I don't think the running game can get fixed until the off season. Even with everyone healthy running it is a struggle. Kelley is just average and Perine is obviously just not ready.
Watching the game again, one killer D play that jumped out was Norman's takedown of Rawls on a 3rd and 1 that stopped a 4th quarter drive. Had a stiff arm in the face and just crushed him by taking that arm and pinning it to the turf. We really missed him.
That was a huge play for sure. Turning point. |

Re: Hawks post game
So, this kind of win comes from the heart. Period. Pretty much no one goes into Seattle (healthy) and comes away with a win, let alone coming in as beat up as this team is and coming away with a win... Unbelievable... This team has heart, and I hope it's not too late to do something this season. Philly looks like the real damn deal, but honestly, if this team was able to stay relatively healthy this year, i feel there would probably be two 6-2 teams atop the NFC East.......let's keep it rolling!

Hail to the Redskins, big win in a very tough place to play. I am very proud of this team doing something like this with all the injuries. Enjoy this one fellas and then on to the Vikings. One game at a time mentality and by any means. Hail Victory!!!

I can’t help but think of that drop against the chiefs. We need to get him involved early and put some pressure on him to make plays. We need him to step up but we have to give him opportunities.. |
Re: Hawks post game
Great ducking win! Unbelievable finish! Game ball needs to go to the Seattle kicker:D
Defense played lights out, unbelievable pressure on Wilson, man Wilson is a hard guy to tackle, like trying to stomp on a cockroach :laughing- Great throws by Kirk at the end, he stood up well to the pressure all day and never looked rattled. Running game it’s not going to be fixed with Kelly and Perine,Man I wish they would give Mack more chances,I wish I knew what Gruden doesn’t see in him. And as Someone else said, props to Hall at the end,That was so close to being a touchdown if he doesn’t swat it away |
Re: Hawks post game
Just watching that douchebag Pete Carroll lose at home was priceless. Are there special NFL rules that allow him to skip all over the field while the play clock is running, in case he needs to, you know, manage the game in a more hands-on way or intimidate a ref?!? What a pill.

As of now, we're the 10th seed. It's to the point of the season where you monitor every NFC game (except Giants and 9ers, probably the Bucs). Really could have used a Chiefs win. Wish they would have lost to Philly and beat Dallas. Hopefully the Falcons can pull it off. I'm already ready for next weekend. |

I agree, in reference to Brown. But, he's no longer with the 'Skins. He's with the Vikings. |

Re: Hawks post game
This win may be one of the best non Super Bowl wins this organization has ever had. To go to Seattle with a team decimated by injuries and come away with a win is fantastic. If there was ever a win that could and should give a team confidence this was it.

Re: Hawks post game
Cousins really needs to trust his receivers not named Crowder, Reed, V Davis and Ryan Grant. Brian Quick and Doctson came through big on routes Cousins has basically ignored the last several weeks. I really hope he builds on this.

Re: Hawks post game
This game was a season changer. A, "You Like That?" type of game. You don't go into Seattle and win, much less stand toe to toe with the Seahawks as a battered and beat up team that's starting back ups (even third stringers) on the offensive line and on the defense. Really showed that we need our offensive line back. Cousins was under duress almost all game long. He spent more time on his back than he did being able to step up in the pocket and deliver a clean pass. Just when you're ready to write Doctson off, he makes a big time play. There's still hope for that kid yet!
Big time win! I really thought Wilson had us in the end. We can also thank Seattle's kicker for missing three very make-able kicks. And we can also thank Seattle's offense for committing a myriad of penalties. But let's not take away from the 'skins, nobody (including a lot of us) gave the 'skins any chance at winning this game. Feels good to beat a quality team like Seattle with half your starters out. And....welcome back DeAngelo Hall! That dude can still ball out! |

No doubt. We are in the brutal portion of our schedule. The Vikings, and then having to go to New Orleans to battle the Saints. If the 'skins can grab at least one win the next couple of weeks, you're looking at 5-5. The rest of the way, the schedule gets a lot easier, and possibly a chance to play the Cowboys without Elliott. Still going to be tough, but let's see what happens. |
Re: Hawks post game
Ryan Grant has quietly made himself a factor this season. I know that most of us would be happy to see Doctson, Crowder, Reed, and Davis getting 98% of the targets (writing off TP at this point). But that 23 yard dart over the middle, a pure hands catch in wet conditions, was just what Kirk needs with a banged up line. Can we rely on that in the same way we can rely on Doctson to go get deep balls? I'm not sure, and maybe Grant is just filling in for Crowder. But RG has shown something this year that most of us didn't see coming.

