I like what I saw last week, they easily and efficiently beat a team they were supposed to beat. I look for that to continue this week.
If Dunbar plays like he did Sunday, all season, he'll be holding out next off season for more money, and I wouldn't blame him, he was phenomenal against the Cardinals.
I don't see Dunbar being the holdout type. We took a chance on him and essentially made his career here in the NFL. I feel he'd be pretty loyal to the Skins.

Now, once he plays his contract out (Which, if I remember correctly, isn't very long) and is a legitimate free agent I could see him wanting to be compensated for his worth. Then the question will be if we're willing to pay that amount or not.

Agree. Same with Chris Thompson.

As a Skins fan in Louisville, Kentucky, there are two teams the Skins have to beat (after, of course, the Dallas Cowboys) .... that's the Indianapolis Dolts, and the Cincinnati Bungles. Both of those franchises try to make Louisville part of their market. It's annoying, because they clog up the over-the-air TV choices we get here. And they suck.

Skins 35
Dolts 10
Not ready to crown Dunbar just yet. It's one game. But to do what he has done, change positions at this level and become a starter is just a tremendous feat. You rarely see that happen in the NFL.
This.

Dunbar looked *awesome* --- but that was against Bradford and an older Fitz/not impressive WRs. I'd be happy if he can hold his own over the season with the elite QBs we're playing this year.. But I can't believe it will be like the last game. Teams also may start to do more film review to find his weaknesses/etc.

Anyway, it does say something about our recruiting dept / talent development / coaching -- that we're consistently developing promising young corners recently...

Nice read! This speaks volumes of AP's commitment to football, it is impressive. I'm really curious to see how his body will hold up throughout this season.

Paul Richardson (shoulder) is questionable for Week 2 against the Colts.

Coach Jay Gruden said Richardson suffered the injury in last week's game at Arizona. It's obviously not an encouraging sign that he was held out of Friday's practice. If Richardson can't go for Sunday's home opener, more work would fall on the plates of Jamison Crowder, Josh Doctson and Jordan Reed. Receiving back Chris Thompson could also get a boost from Richardson's absence.

Kinda sux, maybe 18 can step up

Next two years Dunbar will be making 3 million / year, which puts him around top 45 for cornerbacks. What a value if he pans out.

I don't like that. I've watched the beginning of last week's game on the all 22 version. Haven't finished but it felt like the Cards' secondary was respecting Richardson's speed quite a lot, giving some cushion on a lot of plays.
Don't know to what extent but I definitely think it helped the passing game...

Now, the Colts' defense isn't exactly scary. So I won't lose a lot of sweat on that, I really hope we win big, the guys come out ready and hungry, wanting to shut the doubters down, gain confidence to build on for next week:

Their starting left tackle is OUT. I'm predicting a career game for Preston Smith, and no less than three INTs for our secondary due to their inability to run the ball and no time to throw it.

Redskins offense does what they want all day.

Never wish injuries to anyone, but it's "good" to see we're not the only ones hit by injuries.
It's week 2 and both our tackles have injury designations, a bit scary, isn't it?

Sure, why not? Smith might just pad his stats against a reserve OT but he's still useless against real competition. He is surely the most overrated player on our team.

I think this week we'll take a look at and see how good our edge rushers can be with the interior push we are getting from The Alabama Wall. Like many have said, in last week's game, the focus of the defense was to limit Johnson so the pass rush from the edge may not have been this aggressive. Different story this week with a team that is pass heavy with an average running game.

Agree...where the strategy last week may have been contain d Johnson, this week will be get after Luck. It’s a perfect storm for our Pass rushers...we need to get there.

Also, good start last week for Anderson, Flossin, and McPhee in terms of rushing the passer...this week expect Preston and Kerrigan to get in the mix

Colts were unimpressive in loss,I didnt think the Bengals were going to be that good this year but they looked good against Baltimore also{but Mixon is out now}
This should be a win for us{especially if Mack is out again}but It scares me when all the forecasters are jumping on our bandwagon now saying how good we are.
From last weeks performances this should be a 100 yard game for AP and maybe CT too,so we will see

Honestly, while I get people's somewhat of an obsession with Doctson given that he was a first rounder, but right now there are just much more talented pass catching options with the team.

Both Reed and Thompson are elite players when it comes to being pass catchers, and Crowder has the experience that Docston doesn't. I'd put Doctson as the 4th or 5th best receiving option.

I hope he becomes the player he was chosen to be, but I just see too many receivers ahead of him that have more experience and are producing more than him. As long as this happens, I'm not going to be too concerned about him.

I agree that there are better receiving options on the team, namely Crowder, Reed, and Thompson.

Serious question though? If Doctson didn't put up big stats but consistently took the opposing team's #1 corner out of the game every week would that matter? Meaning, if every else put up better stats but it was Doctson getting matched up with the best corners every week (not every play but most of the game) and taking them out of the game would that not be a positive impact?

Ya'll act like we need Doctson to put up 1400/10 td's to be successful. The goal is to win games. He makes 5 impact plays a game (first down's, td's, a big downfield block to spring someone for a td) and I'm good. Not even 5 for me, give me several (3+) clutch plays that impact the game and I'm good.

Starting WR expectations is the contribute at some level...we just need this to happen. I honestly would believe it would elevate the unit as a top 10 offense.

Not that we should care. But I'll admit part of me is glad that this team is finally getting a little bit of respect!

Re: Colts pregame thread

When is that signature game going to happen for Doc? If he could start having some #1 wr production can you imagine how much that would make the offense much better? Doc also doesn't demand the ball like some wr's do. He seems to have a quiet timid personality. If you want to be a great player you have to be somewhat selfish and demand the ball. I just don't see that.
