Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason
New NFL Salary Cap: $180M, down from $200M in 2020
-Washington has $38 million in cap space, 5th most in NFL. -Cowboys have $19M in space -Giants under $1M in space -Eagles cap is an absolute mess, as much as $47 million over the new cap JP |
Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason
I think JP is jumping the gun a bit by calling it the new cap. 180 is the new floor, up from 175, but not the final cap yet.

The real question is lube or no lube? Tough choices to make for them if it is 180. |

Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason
Philadelphia has agreed to trade Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for a 2021 third-round pick and a conditional 2022 second-round pick that could turn into a first, league sources tell

Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason
If that's all they got for Wentz, Mariota is only worth a 4th or 5th
|
Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason
Wentz is going to start there. So it's a 3rd this year and a 1st next year, unless he gets hurt.
I actually think even a 3rd and a 2nd is too much, even if it doesn't become a 1st, especially considering his contract. |
Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason
Considering his injury history, and the awful year he had last year, it sure seems like a lot to give up. I mean the Eagles couldn't afford to keep them anyway right?

It was the other way around. I am waiting to hear the financial details, but the Iggles are taking a huge financial hit in trading him. |

I agree, I don't see how the Eagles could've expected more for him. Basically if he starts 3/4 of the season they get a 1st and a 3rd for their back up with an awful injury history... Now if it works out for him long term in Indy, the Colts made a very good trade too. But I really don't see how the Eagles could've gotten more... |
Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason
Pretty crazy how the Eagles went from SB champs to hottest mess of the division so quickly.

No doubt. Glad someone else took those reigns. |

Eagles are really going w/ Hurts? lol.
At this point Wentz isn't any better than Brissett. |

Wow you are right! Per Keim: The Eagles will carry a $33.8 million dead-money cap charge for Carson Wentz in 2021. That will be the largest dead money charge in NFL history. Previous record would have been the $22.2 million the Rams will carry this year for Jared Goff. |

Gonna have to cut like half their team if that's the case. |

Glad we dodged that bullet.
Completely ridiculous trade by the Colts. |

Way more than they should've gotten. I wouldn't want Wentz for free given his contract. |

You know why? Mindset and work ethic. There are a lot of Eagles players and coaches who have come out publicly to say that Wentz doesn’t take accountability for poor in field decisions he has made, deflects blame to teammates, and doesn’t make an effort to do the little things coaches have asked him to do. He’s a major tool. Colts overpaid and are going to see a Foles 2.0 scenario next season. |

Not to excuse Wentz, but to me it seems that the team, after their Super Bowl win, never put any good pieces around Wentz. Their WRs, TE, and OL is very old and should have been replaced a long time ago. When your WR2 is DJax, you are in trouble. That being said, it would not surprise me at all what you just said, given the crazy regression he went through this year. |

And they haven’t cut half their team to get under the cap. And a new coach that seriously should not be a head coach. 🤷*♂️ |
Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason
No NFC East was really "good" last year. Each team had their own issues, and somebody had to win that division. In my opinion the best team won.
Ryan Clark, that's just a dumb thing to say. Philly will be trash next season, and it won't matter who the QB is. Dallas has too many holes to plug to be in the mix next year. WFT and NYG will probably be two teams competing for the Division title next year, and if WFT manages to 'fix' the QB position and add on defense, they are the best team. |
Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason
Marvin Jones is pretty much saying he's out of Detroit. Assuming they do go ahead and tag Golladay, is he a viable option if we can't get a better FA like Robinson? 31yo but still capable...

Amazing how all of you fell for it. One guy puts a hot take out there and immediately 5 of you are talking about what a dumb take it is, ESPN played you all for suckers. How exactly do you quantify if Philly has a better team than DC at this exact point in time? It's a question that can only be answered with opinions. |

Here's how you quantify it. 2020: WFT 2, PHI 0 Head Coach: WFT > PHI QB: WFT > PHI RBs: WFT > PHI WRs: WFT > PHI TE: WFT < PHI O-line: WFT > PHI D-line: WFT > PHI LBs: WFT > PHI Secondary: WFT > PHI Salary Cap: WFT > PHI |

Wants to get paid and play for a contender to quote him from PFT, I don't think RR will pay a 31 yr old WR top dollar and we don't have the QB he will want |

I don’t think putting that comparison together took much effort. It’s pretty obvious and when the teams look different in a month, we will look a lot better than they do. |