Re: Hawks post game
Defense gets the game ball. So many played great:
DeAngelo Hall first game back helped solidify the secondary. With Swearinger and Hall we have a dynamic dou at safety. When your secondary is playing like that it raises everyone's play and confidence. It is contagious. Zac Brown and Will Compton led the team in tackles and played with confidence. Terrel McClain had a game no defensive lineman has had for Skins in a long time. On that list drive Kirk Cousin turned off the I am going to careful with ball attitude and let it fly. Wow. He needs to do that more often. On a day we ran the ball for no yards KC carried the offense. It was said he could NOT do that....and against the best defense in the NFL. He proved his critics wrong. Quick and Doctson, need to see more playing time. Our back up O lineman are amazing. |

I agree, Grant this year has provided many key catches. |
Re: Hawks post game
Ryan Grant has shut me up. I wanted him gone in preseason, but he is showing why Gruden had faith in him.
The Skins have a great opportunity to climb back in to the discussion but they need the next 2 wins, and that won't be easy at all. |
Re: Hawks post game
I loved Anderson lining up at FB and the Skins pounding the 2 touchdowns in. That was a new look. And it was an excellent Redzone/Short yardage look.
|
Re: Hawks post game
Anderson also showed up getting after the QB. I had started to forget about him.

He was filling in for Niles Paul, could become an option in the future. |
Re: Hawks post game
HTTR!!! Great win. With one thing you could not expect from this team: winning late in the 4th!
Positives: -D !!! -Manusky: great team effort!!! With key contributors in Allen, Foster and Ioannidis, guys stepped up and played better than ever! This man is a really good coach! -Callahan. Not one healthy starter (Moses' ankles are not ok), this is amazing that they managed to get 2 good drives when needed most. -Roullier -Compton: even without the INT he was having a great game, shedding blocks and making plays in the running game, making the most out of his second chance! Gotta say I really didn't believe in him. Congrats! -KC. You like that? -Lanier -Brian Quick -Docston: finally! No drop, great catches! That's a 1st round pick! Negatives: -TJ Clemmings: getting beat way too easily, bad vision, safety is on him. He's just bad. -Catalina got beat way too much too. I'm pretty sure every sack were on one or both of these 2. - Not a real negative cuz he had a good game but Zach Brown has to improve in zone coverage, again to me he tries to key the eyes of the QB too much and forgets to actually look if there are receivers in his zone. Cost us big yards on the first hawks TD drive. Question mark: Hall. He had a really good game but wasn't he playing free safety responsible for the deep zone on the Baldwin TD were Norman got beaten? |
Re: Hawks post game
It's hard for me to believe that they can lose to either NO or MIN after what I saw last night...especially if they start to get healthier. Will be huge for the wild card tiebreaker.
I don't know about RK and SP returning kicks though. Do we not have anyone else to do that - someone with some speed? |
Re: Hawks post game
Didn't Scherff start but leave the game in the first? Catalina was getting pushed around all game.
No Scherff didn't play. The announcers said he was in the first drive but he wasn't. Catalina all the way. Scherff never wore his helmet on. |
Re: Hawks post game
This is a tough, gritty team that is playing a tough schedule with a lot of starters out.
Just based on the schedule, not sure this is the year we make a deep playoff run or if we even make the playoffs. However, I feel confident that we will be in the conversation and, if we can get a three or four game win streak going, this is a team that no one will want to play. One of the good things happening is that we are developing solid depth. Hopefully, we get the starters back - particularly along the O-Line, and can make a bit of a run. |
Re: Hawks post game
New Orleans will be a tough place to get a win with that dome a rockin.
We need to beat Minnesota. |

But I don't think Seattle is the best defense in the NFL this season: total yards 13th, passing yards 13th, rushing yards 15th, 8th 3rd down %. Great in the Redzone though: they're 4th in points allowed. This is a squad playing with great spirit and stepping up when needed, but not the best D in the NFL. |
Re: Hawks post game
Anthony Lanier’s didn’t show any tackles in the stats, but the pressure he provided was responsible for Wilson’s scrambles and Brown pursuing. I can wait to see Ionnadis, Lanier and Allen lined up. Hopefully Nsekhe comes back this week, they should let Williams rest and only use him as a backup or key games. Let him rest.
New Orleans will be a tough place to get a win with that dome a rockin.
We need to beat Minnesota.
New Orleans has an improved defense and their offense is out of this world. I don't expect our D to be able to shut down Drew Brees and Co. so the offense better be ready to produce more than two good drives. However, the focus should be on Minnesota. I think their D might be tougher than Seattle's, and I think Xavier Rhodes may be one of, if not the, best corner in the league. I think and hope that our Defense can handle their offense. |
