Fitzpatrick with the quietest 400 ever
One thing we all can say about Alex, yeah it's ugly but the dude is a winner. If u would have said we would be 6-3 and the defense was a top 10 I would have said u are crazy. This is also due to Smith managing the game very well. He's also got a bottom 5 WR corp. So yeah I'll take 6-3

He makes a good point but I don't like Deadspin using that video from the home opener as evidence. I think that game was half full as a result of fan apathy and the hurricane that was supposed to hit the DMV that Sunday, but went off track instead. Otherwise, yeah I'd agree Fedex ain't the experience it used to be. Winning cures that, but this team is winning ugly right now which isn't sustainable IMO. Who expects this streak to last the entire year? |
Re: Bucs Postgame
Why isn’t it sustainable? A good defense goes a long way.

If the Bucs don't miss a couple field goals or convert once inside the red zone, we could be looking at a different game today. Last week we saw what happens when an offense completes drives, the results aren't close. Have we made progress as a D? Abso-fuckin-lutely. Is there still a long way to go? Abso-fucking-lutely. The run d was not that impressive today, the pass d was even worse. The depth has to get better to the point where a guy like Danny Johnson gets cut out of training camp, instead of actually making the roster let alone playing on game days. Our offense has clearly regressed, and who knows how much worse it'd be if AP hadn't signed. Could you imagine Perine or Bibbs being our starting backs this year? No offense to Bibbs, but he still ain't much compared to old man Peterson. Also our FO clearly failed at replacing Garcon and Jackson. As they failed at having interior depth on the o-line (no, one winning game does not mean the plan worked). Finally, ask yourself this: Would you rather this be a 2005 type year, aka a single good season in the midst of years of losing, or would you rather see this team build a roster that competes for championships every year? The defense is good. Still has room to be great. That's all we got right now. Last year the offense was good, now it has regressed (partly through injury, partly through losing talent). |

As we’ve seen this year this team bounces back even after a crushing loss. So maybe it’s time for fans to rinse the sand from their pussies and toughen up a bit. |
Re: Bucs Postgame
I think a lot of armchair analysts/GMs don't like that the team is winning, despite the shortcomings the love to point out every week.
Almost all teams in the league have strengths and weakness, and every time a team's strength is neutralized, they are going to lose. I don't know what's so f*cking hard to understand about that. The team is 6-3, despite a lot of setbacks. And that's all that matters. If you have a problem with that, then don't let the door hit you on your way out. HTTR. |

6-3 is all I’m looking at right now
I'm enjoying it while it lasts. Because I don't think it's gonna last. Happy to be wrong on this one though. Maybe it's just the Caps/Nats fan in me, but watching terrible teams turn it around and build a winning program over a multi-year span which allows them to be contenders every year (culminating in finally getting over the hump with the Caps this year) made me realize championship trophies are worth the wait. But if you're regressing at the same time you're progressing, it doesn't seem realistic. Like I said enjoying the ride, because this sweetheart fairy tale doesn't have a happy ending. A team stacked on offense is going to clean our clocks if we somehow manage to make the playoffs/win the division. |

In other words usually that over 500 yards from the opposing offense gets you a big fat L. Yes we absolutely made a couple nice plays to get the turnover but it was absolutely not a good showing by the D as far as the coming weeks are concerned. Between the last two weeks we have been absolutely gashed. How many times have all the people crying about being negative after a win today said “man we beat ourselves today - we should have won - we were the better team - that other team couldn’t stop us we stopped ourselves? Well it works both ways. Today the Bucs beat the Bucs and we just happened to be there. As always let’s see what the future holds. Im not drinking the kool aid yet. Not until there are more tests run on its toxicity. |

Judging P. Smith on sacks alone is just dumb. He’s been very solid all year.

The Skins aren’t winning the SB but can they win the division and maybe win a playoff game? Definitely. Enjoy the ride kids.

