Re: With the 21st Pick, Redskins select...
Out of many picks I'd be happy with, Karl Joseph is the guy I'm kind of stuck on. Unless Elliott falls (and MAYBE Doctson) then Joseph is my top overall pick. I agree with the coaches who say he plays too hard for his frame, but that's what I want in a safety.
He's Sean Taylor-lite, and I'm not just throwing that type of praise out there without proof: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L88OIVNvsVA
He reminds me of Bob Sanders. Same size, exact same type of game. Could be a risky pick at 21 because he's coming off an ACL. |
Re: With the 21st Pick, Redskins select...
I really hope we can move back in the first round...Dream scenario:
Trade back with Tennessee to the 33 spot and obtain the 43 pick as well for the 21st pick. Pick Billings NT and Karl Joseph S. Trade the 53rd pick for Cleveland for the 65 and 77 pick and take BPAs. |
Re: With the 21st Pick, Redskins select...
if paxton or an OT are their at 21, there's a good shot at a trade. well, assuming someone wants them that high.

I think WRs Treadwell or Doctson could draw interest. |
Re: With the 21st Pick, Redskins select...
We have to take a wr somewhere. I just think they can be had in the 3rd or 4th rounds a la Crowder and Tyler Lockett. Still upset that we didn't take Lockett.

Ive heard from I think Tandler and a beat reporter that the Skins are super high on WR Michael Thomas out of Ohio St. Things change of course...could be a 2nd round target |
Re: With the 21st Pick, Redskins select...
i think doctsun has the highest ceiling and treadwell probably has the highest floor. i don't think we're taking a wr in the 1st though. it's either going to be trade down, trade down, or DT/C/maybe S.

Re: With the 21st Pick, Redskins select...
Think its time to get a poll going with some folks on who do you want with the first pick:
? |
Re: With the 21st Pick, Redskins select...
This year is kinda weird.
Usually I am zoned in on three or less guys I want/expect us to pick. Right now I have eight or ten guys in mind. |
Re: With the 21st Pick, Redskins select...
Our draft board when it comes to our pick at 21:
1. Vernon Butler 2. Jarren Reed 3. Karl Joseph 4. Laquon Treadwell 5. Noah Spence |
Re: With the 21st Pick, Redskins select...
the guys i want are:
1 trade down 2 trade down 3 whoever's good |
Re: With the 21st Pick, Redskins select...
the guys i want are:
1 trade down 2 trade down 3 whoever's good
To just say trade down is far too simple. There are probably more than two dozen players with solid first round grades in this draft, so it's possible that we could be sitting at #21 and have an outstanding prospect who we want fall into our lap. If that happens, you take him. |
Re: With the 21st Pick, Redskins select...
If one of the Alabama DTs is still there at 21, you gotta take him, don't you? Man, Robinson would be a steal at 21. So would Reed, for that matter, IMO.

sure if a great player slips you take him. However, Gil Brandt says there are 15 elite players and players # 16-50 are about the same level. |

Gil Brant is just one analyst. Bucky Brooks of nfl.com listed 24 players who he thinks have Pro Bowl potential. Who knows how many elite players there are or if a player we would want to take in the first round will be there at #21? Nevertheless, trading down in the first round is certainly not Plan A. Plan A is getting an outstanding player. |

Yep, I do not want to trade out of the first round. After that Scotty McClue can do whatever he wants. |
Re: With the 21st Pick, Redskins select...
Bob Rang, writing for CBS Sports, weighed in on the number of elite players in this draft:
"Clubs feel that there are an established Top 20 (so to speak) of true first round worthy prospects but that the final 11 picks could be spent on any of the next 30-40 prospects, depending strictly on team needs and character preferences and whatever runs on positions which may occur." Rang also thinks that as many as 5 QB's may be picked in the 1st round, possibly four of them before we pick, with the Jets taking a QB and the Browns moving back into the 1st Round to pick a QB. He thinks the 5th QB could be taken by Denver. The more QB's taken before we pick, the better for us. Heck, I hope somebody picking 1-20 picks a kicker or a long snapper. What if the Browns traded with us to get back into the 1st Round for a QB? They would be able to lay some nice picks on us. Even so, I would still want to pick at #21 if our guy is on the board but I trust Scot to do the right thing. |
