His rookie contract is fully guaranteed, 8Mil cap hit next year.
There is no type of clause in there that says if we have to release him because of breaking team rules / league rules etc that we don't have to pay the whole thing? |
welcome, here to support Old Dominion alum Keinicke Im guessing. Must be cool to see an alum on the front page of espn etc
Lifetime suffering Redskin fan and ODU is my alma mater. Heinicke was great at the FCS level, and became starter midway through his freshman year. As I posted on another thread, Heinicke has all the tools except one, and his size makes him injury-prone at this level, particularly with how much he scrambles. Thrilled to see a really good "kid" get a shot and as happy to hear that he was finishing up his engineering degree when Washington picked him up - should tell you something right there. At ODU his sophomore year, he threw for 730 yards in a 64-61 win over New Hampshire (then a D-1 record). That was a game a helluva lot more people say they attended then actually were there - it was just spectacular. |

I'll consider posting a video or two once I hit 10 posts.

Re: Haskins released
Andrew Siciliano
@AndrewSiciliano Washington has drafted 12 QB in the 1st round… Only ONE has a winning record with the franchise: HOF Sammy Baugh. He retired in 1952. |

they played in college together and Haskins was good in his one year playing in college. |

I think that ship sailed when the team worked something out with the league to allow him to play, despite DH putting himself at risk of being exposed to COVID. As much as I hate having his sorry ass count against the cap, I'd rather not have a distraction of the team fighting for money from his contract. |

Re: Haskins released
Good for Ron. IMO his career is over. He isn't NFL QB material. He may get a shot at the XFL just cause he was a 1st rounder. He doesn't have the talent to play QB in the NFL.

If it took him 2 years to learn lessons (and it still looks like he didn't learn anything) I doubt he gets a second chance. He's shown no sign of advancing since week 1 in camp last year. Yet another OSU QB that can't make it as a pro. |
Re: Haskins released
Peace out loser. Hopefully he uses this as a learning opportunity. There's much more to playing QB in this league than posting videos of yourself tossing bombs, shirtless, in the summer to Antonio Brown.
He did all that for fame, the dude just doesn’t get it. Brett Favre would always say how being a starting QB in the NFL is not just a job, it’s literally your life. Haskins only cares about the flash not the grind |

The fact that a guy signed off the street 3 weeks ago showed better knowledge of the offense than him was just pathetic. I know that Heinicke has worked with Scott Turner before, but still, no excuse for DH to still be so limited at this point in year 2. |
Re: Haskins released
A someone said, it's about time. It is unfortunate that he wasted his opportunity. In one sense, I wish him well. Just not with Washington.

Re: Haskins released
I wish him well, just no with Washington. Sorry for the duplicate post. Blame the computer.

How many more times does Dan Snyder need to embarrass himself before he realizes the mess he creates when he sticks his finger in something he knows nothing about.

On that 4&2 Haskins had both Thomas and Sims sitting wide open underneath, he decided to run.. all of the “draft gurus” said he was so smart at OSU.. well clearly that was all on the coaching and not Haskins. Kudos to Jay Gruden for seeing it way before anyone else did |

Hopefully the Eagles sign him to pick his brain lol.

Funny how this all went down. It was really Guice who did most of the damage that day. Ron has now cut both of them. |
Re: Haskins released
According to Joel Corry (never heard of him): Claiming Dwayne Haskins through waivers would put that team on the hook for his fully guaranteed 2021 ($1,805,602) & 2022 base salaries ($2,460,903), which total $4,266,505 plus one week's worth of his 2020 salary ($67,665). 1)Smith (if healthy) 2)Heineken 3)montez Thats our depth chart currently. Possibly with Thomas as 4 if the shit really hits the fan. |
Re: Haskins released
Go get Matt Stafford this off season and get him 2 -3 weapons to go along with AG and Terry. Hell I'd even take Matt Ryan.
I don't see Ron drafting a rookie to lead the team unless it would be Trevor Lawrence (No chance that happens) |

Dak Prescott
Ryan Fitzpatrick Jamies Winston Mitchell Trubisky Cam Newton Philip Rivers Nate Sudfield Joe Flacco Robert Griffin III Andy Dalton Tyrod Taylor Jacoby Brissett List of Free Agent QB's in 2021 |

Matt stafford ... if the price is right !

I was gonna take this opportunity to shit on Haskins one more time, but I try not to be one for overkill.
Hope his renaissance act works out, because he won't get another opportunity if his next one doesn't work. |

Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
If RR had any interest in Newton he'd have had him here instead of Allen. He played on a small contract in NE, and would have done so here. And having seen him this year, I'd be even more surprised if RR showed any interest now. I'd consider Fitz if a) AS retires and b) we go with a development (Cousins like) prospect in the lower rounds. If Dallas really let Prescott walk, I'd see what he can do (no guarantee he can play 100% after that ankle injury), and if that happened he'd love to stick it to the Cowboys. |

Can you give me one example of Newton's diva-like behavior from this season? Other than that I agree, he is washed up. |
