Actually, Wilson and the Seahawks has looked pretty damn average for the past month. I still thought they'd beat the Giants today, but Seattle's shoddy play lately reared its head in an ugly way for our fortunes.

The Eagles will draft 5th. Dallas and Cincinnati already have their QB. They will be able to pick up a new cheap QB to offset Wentz contract.

I get where you're coming from, but that player would need to play like something close to a 25 million per year player, or Wentz is still a huge drag on their salary cap. He's like an even worse Landon Collins contract. Yeah, Curl has been great for a rookie, but Collins is still dragging us down for at least 2 more years. Teams need to maximize every dollar. Let alone 20+ million dollars.

I know this wasn’t the main point of this post but; Does anybody think Curl will be relegated back to the bench once Collins is healthy? I think it’d be hard to sit him down with how he’s played so far.

His performance could drop off these last few weeks, but I think they need to keep him on the field so he can (hopefully) keep improving.

I think Collins will start when healthy. Not sure if that's the right call or not. Good thing about Curl is he has some versatility, so you can still get him on the field. I.e. nickel sets, etc.

We will see if Collins will start. I mean he is out for the season right? We are a long ways away from determining who's going to start at safety next year.

Collins should be done here IMO. He has showed absolutely nothing and it's sunken costs, When you make a bad move you move on from it.

Wtf are the Eagles thinking today? Wentz has fallen off a cliff and they just paid him a ton of money. You have to try and get him right but he is playing like absolute garbage.

What I’m most impressed by is how much of a mess Doug Peterson and Howie Roseman have made of that championship team in a short amount of time.

Meanwhile, Schwartz has done a great job maintaining an defense which is largely undermanned at LB and secondary.

If Wentz would become available, I would certainly hope we would take a chance.
Watch Wentz end up back with Reich in Indy and revive his career.
This. I don't see Wentz getting traded. If Hurts out trains/plays him between now and spring they are more likely to bite the bullet of cutting him as I can't see who'd trade for him with that contract. Can't help wondering if the injury is a factor in his play since...

Collins is the same problem; barring somebody agreeing an idiotic trade, we're probably going to have to swallow that cap loss. :(

Monkeydad 12-07-2020 12:52 PM

Re: Around the NFL week 13

I think they need to trade him while they can salvage some value, and before they actually pull the plug on him and bench him. I think they have to suffer out the year with him so they don't tank his trade value by already giving up on him, like Trubisky in Chicago.

If they bench him now, he might go from a 3-4th round compensation to 6-7th, or nothing.

Re: Around the NFL week 13

Landon Collins is def not worth the money we gave him, plays a position I think you can find and fill fairly easy but he is an above average player imo. He is a starter in the NFL. I also think he is a leader on D and especially the secondary.

If we cut him in the offseason, its 13.8M in dead money.

I dont know what you do with him but I imagine he plays for us in 2021 .... as a 17.2M cap hit. Crappy situation for us.

Is Wentz really playing that bad or is his O Line playing that bad? I know he has been the most sacked QB in the NFL like around 60 Times. Heck one game he was sacked 8 times.

Your favorite coach...lol. To not have at least one safety on the last play of the game where Oakland had to go deep is inexcusable. Shouldn't have waited until today. Should have been fired right after game.

The corner also played just pathetic coverage. He bit on a double move. No point of doing that when all you had to do was play the deep ball.

Just bad all around but GW has to take the fall for putting his db in that position.

Just saw the replay of the Jets blitz vs raiders. Wow. Credit the raiders for leaving 7 in to pass pro.

If I was a Jets fan, I think Id love it. Youre in a very tight race with Jacksonville (1-11) for Trevor Lawrence. Winning that game does absolutely nothing positive for you.

Its not quite as comical as Zorn calling the swing gate TWICE in his lame duck coaching season but its close and I loved the swing gate when it was happening live. Perfect cherry on top to a complete shit show of a season.

Re: Around the NFL week 13

Anyone who wants Wentz on this team is smoking something. Just because the Eagles paid him a cap-killing salary doesn’t mean he’s good. He’s running for his life and now has happy feet on every play.

We don’t need to trade for the top draft pick. Just let Kyle Smith draft for a QB with no advice or interference from Dan Snyder.
Kyle is amazing and has partially built this team using low draft picks, UDFA and castoffs on one- year contracts. A team is lucky to get those type of players to just be a Special Team ace. Not a legitimate starter in their rookie or second season!!

Promote Kyle Smith to GM and let him pick our future QB with our first draft pick. With all our draft picks and all that cap money we can fill the biggest holes on this team. With Rivera and this comeback season we will attract good or very good FA who want to hitch themselves to a team on the rise!!

That is a great point Warthog. This team has not had much luck luring the top FAs without having to overpay for them. It is big (or has the potential to be big) to actually have a team that can compete with anyone, with a winning culture, a more than competent coaching staff, etc. It definitely makes a difference.

Agreed though I'd be tempted to trade down if we end up picking after the #12 slot we're currently projected into. With the top 2 (3?) expected to be gone by then, it could be a big reach when we have other needs. BPA for me, then look at a prospect QB in round 2 or maybe 3. Smith looks capable with holding down the fort next year if needs be.

Re FA additions ... Alex Santos was in charge of pro scouting. I have no idea what percent credit Smith or Santos get for Wes Schweitzer, KPL, Logan Thomas.

Hopefully it was mostly Kyle Smith.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Eagles will bench QB Carson Wentz for Week 14 against the Saints.
Jalen Hurts will get the call for an exceptionally tough matchup. The Eagles had no other choice after Wentz completely bottomed out against the Packers, completing just one pass for eight yards to wide receivers in roughly 38 minutes of play. Completing 57.4 percent of his throw and averaging an awful 6.0 yards per attempt, Wentz has just one more passing touchdown (16) than interception.

Because if you take the time to think about the logistics of it, it seems insane. Do you think Woody Johnson or one of his top lieutenants took the time to relay a message down to Gregg Williams that in the off-chance the game came down to one or two final plays, he needed to send a call that would give the Raiders the best chance to win?

Does Woody Johnson have a direct headset line to Gregg? Or does Woody Johnson send his assistant on the sideline a message to give to Gregg? Or does Johnson's assistant give the message to Gase who gives the message to Gregg? Or did Gase call the D and use Gregg as a scapegoat? Did Woody Johnson's assistant bypass Gase entirely and give the direct message to Gregg? What was the message? "Hey Gregg need you to blow the game here, can't lose that #1 pick in the 50/50 chance Trevor Lawrence declares for the draft." Did his assistant tell Gregg to call Cover 0? What kind of timeframe was this accomplished in? Did everything go down in the 20 seconds Gregg has to make the call? Did it happen with several minutes left in the 4th before they had any idea the game would come down to the last 20 seconds? Alls I'm saying is if we're gonna make asinine conspiracy theories, we need some sort of smoking gun to establish credibility. If not, you're just talking out of your ass.

BTW the alternative is that a coordinator with 20 years of calling aggressive defense made an aggressive call that he thought was ballsy AF and it ended up costing them the game.
