I hate to blame one play or 1 player but I'm going to:mad:
Kirk Cousins lost this game.
Yes some of the playcalling sucked{like the fade calls}but Kirk doesnt get the ball anywheres close on those fades, they we're terrible. He must be able to complete those passes in practice or why do you call it 4 times?
Then we know about the 2 overthrows and 1 underthrow that were sure td's and then theres the int.
Kirk is not a franchise Qb,franchise qb's rarely have 1 bad game but 3 in a row never happens{yes I'm going back to GB game}
Now the Kirk apologist will come out of the woodwork{just like they did for Griffin} and tell me I'm over reacting blah blah blah.
Kirk has had plenty of time to digest this offense and there are no excuses for him,he's average and that's it,he's def not worth what he's getting paid.

Then theres Dak.I told you guys in preseason the kid was good and got a bunch of crap for it,and I'm sure the same people are going to give me crap for it now{it's only been 2 games!}
Kirk looked like the inexperienced rookie while Dak outplayed him in every facet of the game, including poise under pressure.
Unfortunately Dallas has found their future franchise qb and Romo replacement while we will still be searching for ours
Agree about kirk disagree with dak. He is a game manager and that's it, what has he done that shows "franchise" qb? He isn't accurate on the long ball at all and his fade and back shoulder passes are just as bad as kirks. To me he's another Jason Campbell type QB. He just has a way better offense than JC ever had. Wait and see in a few years. He's a good player but nothing more. Romo will have his job back for a reason. As for KC? Man idk what to think after that int, I really believed he was done with that bs and it's showing that he's just too inconsistent. One week he's good the next he's blah.. Today he played ok until that throw. The skins aren't done but if we lose next week u might as well pack it in.

Well he outplayed our franchise qb today and it wasnt even close. But yes you do have a point,it's only been 2 games.
I trust my eyes on what i've seen of Dak,sometimes you can just tell when someone has that "it" and I see it in Dak.I dont remember him throwing any long passes or fades in this game but this is only his 2nd game,he's only going to get better.Just like Kirk and Grudens comment,"he's a work in progress"
Dak Prescott 22/30 292 9.7 0 0 4-14 87.7 103.8

Only time will tell and I swear to Jesus I hope I'm wrong as hell about Kirk and Dak but I dont think I will be

No NFL team since the 2003 Philadelphia Eagles has started 0-2 with both losses at home and made the playoffs. Not sure how many actual teams this includes but that's not a good stat.

Ok here i go...
Smh

From what i saw

... our.o line is.massively average the turds dont have a great D Line... play calling is so up and down jay and sean could open a.fucking elevator company..

Joe barry needs to.be fired who the fuck cares about the players catching up to.a new.scheme at this point... here... do this when this is called... not that hard...

Matt jones is TRYING guys... from what i saw... hes trying man... kirk is getting nervous. But im not writing him off yet at all.. ye of little faith just wait (i hope) cuz its not all on kirk... ever qb misses throws... some are just more noticeable than others...

Breeland and Co. Have no choice but to keep it in front of them when the opposing qb gets all day to throw (thanks coach barry) our d line sucks. And coming out in the 4-3 look is reallt pissing me the fuck off....

Coaches... wake the fuck up... jesus christ... fire barryimmediately PLEASE.

Other than that... NFL refs are absolute fucking hot stinky fucking garbage. Period.

5 things we need to win more games (4 are controllable this year):

1. Run the ball more (Gruden/McVay it's not that hard)
2. Call more blitzes/aggressive defensive plays (Barry its not that hard)
3. Score touchdowns in the red zone
4. Hit receivers on deep passes especially if they're wide open
5. Get a new C and more talent in the front 7 on defense (Possibly new QB)
We had a lot of positives this week to go along with all the repeated negative ones. Losing our NT on the opening play didn't exactly set our D up for a win. I liked that they finally allowed Josh to move around. I'm so happy to see us spend money, and get something in return (fingers crossed). We have a lot of work to do, and hopefully Kirk can shake off the cobwebs and get this thing firing. There is no way we can keep this offensive talent together for too long.

P.S. Was I the only one secretly happy that AlfMo scored? I'm still pissed that we let him go.
Um, if you call yourself a Redskins fan, then YES, you were likely the only one.

Re: Skins-Cowboys Post Game Thread

A game we should have had for sure. Probably three touchdowns that should have been - weren't - plus at least three points we gave up with that end zone INT.

