Re: Around the NFL (Preseason edition)
Saw that Tampa Bay cut their kicker who they drafted in the 2nd round of the 16 draft. What kind of idiot GM would draft a kicker in the 2nd round?

Kap also had the incident with his socks, basically a big F U to law enforcement. He has no one to blame but himself.
I find it hard to believe that CK wouldn't be on a team right now if it weren't for the whole not standing for the anthem thing. He's definitely being blackballed IMO.
Blackballed, as in all 32 teams got together and colluded not to sign him? I don't think so, but if that's the case, only the Redskins and Cowboys will get in trouble for it. I think 32 teams decided individually that he isn't good enough to be worth the media headache and flak from all the fans that don't want a QB who shits on their flag on the team. If he was better, he would be on a team. But he put himself in this position. I have no pity. |

Do not forget the Fidel Castro shirt. That is why Miami did not sign him. They would offend 1/2 their fan base. |

I forgot about that one. Guy is an idiot. |
Re: Around the NFL (Preseason edition)
He's good enough to be on a roster, look at all the QB depth charts and tell me he's not good enough to be a #2 on several teams.

That's all well and good, but the majority of people welcomed a sadistic dog murderer back into the league after a prison sentence. My point is, it's plainly obvious Kaep is being blackballed because owners know conservative white America (aka a decent proportion of every team's fanbase) doesn't like him. Is he a starter? Highly debatable. Is he better than half the backups in this league? Yes. This is the one rare instance where the talent isn't worth the headache. If he was a starter he'd be signed already. |

Guy cost the powers that be lots of money. Eisner has to be pissed, but ESPN brought it on themselves. Cap totally misplayed his hand. |

Don't try to bring right vs left in it. Please tell me why Seattle owner Paul Allen and the Seahawks in a dreary liberal oasis section of the country passed on him? Or the fact liberal San Fran a city where conservative speakers are routinely barred from speaking let him go ? |

That was after the Ravens were considering offering him a contract. The guy just keeps inventing reasons for teams to want to steer clear of him and his stupid crap. Also the guy was a flash in the pan one hit wonder from 5 years ago, he has been exposed as fool's gold. |

I think part of the explanation is most people's opinion of Pit Bulls, I think a lot of people wish the breed was exterminated, it wasn't like Vick was drowning Labrador puppies. Also whether the left agrees with it or not the United States flag is viewed as a sacred symbol by many. |
Re: Around the NFL (Preseason edition)
Let's not try to explain away the dog fighting/killing, it was inexcusable.
|
Re: Around the NFL (Preseason edition)
ugh...Kap, Vick. yucky topic. Just headache guys.
Changing it up...how about Scot MccCloughan joined twitter last week...and he's great. https://twitter.com/MccloughanScot Read through, good question/answers from him. Like a couple responses: @MccloughanScot if you had the 1st pick in the draft, and could sign Kirk Cousins or draft a qb. What would you do? Scot Mccloughan : I'd take a pass rusher Big fan Scot do you think the 2018 quarterback draft is similar to the 1983 QB draft/Who are the top QB's this year? Scot Mccloughan Yes...a lot of talent this year During your years with the Skins who did u miss out on in the draft because he was taken right before u picked? Scot Mccloughan Ryan Kelly the center from Alabama |

Vick had Tony Dungy in is corner lobbying for him. Who does Kap have? His biggest supporter and the one person who got him to play at his very best is coaching in college. |

Maybe,IMHO on the CK thing. Yes it's money to the owners "collusion" no. Negative press without a doubt.MTK you might get mad but I think the fact that he isn't that good of a QB is he worth the time and aggravation and disruption to the team,no.The NFL is a private organization(a private company)if it wants to put a clause in my contract or the NFL Collective Bargaining agreement they can.I think rule #41 something (or around there) says conduct "detrimental to the League"can be punishable. If he wants to fight for a cause or beat his chest ...fine, all for it and is it his right, yes, on his own time, not someone else's. |

No need for apologies, just tell me to piss off. I really wish someone would just sign him so I can stop hearing bout it. I swear if Miami would have signed tebow last week over kap, the internet would have crashed. |

Ratings are money over that period of time when viwership tanked, but I would like to see the numbers myself. Kap misplayed his hand badly. The fans are mostly white conservatives that go to games or watch to escape politics. Kap should have thought about this beforehand. He is better than a lot of the backups in the league, but he pissed off a lot of folks with his politics. I think he just has to wait a bit til he gets back in the league. |

Ratings were already taking a hit unrelated to CK |

Bortles looks like a QB that's lost his confidence. Add in another team that may try and make a run at Cousins.

One parameter though: the 2018 draft class is said to be rich in very promising QB. Very early mock drafts have 5 or 6 or them drafted in the first round. I know these are not worth much, but teams in need of a QB might prefer drafting a very promising one than overpaying a solid veteran that didn't achieve anything yet. In terms of fan happiness (and thus in terms of the board looking good), I think they'll be better off drafting. I mean, we Redskins fans would be mad to see our first solid QB in 25 or so years leave, but for fans of other teams, who is KC ? The ok QB of the Skins that has no playoffs wins... I'm aware fans don't make these decisions, but I'm thinking as our board didn't want to look like they overpaid KC, other boards may very well think the same thing. Which in the end could help us retain KC ! (Which you know I badly want). |
