had observed RG III looks much better this year, and not incompetent like many projected heading into camp.
Very excited about the new defensive players and adding Junior G may end up being a coup for the Skins. We have potentionally 4 starting OLB and 2 proven pass rushers. I can't complain about that. I am very happy so far from what I have read. If we can keep it together and win some games early in the season the defense may carry us at the end. I can't wait to see this team in preseason. I just want to be able to watch 16 games of Redskins football this year. The last two I haven't made it to the end before I started planning things on Sunday. |

How does the team look in training camp? I keep reading stories about RG3 and the defense looking good.
What is the local media saying? |

Re: All things Redskins training camp
RG3 looks so good in the 2 minute drill. I think we should adapt a more hurry up offense because Robert does better when he can just play natural and not have to over think things. He was 8-8 today and 5-5 yesterday in the 2 minute

Re: All things Redskins training camp
Should I be freaking out already about CB position with Amerson, Breeland and Mitchell injuried? With a 30+ year old CB coming achillies injury?
I imagine we are looking to add a CB...? Are we hearing anything? |

From everything i have read from Kiem who doesn't sugar coat rg IIi he is have a solid start. The guys on here who have went have had good things to say. Quicker release, better foot work, better reads through progressions and movement. It's exciting. Seems as though they are laying a solid foundation as a team! |

The biggest take away was a remark by him talking about locker room and he had heard that in the recent past (last year) they were alot of "me" guys walking around....he said him and Chris Baker have let folks know that wont fly anymore and they will be called out to the floor. Interesting for sure...and I wonder directly who is talking about |

Interesting for sure...and I wonder directly who is talking about
Would be interested to know who, but at the same time I'd like to say it's all water under the bridge and hopefully they can move on. If we are successful this year it will be due to a team atmosphere and guys having each other's back. Hopefully we can lock up pot roast after this season as well as AM and TW. Trent would def be our franchise tag guy if we had to go that route |

Dreqan Hoskey CB signed. I believe another CB was signed...dont know who |

Re: All things Redskins training camp
Even with his injury in year one, Thomas had ample opportunity to step up.
In light of (1) the rookie Jarret's versatility (in addition to safety, he is practicing in the slot corner as well), (2) the return of Ihenacho, (3) the acquisition of Johnson and Goldson,(4) the fact that T. Robinson by-passed him in special teams, and (5) the current coaching staff and GM did not draft him, he was a long shot (at best) to make the roster. This was a mercy cut. |
Re: All things Redskins training camp
2013 Draft Picks:
2nd: D. Amerson - Still with us and likely to make the roster, but only as the 4th corner. May be his last year. 3rd: J. Reed - Could be great except that he is as frail as his name. 4th: P. Thomas - Nope. Just nope. 5th: Chris Thompson - Maybe he makes the team. Maybe he's out of football. 5th: Brandon Jenkins - They told us he was a steal. Turns out he wasn't. Out of football. 6th: Baccari Rambo - Best thing about him was his name. His cleats are still in the turf where Chris Johnson juked him out of them. 7th: Jawan Jamison - Who? Out of football. So, from the draft two years ago, we have a back-up corner & RB (both of whom may have topped out), and a really good but oft-injured TE. Yay! |
Re: All things Redskins training camp
I thought Rambo was headed for the Hall after he lucked into a 2 INT game last year.

Re: All things Redskins training camp
Surprised they didnt look at drafting a mlb this year. There must be some faith in Compton. Riley's deal is up after this year as well correct or does he have one more? Keenan will be a priority as well but let's make sure he can make it one more year with out ir.

Rated Garcon and Jackson 6th Tier WR's. That's just insane if you ask me. You switch them with any other 2 WR's in the TIER one category with those QB's throwing them the ball and they would both be hall of famers. |

So yeah, give them the QB's that the top tiers have, and they would be rated much higher. Fantasy ratings arent rating the individual, they are rating their expected production on the team they play for. If someone is rating RG3/KC/McCoy as a high rated QB, then their ratings as WR's would go up as well. But since that isnt happening any time soon, its low fantasy rankings for our WR's. Also, only DJ was rated as a 6th tier, Garcon was down into the double digit tiers. |

Considering where he was drafted he played ok very quickly. He wasn't expected to contribute at all last year. The man is huge. I like the buzz out of camp that the combination of the best 5 are going to play even if it means switching things around. |