Poor play by KC overall, but for me most of the 'blame' if we have to assign it, goes to the play calling. I haven't looked to see what Jones' average was per carry, but he should have been fed the ball about 15 more times than he was. If there ever was a day to run the ball, today was the day. 1st and goal at the 5 or 6, whatever it was, he should have been given the ball four times if need be...

It only gets harder as we move forward. It's hard to imagine them getting things going on the road after the two clunkers they put on the board at home...but I'm the eternal optimist when it comes to this team, so I can't throw in the towel after week 2.

As far as the defense, I was fairly pleased. They started out slow and gave up a few plays, but made plays when they needed to. This loss was not on the defense at all. Norman is a beast, as much as I want to believe Breeland will turn it around, they will have to look at moving Norman around the field as they did in the second half. Cravens has to be more involved too.

Made plays when they needed to?! With the game on the line they let the Cowboys drive 80 yds down the field for the win. Talk about coming up small when they were needed. This team isnt going anywhere with a D that made a rookie QB and RB look like All Pros.

It is now only a matter of time before Cousins is sandbagged. They don't want to play with this guy. Once the locker room has turned the season is already over. Willing to bet Cousins and Gruden are not here next year....

Idk how accurate that report is.. I haven't seen a player quote yet. Kirk is what he is and the team knew this so idk what they would expect. I still believe he'll have a solid season and he's on pace to have the most yards actually so let's see what we can do.. The schedule looked rough but now as u can see, other teams don't look as great as they were predicted. That game was over yesterday if kirk doesn't throw that int but also the refs on that last drive were fucking horrible and it seemed like they were on the Dallas side obviously.. They gave them 2 15 yard penalties one on 3rd and long!! Fuckin joke. No excuses but cmon

Tough loss. Always easy to point out QB mistakes the day after; and Cousins certainly had a lot of mistakes. That being said, we have a QB who is consistently moving the ball up and down the field. Every time the offense takes the field, I'm fairly confident the Redskins will score. That's the difference between Kirk and the long list of QBs we've had in the past. Hopefully he'll settle down and start making the plays we saw him making last year. A win next week and we're right back in the division discussion.

I agree, KC made a lot of mistakes and IMO plays too "tight" but they scored enough points to win yesterday. 23 points would have won in ten of yesterday's games but the D cant stop anything and that's going to make "easy" games difficult and "hard" games impossible.

Yup, im not giving the D a pass, but we know how limited we are with personnel especially in the front 7. But this game was clearly lost on the offensive side of the ball. Settling for fieldgoals in the red zone, turnover in the end zone, and 3 medium-deep range balls missed for scores killed the team. The game plan, play call, and simple in-game strategy offensively has been poor.

For example, Matt Jones TD run drive in the first half was great...he got in a rhythm with the oline and scored. The defense then caused a 3 and out and the very next drive started with Chris Thompson in the back field for all 3 plays which resulted in a 3 and out. Now please fucking tell me why would take Matt Jones out of that sequence? Right after he had gotten going for the first time all year? fuck sean mcvy and gruden

The Jones thing is puzzling. Do these stupid ass coaches know the hell is going on during the game? Jones should have been right back on the field and they should have went right back to him. As bad as Joe Barry is, (he is nothing but horse feces when it comes to running a defense) I don't understand the rotation there. It made no sense what so ever. If they want to pass the ball so much then give him a screen. If I were Snyder I'd be all up in Gruden's grill this morning.

When your best chance to win is to put it all on the arm of a QB that shows nerves and in the past has shown a lack of mental fortitude to bounce back after interceptions, then that's an indictment of your coaching staff.

I'm trying to figure out which area our staff has helped our team play above their talent level and I'm struggling to think of one.

Defense, don't get me started. But even offense. McVay has had decent playcalling games in the past, but it's pretty easy to call plays when you have Reed, Jackson, Garcon, Crowder, and good tackles. The constant fade calls yesterday show a lack of creativity. And the running game was working OK yesterday. Why we ended up so unbalanced is unacceptable.

In what way is this staff making us better?

the qb who once took a knee instead of spiking it.

and the oc who called 3 pass plays inside the 10 after jones had already scored a rushing td from 14 yards out.

ohhh didn't know that. well we will need him going forward. my guess is Golsen gonna miss some time.