Nobody is saying that. Lol. We are saying we would rather see a competent team win, than an incompetent team beat itself to our delight. Yes a win is a win. Im over the rainbow excited we got it, BUT, did your eyes tell you today that we are actually going to compete against a good team? Mine certainly did not. It is ok to be skeptical after a win if you think your team cannot normally win playing like they did. |

Not just sacks, but pressures, tfl, etc. I see as a guy who is basic. I’d really believe our defense could be next level with better play at a pivotal pass rushing spot in the league. If you ask me to chose....pay Preston smith or take his money and pay Clinton Dix...I’m gonna pay the better player every single time. And it’s not close, Clinton Dix is the better player. |
Re: Bucs Postgame
Suck it whiners. The 'skins won. Ugly or not, they won. No offensive line, struggling QB, and a defense that couldn't tackle half the time, yet, only gave up 3 points. I'll take it.
If they can sweep the Giants, at least split with the Eagles and Cowboys, that's 9 wins right there and a 4-2 record in the division. They can pick up at least a 10th win. |
Re: Bucs Postgame
My concerns for next week and improvement is needed here:
Better tackling Got to get to the QB and stop the scrambling, Fitzpatrick looked Fran Tarkenton out there. Deshawn Watson is a different animal. |
Re: Bucs Postgame
We got the Texans and than on the road against Dallas n Philly. Honestly right now my brain tells me we are 6-6 in three weeks. Giants at home is a win. At Jags, at Titans, vs Eagles. 7-9 is entirely not out of the equation if we don’t fix our offense, and clamp down on D as far as yards (which again normally lead to points). That isn’t Debbie Downer that is a completely realistic scenario. We need to get healthy and better or this 6-3 is just a fairytale like Mooby said. I don’t think there are any other 6-3 teams right now that you could make a case for finishing with one more win without going out on a limb. Enjoy the win for sure but PROCEED WITH CAUTION.

Hopefully next week we get Quinn, Dunbar, Thompson, Crowder back. This should help quite a bit, we have proven we can beat good teams, they just need to be consistent. |
Re: Bucs Postgame
Next 3 games will determine our season. Lose all 3, no playoffs. Win 1 of 3, still in pretty good position but gets uncomfortable, win 2 of 3, we're in fantastic position, and would probably be a lock, win all 3 and it's a playoff guarantee with a great chance for home playoff game.

Re: Bucs Postgame
Well, as someone who thought we’d get crushed when our D was letting the Bucs move the ball with ease, I’m so thrilled to be wrong. Holding any team to 3 points is an achievement, yards notwithstanding. This win showed some grit - the D clamped down when it counted and the offense did just enough to win.
We’d all like to see the offense improve, but the injuries are brutal and missing 3 OL (two pro bowlers), your deep threat, and your 3rd down back is hard. And missing the CB whose had the best season in your squad isn’t easy either. Getting some guys back will be crucial for the team to keep winning against better opponents and I hope that happens. A lot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Bucs Postgame
Whiners can suck it. The team gets a big win on the road, with all these injuries, against an NFC team, and you just can't bring yourself to enjoy it. F U - fair weather fans. You're the same ones that are probably selling your tickets to the other teams fans at home games. Josh Norman is right, we have the worst fans, collectively, in the NFL. It's over halfway through the season, the Skins are two games up in the NFC East, there's only like five teams in the entire NFL that have a better record, and it's just not good enough. Unbelievable... Do yourself (and us real fans) a favor and find another team to root for.

Re: Bucs Postgame
What does a team that has 500 yards total offense average in points scored?
It has to be 40+. I cannot believe the Redskins let them march up and down the field and only gave up 3 points. I just listened on the radio. my TV died yesterday I could not have watched if I wanted to. The game must have been something to watch. Look at that, with a QB that doesn't turn the ball over, with a great punter and decent place kicker you can win by double digits on the road while being out gained by over 200 yards! |
