Re: Skins at Giants pregame
I would just point out that The Giants barely beat Dallas in a rookie QB's first game ever -- a team that we could (and should) have beaten. They scored only 20 points and Eli threw for about 165 yards less than Cousins in our matchup against the same team.
The Giants also beat a very weak Saints team -- scoring 1 TD; total of 64 yards rushing against a pathetic defense. Let's not proclaim ourselves doomed against this team. This is a winnable game.
Giants aren't that good, 3-0 team? I doubt it. We'll beat them and start a small run. I think after 8 games we'll be 4-4 |
Hate to put it all on Cousins, but when you are the QB and make 20 mil a year it is on you.
Only way we win is if KC gets his shit together. If not we will lose again. You cant have an inaccurate QB with an awesome WR core, but through two weeks thats what we have.
Doesn't matter how much money any ONE dude makes, the game will never hinge on ONE dude. Kirk certainly has to have a good game, and he can't turn the ball over, but it is going to take much more than that to win this game. Eli gets the ball out too fast to think we're going to get much pressure on him, so coverage has to be tight and they have to keep everything in front of them - let them have the short stuff, make them to drive the length of the field, and if they do - hold them to field goals. If they can do that, I think the offense can score enough to win. |

Ok, tell that to the 60+ other players that - what - had nothing to do with the results of that season? Along with the coaching staff that had no hand in it? I would bet that they wouldn't make the same argument. It's not all on Kirk. The coaching staff needs to formulate a good game plan, then the entire team needs to step up and execute it near flawlessly on the field. |
Tell that to KC. Sorry if the fan base is a bit jaded. When you can't get consistent QB play year in and year out, and then you pay a guy 20 mil who is suppose to do that and he misses 5 TD passes which would have won at least one game, fans are going to be pissed and tired of the same old bullshit we have seen for 20 plus years.
We need to get off the money KC is making. He earned that by his play last year. The deep shots are going to be hit or miss. It's the pick in the end zone that's inexcusable. Everyone should probably lower their expectations for him anyway. He's a middle of the road qb, not a qb that can carry a team. |
Re: Skins at Giants pregame
Watching week 2 saints @ giants game.
I truly think we can beat those G-men. Their offense wasn't looking really good, not establishing any run game, pass protect kinda suck*d in the first half, no TD on offense... nothing scary there. Their D looking pretty good, but it was against a not so good offense... Main worry is will our O-line handle their front 4, both in passing and running downs ? Also KC will be dealing with a pretty good secondary... Let's go get this W !!! |

Re: Skins at Giants pregame
what really sucks about the Skins right now is we have yet to be bitten by the injury bug sans JR. If guys start getting hurt oh man this team will be back to its dumpster fire days.

Jeesh! Take your medicine and calm down, for goodness sakes. There are 14 games left to play. |

Redskins 20 |

Run the ball and Cousins needs to play better. I think it could be an ugly game, Skins 26 Gmen 20
Defense played much better last week than the 1st week against Pittsburgh, can that effort get stronger? I hope so |

giants and eagles both 2-0, we play each team 2 times; no sweat.

^^ Los, I think the large majority of fans would have tagged him like we did. No other viable option. I think I read the skins offered Kirk somewhere in the 16m per range which i think was fair market value. glad we didnt over pay. I like what we did with Kirk.
Plus, he will play better. |

Im not sure Scot was really high on any of the big ticket FAs but who knows. Also, would we want to commit to multiple year, big money deals for who was out there? Would that have precluded us from having flexibility to sign Norman so late in FA? I dont know but I do know that I like Kirk and finding a decent to good QB is harder than it seems. Especially one that seems to fit what the coaching staff is looking for. if Kirk ends up being an alex smith, thats not too shabby. |

Kirk is like a much better Todd Collins (isnt that an old mans drink?). A hell of a west coast system QB. I find it really hard to believe we have 18 mil in free cap space right now. Wow, just checked, we have 15.4m. I thought we would be at 1-2 mil. The good thing is that any unused cap space can roll over to next year. Onset of a 2-1/2 day puke virus during the end of that Cowboy game. Which than ran through the rest of my house. Great few days.
Dont ever remember being that pissed off during a game, or ready to burn it all down on the gameday thread. Looking back I think it had a lot to do with the puke bug. Lol. Anyway I don't think it is that crazy to say if we lose the season is all but over. If we win and build a little confidence than there are quite a few winnable games in the weeks that follow.
I cannot believe that folks are talking about the season being over -- and it's still September! Don't get me wrong, starting 0-3 and 0-2 within the division would be a real disaster. But has it really come to this already? I surely hope not.
There have been 3 teams in the history of the league to make the playoffs with an 0-3 start with the expanded format. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/24/sports/football/from-0-3-to-a-berth-in-the-playoffs-here-are-3-teams-that-have-done-it.html?_r=0 I think it is much worse here because two of the loses would be in the division. |
