Breaking: Trent Williams Suspended 4 Games
This is his second suspension. He was suspended as a rookie for violating the substance abuse policy in 2010.....
We shouldn't worry though. Ty Nsehke is more than capable.
Dude. He is the best tackle in the league. Ty whatever is not him. Hopefully we dont lose our qb during these four games too. Uggh. Edit: but your optimism is awesome (as it was on Sunday. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]) and I hope Ty is just good enough to help eke out a few wins. |
Re: Breaking: Trent Williams Suspended 4 Games
TW is just too damn good to cut, any serious talk about it just silly.
|
Re: Breaking: Trent Williams Suspended 4 Games
I'm not even mad, I just don't how you can be so dumb. I'd be so embarrassed if I was him.
It makes you look like a selfish asshole and a retard. You just lost almost 2 million to get high. Craziness how players just don't learn. I hope he at least doesn't make any excuses and owns his stupidity. |

I suppose it could be worse:

FWIW Trent Williams loses about $1.6 million in salary this year. It also means his contract is no longer guaranteed.

wow, I wasn't aware of that...I find his actions even more stupid now that I know that. so he basically risked his entire future for some weed...I seriously question his priorities. the dude must be an addict |

He had a weed problem here to.. It just got swept under the rug. If we go 3-1 in the next 4 (which I believe we can) all will be forgotten. TY isn't Trent but he's pretty good. He didn't give up a sack against JPP in a half of football so that's a good sign. |

Yeah him n reed. Thought that was over n done though. I hope you are right. Remember TW was still on the line in that game though. |

Trent completely let his coaches and teammates down. He has no business being a team captain after this second violation of the substance abuse policy.

also we have the best OL Coach in football. I think it'll be ok, may give up a few more sacks but i doubt the team just caves in |

Excellent point! He does not deserve to be a Captain on this team. |

Re: Breaking: Trent Williams Suspended 4 Games
Are you for real?
What makes me dumb saying that we don't need to keep a guy who is a repeat substance abuse violator? You're going to say "Because he's such a great player, we can't replace him, blah blah blah". And I will agree with you on the great player part. What is so hard about obeying NFL policies? Hundreds of other players are "great players" without being suspended multiple times for the same violation.. Saying that it's okay to give him a pass because he's great is sending the wrong message, IMO. It is evident to me that looking at some posters here, they would sacrifice morals and decency to get a couple of more wins. But there are teams in the NFL that do not operate like that. Le Garette Blount basically walked out of a game in 2013 or 14 and the Steelers cut him. He was their starting running back. They did not follow your lead and say "Well, he's a great player, we knew he had to blow off some steam", or some BS like that. I guess in the end, the "moral clauses" that some of these teams have resonate with me because I try and go about doing things the right way, and being a good citizen and all of that stuff, obeying the law, blah blah blah. Insert comments about me now about how i'm off my medicine or other types of personal and racial crap like some of the other stuff i've had to deal with here. I don't want to leave the site but if thats what you guys want, so be it.
Yes that's what we want. |
Breaking: Trent Williams Suspended 4 Games
And what would be bad about a message like that going out to a guy who is now a repeat offender for the league's substance abuse policy? I realize he's a great player but honestly sometimes its more important about doing the right thing and sending the right message, mainly something like "The Washington Redskins do not condone using illegal drugs of any kind, and while we appreciate Trent's contributions to the team, this type of behavior cannot be tolerated or accepted. We wish Trent well in future endeavors and hope that he gets the help that he needs".
Or do we do the old Snyder / Vinny thing and say, "well, he's our best player, so we have to let him do whatever he wants and make sure he has a roster spot here while paying him handsomely". I realize i am prone to over-reaction like suggesting we cut Hopkins, but IMO this is ridiculous. We have a moral responsibility as a team, and I thought part of Scott M's philosophy was to have "character guys". A repeat offender on the substance policy is not a "character guy". He's hurt the team with his retarded ass actions. We HAVE to just stop accepting shit like this and mentally saying "oh, we're the redskins, this is just the way it is".
I think that you have to understand that talent is worth something. The less you have to offer a team the less reason there is to keep you around. Its a business. I dont think it is a case of great players live above the law, they get caught and punished like anyone else, as we see here with TW. If you are some third string rb though why hold a roster spot or deal with it? What is in it for the team to keep you? But when you are an all pro type than it is a smart business decision to keep you. He is losing almost 2 mill and a lot of respect. Probably some commercials, etc. Also probably his "C". Also this is not a Redskin thing. It is any team. It is not saying that shit is ok. It is saying you lose 2 mill, the respect of a lot of people, and you let your teammates down. Edit : Also Schneed wants everybody to leave the site, and thinks we are all dumb. It isn't personal. He is just feeding his inner demons. Don't leave man. Edit two : big ben raped girls. Dont even think it is a question. Steelers morally superior for keeping him? I mean how morally wrong is smoking a joint? Hope not that bad or i am definitely going to hell. You want to call him greedy or stupid go for it. Cost him 2 million fuckin dollars. If he raped someone or mugged someone - something to that effect - than hell yeah. Don't give a crap about your talent level. Can we calm down with he is a thug because he got high though? People break rules, get suspended, fined, etc all the time. I wouldn't consider TW a terrible person or anything. You are saying his actions hurt the team. Fair enough. Have his actions on the field helped the team more than his two incidents have hurt them. Yes and it aint even close. |

