Re: R.W. McQuarters
I also noticed on the WP calendar that your birthday is a week before mine. Rock on October b-days. It's a special year for me, 24.
Well, not really. Just another year closer to 30! :( |
Re: R.W. McQuarters
Holy cow, I WILL be 30.
Anyway I normally really agree with your posts and I think that is why I love this site, because of good topically discussions. I really think we had a pretty weak draft. I think we gave up a lot for the 25th pick (And if he is the next Culpepper then GREAT!) and we could have used a solid DE there with tat pick or used the first on a DE, or WR and picked up a good CB with the 25th. I think WILDS is going to be a hell of a player. He almost shut down Moss last year. Our WR are avg at best. We don't have to have a number 1 like Owens, Moss, or Holt, but I think we need role players in that position. Hopefully Taylor will pan out but that is a big "?" I really hope you are right, I am glad we aren't overspending on players, but we have invested and will invest a lot of money in the QB position this year and while it is important we shouldn't have 2 first round QBs and Brunell sucking away all that $$$... |
Re: R.W. McQuarters
I do agree with what you say about the 25th pick. I definitely think we gave up a lot for Campbell. Draftwise I think we were average. OffSEASONwise I think we did a great job.
|
Re: R.W. McQuarters
i like campbell. i don't care what we gave up for him though, because near the draft next year i don't i will hear a lot of complaints that we don't have a first rounder, that is, if the skins do good this season.
|
Re: R.W. McQuarters
No way you give up what we did for that pick...
Also we had a OK offseason. We did sign depth but no real studs unless the center we signed will be big for us this year. I am not saying I don't like Campbell. What I am saying is that we certainly had some choices and routes we could have gone with those 2 picks and I am not sure that we were effective in the draft this year. The pick I like the most is McCunes, considering where we took him and his upside. I am glad out of the CB available that high we got Rodgers... But we really could have use D line help and we didn't get it. |
Re: R.W. McQuarters
What I'm saying is based on what WAS available this offseason, we had one of the better offseasons in the league. Getting a stud doesn't define a great offseason. Prior to Gibbs coming back we had plenty of "studs" we took in the offseason and many would rate those as the poorest choices we could have taken. Could we have pursued Moss? Sure, but the price that would go along with him monetarily would have been great. Yes, we might have gotten a stud, but I don't think I would have categorized this offseason as great.
BUT, like I said before, it's VERY subjective. :) |
Re: R.W. McQuarters
Depth, depth and more depth.
With a D-line that can't be relied upon to generate much pressure on their own, it's critical that Williams has plenty of depth and versatility in his secondary. McQuarters would be a nice sign, plus he can return kicks.
Exactly Matty. I couldn't have said it any better. |
Re: R.W. McQuarters
No one is saying McQuarters is some stud. But, he'll add depth to a position that requires depth. Williams' system requires at least 3 solid corners (about half of his plays involve 3 CBs). With Rogers, Springs, Harris, McQuarters and youngsters Wilds and Brown, we've got a nice (but not too expensive) stable of corners.
|
Re: R.W. McQuarters
We are NOT going to get him for the league minimum...........he is a player! and will demand a little bit of coin, McQuarters would be a starter right away on the defense!
Uhmm... Ok? |
Re: R.W. McQuarters
Nice overreaction. Didn't the press conference address other issues too?
Who said anything about the press conference? |
Re: R.W. McQuarters
For the simple fact that GWilliams and Co have interest in him. If they think that he will be a good addition to the team, why should we question him? Maybe they actually know what they're doing; after all they did turn our D into one of the more feared units in the league last year.
OK... So not at all like the Alex Molden, Ralph Brown situation last year, or the short but sweet Redskins career of Cory " possible replacement for Sean Taylor " Hall, right? Thank you for clearing that up. |
Re: R.W. McQuarters
Let's be clear here, Hall asked for his release, so let's not pin this on the team as a bad move.

Re: R.W. McQuarters
So you don't like the way the defense is being managed?
Apparently every move the team makes has to be a homerun, otherwise it's a total failure and a lack of competence by the front office. |

Who`s pinning anything on the team? Did I say it was a BAD move? |

Where did you read that? |
Re: R.W. McQuarters
So what exactly is your take here, W_Redskins??

Yeah, really. |
Re: R.W. McQuarters
Where did you read that?
Well, it seems that you don't like any of the defensive decisions made regarding the players we've talked about here, which would mean you don't like the way the D is being managed. You're not making any sense. |

lol... Where do you guys get this stuff? OK... Let me clarify a few things for those of you who feel the need to become immediately defensive and attack another fans opinion while fully expecting your own opinions to be taken as the Gospel. I see these roster moves for what they are... The Coaches are having a look at these guys. Evaluating as many players as they can. This is smart! I get that... Do you? Or should we all have read into EVERY signing a little bit deeper? Like with Corey Hall, Maybe there was a plan to replace Taylor all along? Please... He`s a veteran... They had a look... It didnt work out... Oh well... Same situation with Molden and Brown last year... The team had a look and obviously didnt like what they seen and those guy`s are long gone... Oh well... Just stating the facts here guy`s so lighten up... Mmm k? |
Re: R.W. McQuarters
I agree that everyone tends to read too much into any signing, especially this time of year....but there's not much else to do, so why not?
I always find it amusing when someone (often Matty) will come back with a response saying something like "our prayers are answered, SB here we come!!!", especially if it's some no-name 3rd-4th string guy just hoping to make the team. Sarcasm is fun! Everybody just needs to remember not to take things too seriously... |
Re: R.W. McQuarters
It's funny reading your last statement and then looking at your avatar.

You were asking why people were drooling over McQuarters (nobody was), and now you're saying... I don't even know. |
Re: R.W. McQuarters
all people here were saying to begin with is he's an upgrade and we'd rather have him then AJ (well, there might be one disagreement)... nothing more.
Just stating the facts here guy`s so lighten up... Mmm k?
and no, I WILL NEVER LIGHTEN UP NOR DOWN!!!!!!!!!!11 |

This is usually where people like to proclaim thier status as " Regs " and call for reinforcement... I love that part. |

lol is right... Classic message boards butt buddy routine. One of you post something and the other immediately responds with a complimentary " lol "... All the while trying to systematically root out anybody who`s opinion differs from the collective supposition.
And for the love of all that is good in this world, keep the things that make your loins ache to yourself... Mmm k? |

This is a public forum and I will publicly proclaim any activity in the loin area. :)

Re: R.W. McQuarters
Redskins W, I can understand (sort of) what you've been saying. It just sounds like there was a massive miscommunication. Hopefully it's been cleared up. Welcome to the board.
But, if you are im fact Zack Mills, go away. |
All the while trying to systematically root out anybody who`s opinion differs from the collective supposition.
I have nothing better to do so I will jump in on this. I think most of us are confused as to what your opinion clearly is. Some of your statements seem to contradict each other all the while YOU are the one being defensive. We like to try to have intelligent discussions here where people can say what they want but everyone knows that whatever they say is fair game. If someone makes a propeosterous statement then they are going to hear it from other people. That is not rooting out it is simply part of the discussion. The only ones that get rooted out are the "agenda" posters who are here to argue and cause trouble. Are you one? |
