Roster cuts released at 8 or 9 pm tonight.....per JP
Something is up with that, they were supposed to be released at 4pm.....Maybe some trades coming? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Final Cuts 2018
Or maybe they’re picking up guys that were cut (Ripnowski?) and waiting for that initially flurry of activity.

WRONG. Geez. I hope his replacement is going to be a new signing. Vigil has not looked good. When he filled in for Brown against Denver, they ran all over us. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk |

That's a shocker. He played his heart out during preseason. He is a good ST player, too. I thought he earned a job. |

All three are listed as centers... and have 1 start at guard combined. Trent can play guard too. However, there must be another move coming. https://www.redskins.com/team/depth-chart |

Trade Perine for a backup guard from someone else's roster cuts, or pickup someone else's garbage, and I like it. |
Re: Final Cuts 2018
So our WRs are Doctson, Crowder, PRich, Sims, Quinn, and Harris?
And Bergstrom is our 1st backup G/C? The only real surprise to me is Speight. |
Re: Final Cuts 2018
We got 5 running backs, non of them play special teams.
FU JAY! We needed to keep Quick just incase Doctson doesn't work out. Can we really leave our #1 in there for 3 receptions a game? FU JAY! Don Julio 1942... Thats all we need this fine evening. |

Zach Vigil had a bad preseason. But nobody remembers he played really well when he came in late last year when we had lost hope on the season. Still surprised they cut Spaight: Harvey-Clemons is an hybrid nickel player/linebacker, and Hamilton has not looked good at all. So basically we have only one real back up ILB... Also disappointed they kept Hood over Taylor, he had a good game late against the Broncos. We NEED to bring in interior OL depth... |

I still like Hopkins on kickoffs but the beyond 50 distance is very iffy. Overall pretty average kicker. Picking up Bailey off waivers would mean taking on his $3.4 M salary plus eating whatever we gave to Hop. Not sure it’s worth it. |
Re: Final Cuts 2018
Per Rich Tandler:
"At a social event last night, Jay Gruden said that RB Byron Marshall is headed to injured reserve with damage to multiple knee ligaments. That solves the mystery of the team keeping five running backs. The reason they didn’t move him straight to IR is that a player must be on the original 53 to be eligible to be one of the two players who can be activated later in the season." |

I know there was the PFF analysis that had him ranked highly in some sort of tackling statistic but he was always out of position and playing catch up. Taylor has a lengthy injury history, Hood does not. Also, Hood does whatever he is asked to do. I liked the Taylor story, but I think it was the smart move. |

He showed good heart this PS, but I don't think he has good vision. My surprise comes more from what we have without him than from what I saw from him. |

Hopefully our redzone offense improves to the point where we don't need the kicker as much. Maybe we can start converting those 3rd and shorts and get 7's instead of 3's. |

From some Denver writer: Broncos S Su’a Cravens heading to IR and is expected to have another knee procedure. Heard a few weeks ago another procedure on his knee might be needed. |

Bummer for Lanier.

Re: Final Cuts 2018
It’s for the best, I like the developmental story with Lanier, but the dude just can’t anchor at the point of attack. He’s too easy to move in the run game. He’s not a fit for OLB so he only has value as a situational pass rusher from the interior spots but unless we have our top guys hurt you wouldn’t want to take Allen Ioannidis or Payne off the field in those situations. Only two out of the three will be on the field for those plays, so Lanier becomes the fourth.
That just doesn’t help in enough situations. Your 5th and 6th guys need to rotate in to keep guys fresh and be versatile enough to fill in on both pass and run downs if your starters are hurt. Brantley is definitely more versatile. The sacks Lanier got were enticing but the 2nd and 2s were not. |

Whatayamean practice squad? As you know, all players claimed off of waivers must be added to the 53 man roster and a corresponding number of players must be be dropped from the 53 man roster to make room for them. How does swapping out 6 players not speak to the Giants' lack of depth? Not fake news! Real news. |

Really like the move.
Caleb Brantley signing can have some real upside. The guy has some real good quickness and strength. He is disruptive and could turn out to be a great pass rusher and an excellent guy off the bench that can make a difference. I really like this signing. Can we now find a a good young Guard please. |
Re: Final Cuts 2018
I like the Brantley move. The knock on him has been consistency. Watched some old film of him - sometimes taking plays off, not finishing the play, getting easily pushed by double teams, etc. But as the 5-6th DL, he can have time to develop into something special if somehow he gets motivated by a good group of DL we have. Too bad, liked Lanier.
Wondering what's going on with Gallette / Breeland, I guess if first game looks bad we can consider them as post week 1 options.. |
Re: Final Cuts 2018
Is Breeland healed from his serious foot wound? I heard months ago that it was very serious and might require skin grafts.....or something like that.
|
Re: Final Cuts 2018
Slow your roll with all this Brantley stuff.
He is a 6th round pick who was just cut by one of the best defensive coordinators of all time(IMO). If Gregg Williams can't coach this guy up, I doubt he is going to have an impact for us. |
