Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
I'm in 2 minds on RR. Either he is in over his head with all the non-HC stuff, or he's playing the long game of getting the highest draft pick next year to try get that franchise QB...
Problem is that there isn't a clear franchise or even 1st round quality QB that will be in the 2022 draft. I've read that if Kyle Trask or Mills would have been in the 2022 draft they'd be ranked higher than any QB being tracked for the 2022 draft (and neither of those two were drafted in the 1st round). |

Mentioned this in another thread yesterday. Dude from ole miss is the only one that looks like he might shoot up the boards at this point. Gonna have to wait and see where we fall and find out more about him. Trying to remember his name without googling but i cant. |
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Pickett is definitely one of the best if not the best Qb in the country. He looks like an NFL QB.
|
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
QB I’ve liked is Desmond Ridder from Cincy.
|
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
I've been keeping my eye on him too. I liked him last year before he decided to stay in school for another year.

He’s flying a little under the radar but his experience as like a 3-4 year starter, athletic, arm strength, size, natural leader, winning results, good pocket awareness and has that off script play. I don’t know if he is a top 10 pick, but I think he is a first round QB talent. He would be my choice as a guy who can be coached and come in and play |
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
I hate trying to self-scout QB's. Most college offenses all look the same now and they are no where similar to what teams can and do run in the NFL. Makes it very difficult to try to guess if they can transfer their results to the NFL. Ridder is a perfect example of that. Has the physical skills, but their offense is all RPO stuff and half his yards are little routes thrown around the LOS.

You can say that about a big chunk of NFL starters right now. |
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
The pieces are nice but without a QB this team is going nowhere. WFT needs to keep drafting QBs until they finally hit on one.

It is but teams that need a QB need to keep trying. |

Agree, it's really hard to judge who is going to be good or not... Herbert and Allen are prime examples , nobody saw them being this good. Then u look at Fields and he looks absolutely lost out there |
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Also Z Wilson has had some plays theis year that make u go wow.. But he's also had some that are like "WTF" Allen Rookie year like

I will be shocked if Fields becomes a dominate NFL QB |

Fields shouldn't be playing. He's totally lost out there.

Impressed with Mac Jones all year

It be interesting to flip Mac and Justin, how much of the franchise depends on your ability to grow? NE has a good track record, realize they had Brady but still a great franchise. Bears not so much and their QB carousel spins as fast ours. |
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Mac jones is way better than I expected, in fact he's doing it with some very average WRs. Big props to him

He's lost but he is also no accurate enough right now, dude is all over the place. He's a rookie so lets see what he can do in a couple years. Right now it looks like the Bears traded all that for nothing tho |

I think Bears receiving talent is underated with Robsinson, Mooney and Kmet. When they get that receiving RB back too, that will help. |

I was watching a film breakdown of Bears-Packers I can't remember who, but they said Nagy is running an offense that is comparable in complexity to Green Bay but the major difference is Rodgers can run the most complex schemes vs a rookie. IDK watching what they were showing it made sense at the time. |
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
^yeah I could see that…these guys just need more time.

Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Given the lack of quality QBs in the 2022 draft I just don't see the Redskins drafting that position in the 1st, so what is it we do with our 1st round pick? I think FS Hamilton probably makes the most sense given our likely draft position. Another possibility is trading the 1st for a veteran QB (Rodgers?).

I’ve seen him play a couple times and Hamilton is amazing. |
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Could always trade it for more picks the following year when, fingers crossed, there will be more viable options

We can go ahead and remove the "Too Soon" part from the thread title.

Over the last 4 weeks (all losses) the team has averaged a whopping 13PPG..
Draft Offense |

Draft Offense
They have made multiple Redzone trips, long sustained drives mixing run and pass effectively, only to stop running inside the 20. That has nothing to do with players - that is play calling. They also have backups on their offensive line. The defense still is giving up over 300 per game I believe. Most critical need - qb, after that both sides need help. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk |

Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
I've looked at our last 3 drafts and the more I think about it, the more I come to the conclusion our single biggest mistake in the last 3 years was picking Haskins. Thanks Dan. Had we had a stronger HC (RR?) back then we'd probably never have taken him and instead bided our time to 2020 (the 2019 QB pool was pretty awful aside from Murray).
For me, without the benefit of hindsight, I'd have taken Burns instead, or traded back a few places and taken Fant or Savage (maybe one of the OT's that went next?). That would have addressed TE or S, and left us to pick up a new QB in 2020. 2020 would have depended on how well we did without DH. Say Allen had been starting instead, maybe we'd have had a better record but I doubt it. Assuming we'd still have a top 5 record, then it becomes easier to bypass Young and take Tua or Herbert. Picking 5th would have been ideal as Herbert would likely have fallen into our lap. Then 2020 season could easily have had us a) winning the division with maybe 10-6 instead of 7-9 record and b) maybe getting someone like Darrisaw to protect Herbert, or if he'd slipped, Davis anyway. Then we'd likely be having a very similar draft to what we actually did. I know it's ifs and buts, however, it's clear had we not picked DH we'd have every chance of being in a much better position now. Just wish DS would see that and realise he should keep his nose out of draft affairs (if not anything else to do with the roster makeup). |
