Re: Skins @ Lions pregame thread
Reed on Tuesday went for another checkup with an independent doctor and received permission to begin practicing in a limited capacity. The Redskins will not know until later this week about Reed’s availability for Sunday’s game at Detroit.
Meanwhile, rookie inside linebacker Su’a Cravens, who missed Sunday’s game with a concussion of his own, also practiced on Wednesday. But Cravens didn’t wear a noncontact jersey. He practiced in a limited role last week, but didn’t receive clearance to play. Tight end Derek Carrier has spent all of the season on the physically-unable-to-perform list, but now is allowed to begin practicing in hopes of being activated to the 53-man roster. However, on Wednesday, Carrier worked on a side field, running routes and catching passes from a member of the Redskins’ training staff, as he has for many days in recent weeks. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/football-insider/wp/2016/10/19/jordan-reed-practicing-in-yellow-non-contact-jersey/ News is better than I expected for the first day of practice. Would love to see Cravens this week. I didnt even know we retained Carrier this year. Why him over Paulson?
We gave up a 5th rounder for Carrier. He's actually a very talented athlete. Was looking good last year before his injury. Will be a good force for special teams and as a flex. |

Wow yeah I remember that play too. I remember going into that game it was being said that this one of the biggest Skins games in a while. Irving Fryar played in that game and caught a TD pass from Jeff George. |

Well he was mostly reacting to the "we own the east" comments by some of the players after the game the other day, on their way to the lockerroom. He was doing what he gets paid to: rant. |

A lot of us do this for free on game day. I demand paychecks! :D |
Re: Skins @ Lions pregame thread
Mitchell punked Stephen A pretty good yesterday on the radio. That being said, he is just an attention troll, and everytime he gets in arguements with people it helps him. It's what he wants, if everyone just ignored him he'd be in deep shit. Trolling works, a ton of people fall for it.

I think Carrier is slightly above JAG status and he helped us tremendously last year when we had no one but him but I didnt think we kept 4 TE this year - Reed, Davis, Paul. I imagine we will have to make a roster move to add him to the 53 ... hopefully it wont be Reed to IR. |
I trust Bree to have a good game but Stafford is a good QB and they do have decent receivers. Norman was only targeted once last week so I imagine Bree will be tested but hopefully we can roll some help towards his side. Thats the luxury of having a Norman, we can dictate to the opponents offense to a degree.
5 in a row - the year ST unfortunately passed away and Todd Collins carried us into the playoffs is my best guess. ---------------- Lions seem to be about as banged up as we are. Redskins -- 34
Lions -- 16 We force a couple of turnovers but don't take advantage, leaving us all frustrated that we didn't run up more of a score. Fights ensue on the Warpath about whether we've become a bunch of ingrates given the 5-game win streak. Comparisons to "whining like Trump" are made. Tempers flare. Grammar goes by the wayside. Matty has to keep the peace and steer the conversation to the "Beating the Bengals In Britain" Thread. |

I don't even try to predict games anymore. I go into every game thinking we can win, but the other team definitely can too.

Well, this is the NFL so you are absolutely right... But I really like our chances on this one... Wouldn't call a code red trap game by any stretch, (lol), but I'd say, looking at our schedule, this would be a good thing to win this one, and a pretty bad one to lose it, with the Bengals and Vikings coming up. |
Re: Skins @ Lions pregame thread
We're going to help the Lions.
We're going help them get closer to the first pick in the draft. |

Outside of NE, any team is week to week. We could easily win this game Sunday just as easily as losing it. The NFL is so full of parody, if hoyer played all game last night, bears may have won. |
Re: Skins @ Lions pregame thread
im freakin excited as shit for this game...5-2 to start the year would be effing amazing for a start of a season. that's kinda driver seat type cushion...
I hate to say it, but the way we have been playing...even though Detroit has been playing better....I think this is a game, if we are "for real", should win. Detroit gotta lotta holes...no running game, limited on defense, Detroit, etc... Lets gets this win! |

Lions are bad on defense and they have no run game at all, we should win but again it's the NFL.
Well the Lions are favored by 1 point.
1. The home team gets 3 points to start with. Plus, this is just bookmakers assuring that they win. 2. Who gives a rat's rear end about the spread, anyway. It's another example of the general public of the USA not believing in the Skins. That's nothing new. Half of the people in the country didn't think we were any good when we were winning Super Bowls under Joe Gibbs. 3. From what I read, the Lions are supposed to beat us with their passing game. Well, that just plays into our strength as a defense. I hope they try to throw the ball all over the place because they will lose if they do. 4. Our team is getting better in all phases on a week-to-week basis but the general public has a tendency to favor a team with a "star" QB over a well-balanced team. Nevertheless, well-balanced teams win. Also, Stafford is not the star he is thought to be by many NFL fans. 4. Our team is ascending because they are focused on getting better and they play hard every week. We may get beat sometimes, but we won't get outworked and we won't quit. Detroit just isn't the kind of team that will take us down. 5. This is the week we win handily on the road and wake up the non-believers. We''ll double their score: Skins 34, Detroit 17. |

Re: Skins @ Lions pregame thread
I wonder how depressive people will be before our remaining games if they don't believe we can beat the 2016 Lions... (Don't get me wrong, I never said we can not lose this game, but not believing we have the weapons to easily beat them seems like a "let's avoid any risk of being disappointed" kind of mindset)
|
Re: Skins @ Lions pregame thread
It will be a close game that comes down to the wire. I think the redskins can win, but Cousins CAN NOT have any interceptions. NONE. No throwing across his body while running the wrong way or any of the other crap he's done this year.
The lions are going to gash our defense for some big plays and lots of yards, but they are just as bad and if Cousins can get his shit together we should beat them. |
