Bengals agreed to terms with LG Ted Karras, formerly of the Patriots, on a three-year, $18 million contract.

Bengals are going get 2 guards today probably still much less than Schreff total contract number. Smart

Nothing wrong with that. We as fans sometimes forget it's a business and the window of opportunity for these players is short maybe 5 years at best.I wish him luck.

Exactly why I didn't want to sign Scherff this offseason. We can extend Flowers and Wes, and probably still sign a guy that can compete to start or be a good backup, for the same or less money that Scherff will get by himself.

Bye bey Kurk Scherff.

Nothing wrong with going for max money as such , just don't appreciate it when guys know they want to get the biggest contract but treat the fanbase like idiots with all of the fake sincerity about playing here, even when its clear that its fake. You can always attract certain players with big money, but you do have to wonder how committed they are to winning once the guarantees are activated

Its a business. Scherff seems like a guy who will retire before 35 and go off living a nice country hunting life. Maybe do guides and what not.

Hes missed a bunch of games but I dont put him in the Doctson category as Ive seen the guy go out of a game looking like hes in a lot of pain only for him return a few snaps later.

But he does seem like a guy that will call it a year early vs a year late.

No bad words for Scherff just hated taking a guard in general at 4 on top of having a guy like Leonard Williams dropping to us.

We offered to make him the highest paid guard in the league and franchised him twice.

He didn’t want to be here…everything he said was bullshit

Jets agreed to terms with LG Laken Tomlinson, formerly of the 49ers, on a three-year, $40 million contract.

So the jets back up plan to Schreff

4 guards landing major contracts today

James Daniels could be a good replacement, but he's going to be looking for $ so probably better drafting a G.

Be interesting to see what Scherrf gets, the top of the market is currently $16m, if he signs for that I wonder if the offer was still on the table from Washington but got withdrawn after the Wentz signing

Norwell from the Jags may be someone to keep an eye on, was a probowler in Carolina before he went to Jacksonville

Considering that Scherff was demanding more than the highest paid G money and had his last full season in something like 2016, no way it was worth it -- you get him for about 2/3 of any season.

I don't think there was even a contract offer on the table was there?

I don't know, but it would be interesting to find out. It was reported that Washington remained in touch and Mayhew stated that they had offered top of the market money, which implies at least $16.5m was offered.

Holy f*ck, I don't know what the guaranteed money, but this seems ridiculous for a WR that hasn't hit 1000 yds and was playing behind DHop:

@AdamSchefter
Jaguars are giving former Cardinals WR Christian Kirk a four-year deal worth up to $84 million deal, per source.

Some updated details:

@RapSheet
It’s a 4-year deal worth $72M, source said with a max value of $84M. A huge deal for Christiain Kirk.

Came here to lament this.

Should have signed Terry to a long term prior to this madness (and I assume they tried). Maybe the Kirk deal is 4 yrs 72M on paper but really a 2 yr deal with like 30M guaranteed over first 2 years.

Seems the Jag owner figured out its really hard to win on the field but, season tickets and sponsors are sold in the off season and you can win the off season.

Sell "hope" every offseason.

Unfortunately Terry isn't eligible for a new contract until Wednesday.

Jags have a ton of money to spend and the CBA says they have to spend the majority of it.

They have Lawrence under a rookie contract for 4 more years so these signings don't have a long term impact.

The alternative is go bargain basement shopping with bums like Terrell Pryor, Paul Richardson, and Curtis Samuels.

Glad you said this - I was about to start wtf'ing at the lack of an extension before FA. That Kirk deal only drove Terry's price up.

He's a good player, but we are more than ok on the interior of the D-line. Could address depth at that position in the draft this year, but I don't believe it is a priority. Have the luxury of waiting until next year if they want.

Re: Free Agency Around the NFL Style

Chargers agreed to terms with CB J.C. Jackson, formerly of the Patriots, on a five-year, $82.5 million contract.

Jackson gets $40 million guaranteed. It's essentially the same deal Byron Jones got from the Dolphins last offseason, putting Jackson among the league's highest-paid cornerbacks at $16.5 million per year. It's actually a little less than some were expecting Jackson to get, so this is a huge win for the Chargers. Bolstering the defense has been a priority for GM Tom Telesco, adding ball-hawking Jackson to the acquisition of Khalil Mack last week. Jackson leads the NFL in interceptions since entering the league as an UDFA in 2018 with 25 of them.

If that turd of a HC misses the playoffs with this talent, Chargers need to fire everyone
Okay .. Steelers are considered by most as a very stable highly productive front office and respected by most … they just signed trubisky and most Commanders fans thought he was horrible and wanted nothing to do with him .. it tells me several things .. The Steelers just like us realize there is NO instant starter in this years draft .. only project types . So I wonder if Steelers fans will hammer there team like we hammer our team ( I know there are a few of us that Are ok with the Wentz signing) .. does anyone out there think Trubisky will be better than Wentz .. I think Pittsburg would have taken Wentz if we had not ( the only negative I see with Wentz is his cost ..
I think Mitch and Wentz will probably play pretty similar ball. Both will be up and down. Neither will most likely outshine the other.

McLaurin may not want to stay here folks. He may want to try and play for a better franchise that has a consistent QB.

Scherff said enough is enough. I'm out. He just didn't want to be here and made no bones about it. He left here for the Jags. That is just sad.
