You got a good guy ,if he can stay healthy he's a beast his coverage skills are lacking but he is a great guy.I think you over paid at 14 million a year!

Welcome to free agency, the initial signings are typically all overpaid. Nature of the beast.

He'a a box safety, (cover 3 type guy) possibly a 2/4 scheme. He lacks in coverage but is amazing against the run.

And the initial reports are inflated (total contract money vs. actual guaranteed money).

This is great since we play against Zeke and Barkley two times per year
$45 M garunteed not really too bad ... Heavily incentive laced deal I guess
For a in the box safety? It is real bad. Collins is about as good as Swearinger. I think DJ probably has better cover skills and Collins is better in the box. You just can't pay a guy like Collins that kind of money, especially in a passing league.

I do like that he wants to be here and is a huge fan of #21.
Dumb. Just plain old dumb. Not worth the money at all. If we were going to pay that amount to a safety then I would have rather paid it to Mathieu. He is probably much more of a complete player and has better open field skills to cover TE's. Our front office seriously has the biggest hard on for Bama players that I have ever seen.
At this point, I wonder if it a strategy...Nick Saban is a defensive coach...he lets guys come in and manage the offense which tends to be a run first, run second, and play action big pass play.

A defense with so many Alabama players, is the end game Saban after Jay?

The recent trend of young offensive coach...give me Saban all day over these guys.

Leave O'Connell as OC, Saban HC...and please get our aweful DC outta here. Id take that easily.

What hurts more is watching him muff punts all year. We’ll get another slot. I’m not worried.

Other than Pete Carroll I can't recall any recent college coaches who have made a difference in the NFL. Bill O'Brien is the other one, but he still hasn't done anything newsworthy. I'm not concerned with Saban's talent evaluating skills, I worry about his coaching style when it's 53 paid professionals vs. young college kids trying to prove themselves. He said it best too, he already tried it once and embarrassed himself.

I agree the price was too high, but this is a very good point. To win the nfc east, you must stop the run

Landon Collins is awesome and will be an absolute difference maker on a defense that was close to being pretty effin solid last year. At this point though we still have a shit coach and a shit offense so im not hitting the kool aid. I said now we can concentrate on the offensive side of the draft - meaning for the future. Next year is an absolute wash. But our D will be fun to watch.

Punch got nothin but mostly respect for you man, but you are high as a fucking kite if you think we were close to being solid last year. The second half we looked like absolute garbage, and there were no injuries that would've made for a convenient excuse.

While I love defense and would invite a dominating one...I simply don’t see it with this terrible d cord.

Also, look at the offense...no left guard, no tight end blocking...under performing tight ends in general, no qb, a bottom-3 receiver group in the league, etc.

Defense ain’t a worth a shit if its on the field 66% of the time.

With our dimming hopes for competent passing game, you better fucking transform the offense into a ground, possession-based attack.

Chico23231 03-11-2019 10:08 PM

Re: Redskins Free Agency Thread

I’m hoping we pass on haha now. Rather have someone on the back end who can cover...leave Collins up close to the line where he wins most often.

There were a couple key injuries on D, but I think as the year wore on and our D was on the field for massive amounts of time and our chances were fading that they finally were deflated and defeated. This could happen again.
Our DC is a joke too.
Still we showed flashes last year of being a real good unit on that side, and Collins is a big time upgrade.

He's not a good fit here. They already tried a hard ass coach w/ Marty and that lasted one year. Saban is just too much of a control freak. Too much my way or the highway. That way doesn't work at Redskin Park.

It doesn't work much period, in the NFL. Only in NE and that is largely due to Brady being Brady. If they had any other QB , that offense would not be as good.

Its not going to happen for a bunch of reasons. If Saban wants another shot in the NFL he'll have much better options than here.

Unless Snyder throws an insane amount of money his way and gives him total autonomy which seems highly unlikely.
