Re: WFT 2020 Training Camp
They both belong in the 4-3. Our interior DL rotation is going beast mode this year.
Oh, and we just added Chase Young to the edge. I expect nothing less than sheer domination from the front 4. If Holcomb can improve in pass defense, the whole front 7 is going to be nasty as fuck. |
Re: WFT 2020 Training Camp
So Logan Thomas is on the Covid list.. We legit could be starting undrafted Thad Moss lol
Other than old ass Peterson, this is by far the youngest offense in the league |

Saw a video of Brady throwing to Bucs teammates at a practice today. --------- Redskins are on the field doing conditioning drills If brady is throwing balls to his guys, Haskins better be throwing balls as well. Im confused ... shouldnt it be virtual meetings right now and not practice? |

Ugh. Surreal. Great to see the guys at the facility though. Small step but a big one.
-Position you're most excited about:
Not position, but pass rush. If we can average over 3 sacks per game then we should be a top 10 defence. Though I agree if the O doesn't click that might not matter. -Position you're most worried about: OL definitely. I have faith in the coaching but aside from Scherff we have no names. We really need a new Hogs group to form. -Position battle you're most intrigued about : RB but big if on Guice and Love. And if Gibson is in the mix a la McCaffrey, it could really take the pressure off the short to mid passing game (I see a lot of screen type plays). That in turn would open up more deep shots. IF it all clicks it could be a big play O. -Sleeper player you think will have a big impact: I want to put Sims into this slot. With Harmon out he has the perfect opportunity to build on last season, especially if Gandy-Golden steps up to draw some coverage. 3 amigos anyone?
I don't really care about names at that position, but yeah with an aging and ever more penalized Moses, Scherff who didn't have his best season last year, Roullier who I like but is no pro baller, an incertain battle of the Wes at RG and a huge question mark at LT, I sure can understand your worries. |

I’m worried about OL and CBs the most. The CB group should have an easier time given our pass rush, but I was hoping for more FA help there after losing Dunbar (which, as it turns out) was a good thing given his legal issues. Getting Fuller back helps, but Darby is not an upgrade and the rest include Moreau (can he start?) and the other youngsters (Johnson and Stroman) who are still unproven. Can we protect the QB enough to have a vertical game and can we keep teams from going deep on us? Unclear. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Really that is great news about Alex Smith. Two years after nearly losing his life. Glad he is well.

Fuller is an obvious solid starter, I do think Darby is an upgrade over an aging Norman who clearly didn't have it anymore and/or didn't fit the system, and I don't think it's crazy to hope at the very least one out of Moreau/Moreland/Stroman will have a break out season. So I'd say we're set. Intrigued about depth competition and who's outside/nickel spot. But not worried one bit. |

I disagree with that. We have a ton of POTENTIAL and I think Sims proved himself as a legitimate playmaker last season. The team is toying with moving Sims to Z (outside) receiver alongside McLaurin, but then the slot WR might end up being Trey Quinn. Using Sims as a straight downfield threat is exciting though. Gandy-Golden is competing for a starting spot, but his chances are better if Sims stays in the slot. Antonio Gibson will be in the mix too and if Coach Rivera's assessment of his talent is accurate, it's going to be fun to watch. If we had not lost Harmon, we'd be really solid. |

I hope they all do but until we see it I'm not too high on this offense.. The defense better be able to stop teams |

Speaking of WRs
The Washington Football Team is expected to sign WR Dontrelle Inman, source said, a move that should be made today pending physical. The veteran played 7 games for the #Colts last year, with 12 receptions for 181 yards. |

Yeah I wouldn't expect too much but never know, maybe he can add some quality reps |

Honestly, I wouldn’t mind giving Josh Gordon a try out. We are way thin...this season is gonna be a tryout period for a lot of guys.

12 catches for 181 yards.
Well, that just about replaces Paul Richardson's numbers...hopefully for a LOT less money. |
Re: WFT 2020 Training Camp
In 2016 with the Chargers he had 58 catches for 810 yards and 4 TDs, so yeah that's probably his ceiling
|
Re: WFT 2020 Training Camp
That was the year Keenan Allen tore his ACL at the beginning of the Week 1 game.
It was scrub time from the get-go for the Chargers that year. |

We are probably not competing for anything special this year and this guy has had chance after chance after chance to show he will take football seriously. He is the last dude I want around a bunch of young guys or in the locker room at all really. If we were one weapon away from competing Id say give him another chance but we are not. The reward does not outweigh the risk in this case. It’s a no for me dawg. |
Re: WFT 2020 Training Camp
I didn’t know Sam Mills was on the coaching staff. Love it! That guy played with real abandon and was a great team leader. And he know Rivera and his defense.

I think the pass rush is going to be great and the entire defense will surprise some ppl by moving from our prior dog shitte status to a “top 10” defense. I see the biggest improvement and surprise for the NFL as being Dwayne Haskins. Most of the NFL stopped watching Haskins after his first game. They assumed that he was going to be a draft bust. I see him winning some games for us this year. That’s if we can get some WR’s past McLaurin and Sims, Jr. AND the OL is decent. The biggest question is at TE. We didn’t pick up anyone significant in the draft or UDFA or FA except maybe Moses. Moses is a long shot. I think Rivera is going to regret not picking one of the top TE FA or using a higher draft choice or trade pickup at this position. Although we have more questions at the OL, I think we have some good talent and backups there. We’re just not sure who the real performers are going to be. At TE we have NOTHING unless we get another UDFA miracle like Steve Sims, JR. I think our latest WR pickup (Inman) shows that Rivera and Smith want to try a bunch of WR from previous years, UDFA, our draft picks. I think we will find good or surprisingly WR to add to McLaurin and Sims, Jr. It’s TE I’m really worried about. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: WFT 2020 Training Camp
John Keim - Rivera said Alex Smith knows about 75% of the playbook already, and says Haskins isn't far behind that. Says DH has done the extra things and has done the job that deserves recognition.
I'm really happy to hear that the guy that most likely won't even play, is ahead of the "probable" starter in learning the new playbook. Awesome. Why would he say that? |
Re: WFT 2020 Training Camp
Smith has been around a lot longer and worked with Norv in SF, so it's natural that he would be ahead in terms of the playbook. Not a big deal.
|
Re: WFT 2020 Training Camp
TE definitely is a question mark.

TE. Somebody needs to step up and take the job. Moss has the name but not much else. Sprinkle is below average in everything imo.

The biggest question is at TE.
It is. Delanie Walker is still a FA. When able to stay healthy, he's solid and we should bring him in for a look. Has to be better than what we have now. I wouldn't worry about his age, TEs seem to play a long time...see Antonio Gates, Vernon Davis, Witten, many others. |
