Most of them saying if anything, he IS a businessman and traders like that.

Trust me, I'm definitely someone who takes stuff the media says with a grain of salt, but I did see quite a bit on it today.
What was false about anything I said?
I think this is where the leftists are going to struggle. Focusing on his personality and the perception of him.

Perception is reality and for many their perception says everything you stated it correct while for an equal amount their perception says you're wrong. Either way though the cold reality is...it didn't matter. How someone campaigns and secures support to become president seems to shift wildly from election to election. This time around many seemed to make the internal argument of "We're not electing the nice person, we're electing the more capable person."

This election wasn't about whether trump is a meanie or a nice dude. It was about years of neglect for the lower middle class in the middle of this country on the part of DC politicians. The one person charismatic enough and outsider enough came along and said "drain the swamp" and every factory worker sitting on their couch looking for a new job said "Finally!" It didn't matter that he's an asshole. They voted in spite of that. The same message from someone equally as media savvy with a better reputation and a nicer demeanor would have made this a blowout across the board.

Right message
Right time
Sorta right guy

Nope, just a look at the numbers show who propped him up. Young, old, college educated and non-college grad white people were solidly in favor of him. Hence my statement. More specifically, white males were heavily in his favor. Truthfully,

Trump didn't win as much as Hillary lost.

2012 results:
Popular vote Obama:65,915,795 Romney: 60,933,504
2016 results:
Popular vote Clinton: 59,680,035* Trump: 59,479,278*

* count not complete

People who are complaining that the Democratic candidate lost, ought to look at the Democratic party and the tactics they used to handpick a disastrous candidate.

I'm in the same boat TMC. If he can prove me wrong, I will be fine with that. But I'm not holding my breath. Especially if he fills his cabinet with CEO's of major corporations. My vote for him was simply because I am tired of career politicians getting into the White House and keeping with the status quo - which is exactly what Hillary Clinton would have done. I think people wanted a shake up in the White house, and Trump was about the only way it was going to get shook. Donald Trump is not my favorite individual, but people are greatly underestimating how powerful and smart he is. He might be exactly what this country needs. I voted for him, I'm going to support him. I don't give a damn who likes it or not. If I can't stand the SOB toward the end of his four years, I'll vote for someone else. But anybody who wants to call me racist, bigoted, and a moron for casting my vote for him is, quite frankly, and idiot.

My hope is that trump will bring good people regardless of political affilliation to look at and recommend real solutions. Calling his supporters names is dismissive of the fact that this is 1/2 of the people who cared enough about the country's future to go out and vote.
The whiny of the soft millennials today is absolutely pathetic.
Yeah, one of my co-workers, out of college a couple years I think, big Bernie supporter, came in round an hour late today. Her face was so red and puffy, it was obvious she had spent some of that morning crying.

Just to be clear, I hate the racist and the crook, I voted for Johnson, but still debated her when she was flat out wrong, like claiming college could be free for everyone, or that military guns have never been used by civilians before now (points to tommy guns). She's otherwise friendly, but argues everything political with utmost conviction like it's life or death, and when faced with contrary facts usually shrugs and says "whatever" and stick to her beliefs.

And I don't recall the majority of the TV news media so blatantly campaigning for one candidate before. The slanted news coverage, the landslide Hillary polls, giving Hillary debate questions in advance, vetting interview articles by her campaign before publishing, I dreaded the next four years no matter who won. It's like Aliens vs Predator, whoever wins, we lose. (I wanted Kasich to win, btw, would have settled for Cruz.)

But seeing these "safe space" millennials freak out, now that they finally lost a major election, is pretty entertaining.

See, this is one reason Trump won. Because of punchitin's attitude. Constantly strawmanning and demonizing people as Obama put it with his: "cling to guns or religion" quote. Calling Trump deplorable was accurate. The constant stream of propaganda that anyone not liking the democrats was deplorable? When Hillary said that about Trump supporters, I think she hurt herself more than Mondale did with his "yes I will raise taxes" quote way back in 1984. I think enough people were fed up with punchitins attitude to fire back by voting Trump. It didn't push me that far, but I feel that anger.

And about anger, funny how a black turnout for Obama is represented as hope, and a white turnout for Trump is represented as anger. There was a lot of pent up anger among blacks of their past and present mistreatment that worked in Obama's favor too.

Fifth time it's happened according to one website I looked at. I have mixed feelings about that. I agree with not changing the rules retroactively because the other sides candidate won. But really, I would go either way if they decide to go popular vote next election or not.

OT1H, candidates would stick more to issues in big states in popular vote contests, not totally but to some degree. And we are a group of states, not just a homogeneous country, and the electoral college still gives weight to big states, it's not like the senate 2 reps each state.

OTOH, the POTUS really is our one true national election. Everyone's vote should count equally, just because some are banded together in huge municipalities shouldn't be a disqualifier.

So I really would be fine either way.
