Unless Haskins has improved a lot from preseason I still agree with sitting him.
He obviously needed to improve his footwork and his ability to protect himself. Not fixing the later could get him turned into roadkill behind the Redskins current O-line.

As the losses mount up Gruden will be forced to go to Haskins. Probably after the bye week at the latest. That would be against the Jets on November 17th. By then Smithers and Gruden should either feel comfortable in claiming that Haskins is "ready" or in selling the QB change to the public as "rebuilding".

I was born in DC and started listening to Skins games on the radio in the mid-1960’s. I have a closet full of Skins swag and, fortunately, great memories from the first SB through the first Gibbs era. For you younger guys, there is nothing like a dominating season that culminates in a Super Bowl win. It is pure ecstasy. A decade of excellence is even better.

The franchise no longer can claim any connection to those glory years. Snyder has built a failed, dysfunctional organization, and the product on the field is embarrassing. It’s only the NFL cash cow that keeps it going. We have a good nucleus of players (giving Haskins the benefit of a doubt), and I feel for them and want them to thrive.

But the time has come to stop buying what Snyder is selling us. It is simply not acceptable. Don’t think of it as apathy, think of it as activism, the way Flint Michigan folks said they’re not going to drink the lead in their water.

I will never root for an NFL team other than the Redskins. I’m not going to burn my swag — I hope to wear it again one day. But I will not give Snyder another nickel, and I urge the fan base to do the same. Twenty years is beyond enough. We deserve better, and the only way that will happen is for Snyder to be brought to his knees. Let’s do our part, not because we hate the Redskins, but because we love them and want them back.

The part about the Gruden/AP report really made logical sense to me, the only outcome is making Gruden look bad for not liking AP.

Not to mention fines. Gordon is ending his holdout and I heard this morning that with missing 3 game checks and fines imposed, he is looking at a loss of $2.4 million. Chargers organization has a history of not waiving fines either.

Bell's decision was a longevity one. As a RB, it kinda made sense to me.

In the end, I think Bell made the wrong decision but as a RB I think he did have to decide if he wanted to continue playing on 1 year contracts with no future guarantees.

The Steelers were running him hard, putting a lot of wear and tear on his tires. I think if the Steelers had him touching the ball less, he would not have held out.

Trent - I dont blame him. He is 31, he has been here his entire career and now wants out of one of the worst run franchise in sports. He also has a crappy contract after this year with less than 2M guaranteed (it may even be 0 guaranteed).

Trent should absolutely be holding out. Now if the Skins offered him a 4 year/15M per w like 30M guaranteed then at least the Skins are making a competitive offer.

I bet if the Skins had made a competitive offer, Bruce would have leaked it by now. But I bet the Skins made a below FMV offer because of course.

Trade him and move on. Thats what any normal organization would have done. Instead they are holding on like they did with Kirk for reasons that only sound logical in Bruce and Danny's head.

It's real easy to dismiss it because it comes from the mouth of Chris Russell (and Grant Paulsen got in on it too) but Snyder/Allen being jealous of the Caps/Nats success and the fan support makes perfect sense to me. You think Snyder doesn't care that the Caps sell out the majority of the regular season games, or that they delivered a title, or that the Nats made the playoffs after starting 19-31? Meanwhile there is no positive hype whatsoever about the Skins, they have to keep eliminating seats out of the stadium because games are never full anymore, even the games that do sell out are dominated by out-of-town fans (did anybody hear the Bears chants on Monday night [I]before the game even started[/I]?) They were chanting on Monday Night Countdown. Fan support for the Skins has never been lower, meanwhile fan support for the Caps (and the Nats somewhat but not on the Caps level) is high every year. You really think Dan Snyder is not the type to be jealous about it?
