Re: Why moving on from Bruce Allen this year is pivotal to the future of the franchise.
Agreed!
We are at another poignant moment in the Snyder owned Skins as we sink to 0-3 with more drama than most franchises with the only remaining holdout situation and a first round QB sitting on the bench while other rookie QB flourish on the field. Typical Skins in a Snyder-Bruce Allen era. Snyder isn’t going anywhere but could it be time for Allen to be fired? It’s the perfect time for Bruce to go as we are actually in a good position to reset the franchise. 1. The coaching staff is about to be turned over, A new GM will get to influence immediately the direction of field strategy and scheme. A young Offensive mind, a young Defensive mind, a college level coach, an experienced coordinator, a previous coach retread...this is the most important decision coming this offseason. Gruden was a Tampa-safe pick Bruce special which failed. 2. We have young talent at WR, QB, D-line, LB, and other pockets all over the field. Experienced kickers on special teams. The team’s talent isn’t bad and the depth is decent. 3. We are about to turnover aging vets and a swell of cap space is coming available next year. VD, CT, Colt, Case...contracts are up. Kerrigan has no guaranteed money after this year on his contract. Reed, AP, Norman, TW and Moses all contracts have limited guaranteed contracts and are all in play to cut and move on from. Even with Alex Smith cap hit, we could have some of the biggest cap space in the league if cuts happen....And they def should. 4. A new voice is needed for the fans. Goes without saying...ratings, attendance all time lows for the Org. We don’t want old Skins walking around, talking about the glory years...fuck that noise. We need a plan for the future and we need to move away from the past. A new GM could deliver a vision...or even develop a culture. 5. We need a GM who players can trust. If we don’t trade TW and he sits or reluctantly returns...We need a GM who can fix this issue fairly quick. I could see a situation where a new GM comes in, smooths over and extends the best Tackle in the game. It wouldn’t be the worst thing. Also, extending Scherff should be a top priority. But a new GM who can build stronger relationships with our players could change culture. I think things could change quickly if a new GM comes in and Bruce is fired. It’s our most important decision Snyder makes this year and he needs to do it now.
|
Yeah, I don’t know...I think Bruce firing is def on the table. I think it’s not really the performance of team, but the decline in the dc market and apathy he sees in the fans...I think this is most concerning thing to Dan.
What makes you feel that Dan is even concerned about it? I'm not being a smartass. When Dan looks out there, he sees people going to the games, he sees merchandise being sold, etc... He doesn't strike me as the kind of individual who would notice things such as declining attendance, etc.. Even Michael Lombardi during his interview was asked like two different times if Dan Snyder was stupid as a human being, and Michael didn't answer it. He didn't defend him. Dan wouldn't notice something like what we are talking about until he one day goes out to a 25% full stadium. |

Yup, I figured he would give it to Adrian Peterson for his Hall of Fame speech. |
Re: Why moving on from Bruce Allen this year is pivotal to the future of the franchise.
Let's start placing bets.
A. Manusky gets fired tonight/tomorrow. B. Gruden and Manusky get fired tonight/tomorrow. C. Allen, Gruden, and Manusky get fired tonight/tomorrow. D. Gruden gets fired tonight/tomorrow. Should be C but most likely it will be D, then possibly B. |
Re: Why moving on from Bruce Allen this year is pivotal to the future of the franchise.
I think A but like you said should be C. I think Gruden gets fired if we lose to the dolphins and are 0-6 or right after the game before the bye week...

gruden will be gone in under 24 hours |
Re: Why moving on from Bruce Allen this year is pivotal to the future of the franchise.
It brings up an interesting question.
Do you fire Gruden going into the Pats game, which is about as guaranteed an L as it's ever gonna get? Or do you wait until after the game and fire him then knowing the Dolphins game is probably your best chance to win all season? The more I think the better it seems to get the L to the Pats out of the way, then fire him and hopefully Allen/Manusky going into the Dolphins game so your new staff has a terrible opponent to prepare for. |