Re: Breaking: Trent Williams Suspended 4 Games
SS84 - this.is a great site and it takes all types to make work. That includes an ass like Schneed, a KC crazy like punch and even a jerk like me. But what i would like to think is that we all try to use common sense and some level of realistic discussion. You have shared some of your struggles, but there are other sites that thrive on hyper level comments and reactions. What I think Schneed in his own unique way was saying is simply "think about what might be reasonable reaction and discuss from there, if that does not appeal to your sense of this board then perhaps another board might fit your senses." But like I said this is a good board and everybody has the chance to put their 2cents in.
Really disappointed in Trent on this one. I understand with the constant pain NFL players go through weed is a viable pain treatment option but since it's not legal there is no excuse. I also feel that weed is a better alternative then potentially getting addicted to pain pills but until that changes you have to be smart.
Re: Breaking: Trent Williams Suspended 4 Games
Ugh let the overreacting begin. Hey I know, let's send a message and just cut him.
He's way too good of a player to just cut. But really this is bullshit. He's one of if not our best player and one that's so difficult to replace. He knows that and he can't take his effing piss test? Um yeah I'd be listening to offers cause one more slip up and it might be an entire season. Inexcusable. Trent's a great player but I'd put his ass out there and see what we could get in return. He no longer can be counted on... |
Re: Breaking: Trent Williams Suspended 4 Games
What if Trent played for New England? What do you think Hoody would do?
|
Re: Breaking: Trent Williams Suspended 4 Games
I have two questions:
1) When a player misses a test, why isn't the NFL forcing him to take another one? I'm just surprised with how easy it seems "-hell I'm full of illegal substances I just won't go -Oh daaamn he didn't come, what are we gonna do?! There is absolutely no way we could say something like "you either take this test tomorrow morning or are suspended for the rest of the season"..." 2) Everyone seems to be 100% sure it was pot... how do we know that for sure? (not a rhetorical question, real one) |
Re: Breaking: Trent Williams Suspended 4 Games
Gotta be smarter, but he is a beast and he plays hurt for us all the time. He has a good attitude and I'm sure he understands how much he messed up.
What if Trent played for New England? What do you think Hoody would do?
I think with the the way Hoody runs his ship TW wouldn't get in this mess in the first place. Hopefully in the future the Skins draft guys with TW's talent but without his problems. |
Re: Breaking: Trent Williams Suspended 4 Games
Let's not pretend that this isn't a big blow to the team. Franchise LT's don't grow on trees. We were in a position to come out of the bye relatively healthy and perhaps make a run but now this is going to be harder to do.
Kirk is going to get hit and sacked more with Trent out. This will lead to more turnovers. Also, the running game will suffer. Our offense may find itself in more long-yardage situations. I'm not even going to say what I'm worried about most. Perish the thought. Hopefully, Gruden and McVay can come up with some creative ideas on offense that will help to compensate for Trent's absence. Perhaps some misdirection, screens, etc. to slow the rush. I dunno. I hope I'm wrong. |

Sent from my S6 Edge
Pretty much. I don't like poor thinking and so I react strongly to it. The surest sign of poor thinking is letting an emotional reaction color your thoughts about appropriate next steps. To suggest that Trent should be released means you are guilty of at least one of the following: 1) thinking that because lightning struck here, it absolutely will strike again in the future. Just because Trent violated the rules here doesn't mean he will do it again. Especially in light of the Jones report that it wasn't a failed test, it was a missed one. 2) You've gotten so angered by the situation that you've forgotten how important a player he is 3) You think Nsekhe can get us through without a problem. This indicates you don't understand the Xs and Os of our offense very well. 4) You are unaware how important the LT is to a football team 5) You think you can find a replacement in free agency or anywhere outside of the top 5 in the draft Am I an ass? Sure. Think of me as a critical thinking vigilante. If you bring weak shit expect to be called to the carpet. This site is better than that, if you want to just spout emotional bullshit take it to another site, because you don't fit in here with us knowledgable fans. |
Re: Breaking: Trent Williams Suspended 4 Games
PS it's ok to be furious at Trent. I'm livid myself. I hope they strip the captain's C. But if McCloughan released him every GM in the league would laugh their asses off right after they submitted a waiver claim.

Re: Breaking: Trent Williams Suspended 4 Games
Ok, I know this goes to the conspiratorial tinfoil hat mode, that avoids the rational discussion I just said we all want BUT ...
How is it that within 2 weeks of Josh Brown's being kicked for Domestic Abuse, Dallas and Washington suddenly face a possible major player distraction (Elliot's abuse case "not being closed in NFL eyes", and TW missing a drug test). I don't trust Mara, haven't since the salary cap theft, and somehow, these 2 things just don't seem random. But they probably are, and I am probably just listening to the wrong cosmic waves... |

But he's been silent. He knows he broke the rule. Remember, for the NFL to announce the 4 game suspension that means the player's appeal has already been heard. |
