This team might win 4 games.
I'll take that bet |
Re: Skins v Bengals week 3 preseason thread
Spaight and Holsey have made some nice plays.
|
Re: Skins v Bengals week 3 preseason thread
Offensive line across the board is not playing good enough to win. We're gonna have some more turnover by next season.
All the corners have looked good. If Breeland is right, i think our secondary will be good. |
Re: Skins v Bengals week 3 preseason thread
a.j,mccaron would be a great pick up if cousins leaves.watched him play every game at alabama, never really had but 1 bad game.

Re: Skins v Bengals week 3 preseason thread
Colt > Cousins by a mile today. Quicker, more decisive, better throws.

If your prediction comes somewhat true. They will win more than 4, but might be under 500, due to the tough early schedule. If they have a losing record we might just drop Kirk just because of the need to retool yet again. I wouldn't resign anyone up for contract renewal either, unless the really earned their keep. If the team goes 7-9, there really won't be that many players worth keeping. I mean how many defensive linemen do we have that are worth a rat's ass? We still have major depth issues. |

sadly,that is the truth. |

Got the W but we have a lot of work to do before Philly.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
A lot of work!!!!! The offense is rather lethargic thus far. Kirk only has one passing touchdown in 3 preseason games. I wasn't expecting him to light it up, but only one? |
Re: Skins v Bengals week 3 preseason thread
I still think Matt Jones is our best RB.

Well Perine definitely isn't! He is practice squad fodder. |

Talent, eye ball test mainly. He can run and catch. I just think he has the best all around skills and has good size. Wonder if we'll keep 4 backs. I'd like to see Jones and Kelley rotate, with Thompson as 3rd down back and Perine getting some touches on short yardage/goalline. |

I would like to see Matt Jones not wearing a Redskins jersey.

I will take the over on 4 wins this year.

Perine will be the starter by week 6. |

Matt Jones will be cut and out of the league in 2 years. He is soft with no heart and is a fumble machine. |

Probably right if he can't make the squad, but Perine isn't all that. He hasn't shown me much. The previous outing he breaks one good run and the rest go for a yard. I know the line is playing poorly, but geez, have to have more than a one yard average to deserve an active roster spot. I was hoping to see some spark in him. I know him being a rook, you have to cut him a lot of slack, but I was just hoping he would have put Fat Rob to shame. |
Re: Skins v Bengals week 3 preseason thread
Perine ain't cuttin it right now...rob Kelly finally looked decent today.
But keep your eye on Chris Thompson...the dude just knows how to make the play we need at pivotal times. I'd like a 60-40 split with the 2 on offense. Perine should be saved for a second half punisher when we need to grind yards and eat time. |

IN the previous games he gets like half his total yardage on one run, then the rest of his runs are like 1-2 yards. Good for goal line stands I guess, but you can keep Mack for that. |
Re: Skins v Bengals week 3 preseason thread
Rookie center Chase Roullier appeared to play a strong first half while starting for injured Spencer Long. Roullier worked well on combo blocks and helped clear openings inside. He has never looked overwhelmed since joining the Redskins as a sixth-round pick. He's been one of their more impressive rookies.

Keim on twitter
Good for him!!!!!!!! It will be funny if he ends up the most valuable pick of this past draft. We need to draft more like him the next two years. |
Re: Skins v Bengals week 3 preseason thread
I think the hype behind Perine needs to calm down a bit. What did he do to warrant being named the 2nd team back besides being drafted? Our two best guys are Thompson and Kelly and those two are the ones that can be trusted. I don't trust Perine or Jones.
|
Re: Skins v Bengals week 3 preseason thread
Perine has gotten like 15 carries this pre season as a rookie and everyone already want him basically cut.

??? He's barely gotten the ball. Chill a bit. As the season progresses, we'll see what we have with Perine. |

Yeah it's preseason and we're already planning to cut everybody at the end of the season ^^ I watched the first half, will finish the game later. -Our defense was solid except for the first drive (OMG our starters allowed a TD, cut them all!). Great to see Brown and Foster solidifying themselves as starters at ILB. Breeland seems to have gotten his shit together. -Glad to see the running game going. -What got me scratching my head is that pass protection is supposed to be the strength of this O-line... and this week they seemed to have taken a huge step forward in run blocking and looked completely lost in pass protection. Cooley said last week during his film breakdown he feels like they don't communicate well at all, blown blocking assignments all the time. -KC has to handle the pressure better, but it was good to see him man up after throwing an ugly pick 6. |

"You Know Football Is Back When Vontaze Burfict Is Facing A Huge Suspension For A Dirty Hit" Just a great headline. |
Re: Skins v Bengals week 3 preseason thread
A couple things that stood out to me yesterday:
Positives: 1. The running game finally looked good. Fat Rob looked good. 2. The defense looks to be better. ILB and Safety standout as better. D-Line 3. Luavo got a big push for the rushing TD. Oline looked better. Negative: 1. WR and Cousins still feeling it out. Doctson away isn't gonna help either, he needs to be ready. Lot of drops yesterday 2. I know its only preseason, but some of the offense playcalling when we cross their 50 gets strange. Quick outs, same consecutive run plays...this is on my radar now for the season. 3. 4 wins. |
Re: Skins v Bengals week 3 preseason thread
It's just hard to judge the offense when they're showing so little. But I'm a little concerned about the wr's. Docston would have played had it been a regular season game. But really how many games can we count on him to play? What's his over/under? 10? I'm starting to get the feeling that it's always going to be something with him. Same with Reed and we're counting on both. Pryor looked like he has a long way to go.
Also the o-line is losing too many one on one matchups. That has nothing to do with scheme. That's just getting beat by the guy across from you. Not going to freak out about Cousins quite yet. He's put two solid seasons on tape. |
Re: Skins v Bengals week 3 preseason thread
I liked that they put a drive together of mainly runs and scored on it. If nothing else maybe opposing D's won't 100% disregard our run game. Also had a lot of 1st down runs for positive gain. Good things.
Still it's preseason, and in the end, what matters is they are ready for the 1st game. My guess is that they will still take 2 regular games, but this is the first preseason under Gruden that felt like he cared about the games enough to push the players who took it lightly. Finally, I think TW definitely took the preseason lightly, won't be the case once the games count. |
Re: Skins v Bengals week 3 preseason thread
The key for me has been no major injuries. Fingers crossed on Phil Taylor.

agreed, commentators even noted that we should have all our starters week one. and I think they got good reps in this preseason. |

But at the same time you'd like your best player to be a leader by example and pull his unit up ! Side note watching the 2nd half right now: Moreau, Nicholson and Holsey looking good... and Galette is out there! Good to see him healthy. |