Dan Snyder,
It is time for new leadership. Someone qualified. Someone that is not afraid to say no to you. You are rich and a successful bussinessman. That does not make you qualified to run an NFL front office. Hire a professional. Someone like Charlie Casserly. Not because he is great or my favorite choice. But he is one of the few experienced candidates that would take this job and that has done it before. Anybody like Casserly would be an improvement over BA. Re: Why moving on from Bruce Allen this year is pivotal to the future of the franchise.
I wanted to start a new thread, but I know the basic concept has covered in all the threads. My question would be this.
WTF does it take to get DS to make a change anymore. I know the media used to harangue him for being impetuous. But let's be serious, Jay Gruden has had 5+ years to show he could be a consistent winning NFL coach, instead he has shown over and over he can't get the team ready for even basic games. Our D has been atrocious, our offense looks inept (Jay's own words). Or BA, he clearly has had issues with the players and agents at this point. He also clearly poisons communications with awful petty leaks and comments. If after all of these things DS can't pull the trigger, what event will it take to trigger it. I have no idea |

Re: Why moving on from Bruce Allen this year is pivotal to the future of the franchise.
I've said it before and will say it again, unless we fall upon dumb or blind luck then we'll never have any success (certainly not anything sustainable) with Snyder as the owner.
I've finally resigned myself to it. |
Re: Why moving on from Bruce Allen this year is pivotal to the future of the franchise.
Snyder should fire Bruce Allen....and then relieve Jay Gruden of his duties....promote Doug Williams to team president and give Kyle Smith the official GM title....then make Bill Callahan or Ray Horton the interim head coach.....

No it doesn't. No guarantees that anyone is getting fired this year. And the more i think about it, i'm not so sure that we are "guaranteed" Gruden is fired after the season. We know Allen isn't going anywhere. As many folks have mentioned, Dan and Bruce are well aware of the fact that no one wants to come work for them. I think right now there still stands a good chance of Jay coming back next season (He is already under contract, i believe), with a new DC and new staff that has been picked for him. It is also possible this season that playcalling is taken away from Jay, but i'd say only a 50/50 chance of that at this point... The worse has not happened yet. Basically we are guaranteed a loss next week, and the calls for the firings and everything are going to be at their loudest once we go 0-5 next Sunday... |
Re: Why moving on from Bruce Allen this year is pivotal to the future of the franchise.
The key thing with GM position, it MUST work in unison with the new coach. We need everyone on the same page for once.
Not Bruce trading for MCNabb when Shanny didn’t want McNabb. Not Bruce trading and extending Alex Smith, when it was a poor fit for Gruden’s scheme. This shit pisses me off so fucking much.
Great point. This is the Skins biggest problem. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. The GM and head coach do need to work in unison but really the GM needs to work for the HC because its the HC who knows the system and culture and what kind of players he needs the GM to find to make it all work. |

Re: Why moving on from Bruce Allen this year is pivotal to the future of the franchise.
For those saying they don't believe Dan really cares about how things are going, just remember...we know he at least tried to replace Manusky and possibly Gruden in the offseason...we just don't know to what extent and/if Allen was involved with any of that. While I like the idea of bringing in Gibbs to help with the replacement of Allen, if we are so lucky for that to actually happen, I don't think Gibbs would do it or should really be the one to, and maybe someone like Tony Dungy would be a better choice to help guide Snyder through the transition. Dungy is well respected, still plugged into the league, and if nothing else would provide some damage control and send a message to the league that..."hey I'm trying here to put things on the right path"...just a thought.

The owner of the team can do that. I agree on Gibbs, but I don't think much of Dungy. Honestly, unless Dan changes [not likely] it isn't going to matter who takes Allen or Gruden's place.

I agree with everything Craig Hoffman is saying here. Real good read, scathing assessment of the Skins current position and bleak alternatives going forward.

I just can't see how Synder justifies having this piece of shit running his franchise.
The only answer that seems plausible is that he is an even bigger piece of shit and uses Bruce as a shield. Bruce ruins everything he touches, so it clearly has nothing to do with football business acumen. Bruce = 💩💩💩💩💩 Dan = 💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩 |
