What is the black national anthem? Just curious since I've never heard of it.

The irony of millionaires holding hands in unity while millions of citizens of every race creed and gender suffer at the hands of poverty, unemployment, inner city violence, and a bogus war on drugs while middle america bickers back amd forth. Ahh democracy.

Let the season play and if they want to try ro do good. YAY for them.

We aren't doing fall sports this year. Frankly youth sport parents are psychotic on a whole other level and I don't trust crazy soccer mom to keep her covid kid home on game day so this is the first fall I have had Sundays free in about 5 years. Looking forward to the season no doubt though I thought last night was a snoozer.

Texans had no urgency in the game last night, they didn't even run no huddle plays when they were 3-4 TDs behind. This is 100% on O'Brien.

On a different note, I'm glad I snagged Fuller in 10th round for one of my FFLs. It's likely to be short-lived, as least it's already paying dividends for me.

Glad gridiron26 is a better analyst than both ESPN or some other garbage paid media piece of crap.

This is 100% correct. O’Brien sucks, the team energy and general preparation is 100% on him. Game was over first half. I saw the same thing...good call

The curse of the Bill Bellichick coaching tree continues. And O'Brien has been one of the few successful coaches from the BB coaching tree. That might be ending this year.

I've owned Fuller off and on in my keeper league. The guy lives in the cold tub. He will tease you, have a great game or two then will pull a hammy.

Same here.

I don't know if Hopkins leaving will result in his production go down because he'll get more attention or up because he's pretty much Houston's top target.

No clue. And don't want to hear it. We have one anthem as far as I'm concerned. The NFL should be ashamed of themselves for playing it.

Can we leave the political commentary to other threads? I’d really like to be able to have a little separation from the social commentary and football. Unless you want people to start teeing off on each other, which this thread is sorely tempting me to do. I’d rather just bond with everyone over the mutual affection for our team.

I am left. I used to be in the military for 12 years. I never burned a flag. But I also couldn´t care less if you burned the flag of my country because it is only a piece of cloth representing an artificially created political entity.

One thing you guys have better than us (on top of Rugby World Cups won), is national anthems. All 3 are beautiful.

Watching rugby in a pub packed with British people is always embarrassing when it comes to singing. Even drunk as mfers I remember them singing very well, beautiful songs, while we couldn't sing our stupid salacious songs correctly to save our lives.

You gotta admit we got the better food though, otherwise the South West of France wouldn't be invaded by British retirees every summer... :D

The scene in "Casablanca" where Victor Laszlo leads the French in singing "La Marseillaise" to drown out the German soldiers singing German drinking songs is quite moving, though.

Yeah I usually stay away from Fuller but I think with Fuller in the last year of his contract, he even hired a personal trainer to work on his body, now he is only WR on the team that Watson has a great rapport with, and him falling to 10th round. I felt it's worth taking the risk on Fuller. We will see how long that lasts though.

I might be the exception as Englishmen go but I don't like our anthem. Too slow and stoic. At least La Marseillaise has a good tempo. Given the choice I'd prefer Rule Brittania.

( Nothing like a good old food, beer and thousand years old love-hate relationship talk to move on from political talk, right ? ;) )

Back to football, lot of exciting match ups tomorrow !

Most obvious one being Bucs @ Saints division match up, TB debuts in Tampa vs a very good New Orleans team.
On paper the Saints have an impressive roster, they bulked up their secondary and should be a top NFC seed.

Quite intrigued to see how the Pats and the entire AFCEast division are going to look like too.

calia 09-12-2020 01:07 PM

Re: Around the NFL Week 1

I think the Pats May be bad. They lost a ton of talent to FA and COVID IPR outs.

The TB/NO game ought to be awesome. Two balanced and powerful teams - and well coached.

Would love to see the Rams crush Dallas in the new stadium. I hope McVay has some tricks in store. Aaron Donald may eat up the Boys line which is a bit depleted. Not sure the Rams O can keep up though.

As is true every year, I think injuries will be key - especially with less contact in the preseason, guys may not be fully ready for the hard hits. Hope it doesn’t happen.

I thought I would share this non football related great story here. If you live around Baltimore and have listened to 105.7 the fan over the last 5 years you have heard of if not heard Mo Gaba. He was an amazing boy that battled life struggles in a way that touched a lot of people and pretty much every sports fan in Baltimore. Sadly he passed away in July after his 6th battle with cancer at the age of 14. Here is a great story about who he was:

https://theathletic.com/1989076/2020/08/12/mostrong-the-boy-who-inspired-athletes-and-rallied-a-city/

At the Ravens Browns game today. They had a section of 500 cut outs of Mo called Mo's rows

https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/ravens/ravens-unveil-mos-rows-cardboard-cutouts-superfan-mo-gaba

Then typically they have the end zone purple with the letters for BALTIMORE in white letters. They did that but put MO in gold in honor of Mo.

Great story.