Couple positives from individual performances:

Doctson with the big play

Cravens coming in and making an impact

I though Trent Murphy was big in the second half...man, wouldn't be great if he put it together. He flew around tryon Smith on the one play.

Matt Jones, I thought he looked great yesterday.

Our Oline played well....sans Kory on the false starts.

Those two fades were just despicable play calls. If you want to do it once, fine. But fucking twice? You have to give Jones at least one carry there. Call a shovel pass or a draw, but give him the damn ball once.

I guess. But at this point how can you project that this staff will ever outfox a playoff team?

Just ask yourself: the Redskins are in the playoffs, they're playing Green Bay or Minnesota or Carolina or Arizona. Do you think Jay Gruden and his staff have it in them to out-gameplan and outcoach any of these staffs:

- Bruce Arians and the Cardinals
- Mike McCarthy and the Pack
- Ron Rivera and the Panthers
- Mike Zimmer and the Vikes

I can't see it happening. They're too reactionary, never ahead of the other team.

I feel like the team simply doesn't have the coaching structure nor any kind of coaching IQ, a consistent QB or defensive push to be a competitive team. Ok, I'll admit "when they needed to" was probably a stretch. My point is this loss wasn't on the D. That drive is to potentially tie the game if KC hits Doctson in stride (and the game probably isn't close if he hits Crowder and DJax earlier on). The defense made plays, forced fumbles, knocked the ball out of the receivers hands, got 'some' pressure/sacks...this defense isn't going to stop anyone all the time, but it was good enough to win on Sunday if the offense had made more plays.

Sure they forced a few fumbles and incomplete passess but they gave up 27 points. 7 of which came on an 80 yard game winning drive by the Cowboys.

Could the O have played better and scored more points, absolutely. They aren't blameless in this loss but they did score 23 points which was enough to win in 10 of yesterday's games. The offense was good enough, the D was not.

I strongly disagree on this point. We know our defense has problems and our offense has a lot of weapons. We needed to win this game on offense but our QB, who is a big part of the offense, did not play well. Kirk was the key to winning the game and he blew it.

In the micro view of yesterday's game, the blame lays primarily at the feet of Cousins simply because he missed three easy throws for TDs. But I get what you're saying from the long view standpoint.

Cousins and the offense have to be completely on point for this team to win. It was there for him to win the game yesterday, that's why I primarily blame Cousins. But the defense continues to be the unit that's completely non-contributory. There's not enough pass rush, they're not stout enough at the point of attack, the defensive game planning is crap, the inability to adjust is killing us, and aside from Norman there is nobody making exceptional plays consistently enough. The talent level is no better than average overall, and the coaching staff isn't elevating their talent with scheme and planning.

It's a completely dead-weight unit. The way it looks to me, the games we win the rest of the way will have been in spite of our defense, never because of it.
I strongly disagree on this point. We know our defense has problems and our offense has a lot of weapons. We needed to win this game on offense but our QB, who is a big part of the offense, did not play well. Kirk was the key to winning the game and he blew it.
KC did blow it, if they do anything besides a turnover the Skins win.

So an elite team like Pgh puts up 38 on the Skins D and a not so elite team like Dallas puts up 27 on the Skins D. That means depending on who they are playing the Skins have to score 30+ to have a shot at winning. Good luck with that.

Well, yeah. That's the depressing situation for Skins fans right now.
I am sorry, but you are better than this BS post. Cousins is the starter all year. Breeland is not total garbage and you are not cutting him. Gruden is not getting canned this year. We would have to go 2 - 14 before he gets canned.

I do not know why i punish myself by coming on here after a loss.
I understand you, Omaha.

Unfortunately, I punish myself by coming to the boards after a loss. Then, I avoid the boards for several days, so I won't have to witness foolish and over-the-top posts.

There is another Redskins fan board where I venture (basically, I only go to this one and the one I mentioned), and I had to avoid it all last week due to handful of posters. It's typically a good board with many, intelligent Redskins fans. But, it doesn't take many to bring down a board.

Two of the posters on that particular board have been typing verbose and repetitive rhetoric, and continues to speak in absolutes. It's very annoying, and it seems they are almost more concerned about looking right, per their predicted Redskins failures, than the Redskins turning things around this season.

This could very, well end up being a crappy season, but I'm gonna withhold judgement for another week or two.
