If you look at last years results we easily could have been 9-7. 10-6 if you considered the Seattle game winnable. That was with a revolving door at QB and imo a lesser talent pool on the roster. Thats the optimistic me. The pessimistic me thinks I say the same thing every year.
It's a fine line in professional sports, especially the salary cap leagues.

The NFL and NHL especially are brutally tough on teams being able to sustain and stay in playoff spots. The margin between winning and losing is extremely small.

MLB and NBA are getting there but still favor the big dogs.

So you aren't crazy...the difference between 6-10 and 10-6 can really come down to your schedule and a few clutch plays. The 10-6 chiefs in Reid's first year are the poster child for this. Not a great team but got some early clutch plays to get to 3-0 start. Gibbs v2.0 team that started 3-0 also similar...

Yeah our schedule this year is far from easy so we are going to need to stay healthy from this point on for the most part. We are also going to need to play smart and get lots of those clutch plays to bounce or go our way. Absolutely cannot afford to beat ourselves like we so often do.
I still think best case 7 wins. KC has a lot to prove.
Wouldn't it be awesome if he came in threw for 4,000 yards and 30 TDs?

(I think it may be time to stop drinking)

I'm looking forward to seeing this in the "I was wrong" thread at the end of the season. Still, a fan can dream. I don't think it'll happen this year but it definitely would be nice.

I would be the first to admit I was wrong if he succeeds. To be honest that could happen... but there also might be 25 interceptions to go along with those 30 touchdowns.

He may just do that...

to go along with his 35 INT's.

But here's the thing...those 35 ints will be spread on through only 3 games.

I'm going with 6-7 wins. We are thin at LB, secondary is still a mess, and on the O line Moses and Scherff are young and learning and will make some mistakes.

6-7 wins would be great, imo. 2-3 game improvement is hard to do. My biggest worry is the big plays our D has been giving up even in preseason. That takes the wind out of any team's sails.

The defense was pretty vanilla in the preseason. We also had a few starters out, mainly Kerrigan. I think the pass rush will be better just by adding Kerrigan back to the starting lineup. Im also hoping we do more than just zone with our secondary, which we seemed to stay in for the most part during the preseason.

I sure hope so. No doubt our front 7 is better than it was, so that's gotta help. But until we are solid all over, the big play will plague us. Part of the process, no doubt. But I think we're another season away. Gillett injury hurt.

I would rather see the Skins move the ball up and down the field and turn it over too much to win then get repeated 3 and outs without the turn overs.
It leads to the same end result (A loss), but it is a lot more entertaining to watch. The end results were similar between RG3 (2-5) and Kirk (1-4) last year
but the RG3 games were painful to watch (he averaged less than 200 yards passing) the Kirk games (He averaged almost 300 yards passing) were at least
somewhat entertaining and gave some hope for future improvement.

I just want to spend sunday's watching the team without constantly wanting to break my tv or go back to bed.

Re: It's REALLY here: PreSeason PostRG3 Prediction Poll

This team just has a 3-13 stench all over it. Training camp/preseason was a disaster.

Offensively: Changed QB late in week 3 with minimal 1st team reps going into the season. #1 WR missed most of camp. #1 RB looked pedestrian in each preseason game. #1 draft pick moved from T to G and didn't impress. #1 TE stayed injured (again) while #2 & #3 were lost for the season. The best looking players were the backup RB, #4, 5 & 6 WR.

Defensively: Best pass rusher didn't play a snap in the preseason (although he could have apparently) recovering from a knee injury. Next best pass rusher, lost for the season. Secondary is still a mess outside of maybe Culliver. Hall looked stiff and slow, Breeland recovering from injury, Amerson looks like Amerson, new safeties taking same bad angles and missing tackles. Teams are going to throw all over us again. Rather than big plays, because of Barry's scheme, they will dink and dunk all the way down the field and run up huge time of possession advantages.

Coaching staff - I'm not sure that any of our top coaches (HC, OC, DC) would hold those positions anywhere else in the league. Gruden has no leadership skills and I question his player evaluation skills as well. McVay and Barry are the definition of 'eh'. I don't see this group out scheming anyone or making the necessary adjustments as games develop.

The lone bright spot in the organization is McCloughan, I like what he did this offseason with player acquistions but he's going to need 3 years to completely turn over this roster and probably at least one more coaching staff change after this group is canned in January.
