Looking at the initial reactions of the Bradberry to the Eagles signing, I'm convinced that some of ya'll want the old days of Vinny/Dan back.

...but they won't admit it. 😃
Some people definitely miss those days of being champs of the offseason despite it getting us nowhere
I'm not sure the secondary is a real need. I look at Bradberry as more of a luxury signing if they were to do such a thing. LB remains the priority and Ron has said as much. As MTK said too, players that are still available are in no hurry to sign at this point. Collins' salary comes off the books next month. I still think we'll add a Veteran LB and resign McL before the season.
Agree. A good coach can eliminate the impact of almost any quality defensive player by scheming their offense appropriately. I'd prefer get a quality MLB for defense and then passing offense, passing offense, passing offense.

Agreed. That's not our strongest squad, but I definitely do not see DB as a need.
They under achieved last year, and hopefully both players and coaching know they got some work to do. But talent is not the issue here.

Re: Around the NFL 2022: Post Draft Edition

I may be in the minority here and I certainly don't disagree that LB is a much greater need than CB, but I think CB remains a need. Fuller had a solid season, but St. Juste didn't (and got multiple concussions) and neither did Jackson (although I recall questions about whether we were using him to take best advantage of his skillset). I realize that the latter two could bounce back in 2022, but we'll need them to and there are obviously no guarantees.

Bradberry has the second most pass breakups in the league during the last 6 years. The CB with the most will now start opposite him -- Darius Slay. I don't like that at all.

No one is clamoring for clownville again.. yall just sound like sour grapes b/c we DIDNT end up getting him. Stats speak for themselves and he would have made the 2ndary better, instead he went to the sheagles. Not good.

Chief X_Phackter 05-18-2022 04:59 PM

Re: Around the NFL 2022: Post Draft Edition

I wouldn't have been against the idea of bringing Bradberry in. Sure, he would likely make the secondary better. However, either he didn't want to be here, or they didn't want to pay him what he wanted, knowing they still want to upgrade the LB position and sign Terry. Now, if the sit on their hands until the season starts and do nothing else - then I'll have a problem, but I doubt that happens. Still more than enough time to upgrade the roster.

Re: Around the NFL 2022: Post Draft Edition

he would have been an upgrade... would the $10m be better spent on a new terry contract? probably.

Re: Around the NFL 2022: Post Draft Edition

I didn't expect him to get 10M. Perfectly fine not signing him. It just sucks that he went to the Eagles. They just got better.

If I'm Goodell, I'd let him play this season and suspend him the following season. Watson has a ridiculous low salary number this year expecting a suspension.

The Real Sports on HBO interview with the DW victims is pretty eye opening.

Just watch it.

then just put aside the legal stuff for a moment. Imagine going to a fortune 500 company asked to be its CEO and there are reports of you doing these things to women out there. how can any Cleveland player remotely take DW seriously or are not disgusted by him. How does DW even get the nerve to walk into that locker room???

If i was DW i take the what ever money i have now leave the country and just go hide the rest of my life, its so embarrassing.

Marion Barber was a beast for a number of years -- always respected his game. He played with an attitude and never shied away from contact. I always thought he was underappreciated by Dallas (kind of like what they're doing now with Pollard, in fact). Sad news -- 38 is pretty darn young.

Ryan Fitzpatrick to retire. Big kudos to him for surviving in the NFL for 17 years as a journeyman QB. The last journeyman QB that lasted a long time in NFL that I could think of is Vinny Testaverde.

I really don’t know why Watson attorney is doing radio interviews parsing out the happiness of a happy ending. Saying sex workers who give them are happy to do…that’s great I’m sure that’s the case for the thousands who are human trafficked in this country and around the world, forced into sex worked in an industry rife with abuse. Jesus man, your client is a creep period. A piece of shit.

His words:

A "happy ending" in terms of a massage is generally defined as a sex act at the end, according to dictionary.com. After the radio interview, Hardin told USA TODAY Sports he defines “happy endings” as consensual oral sex.

“Happy endings are not a crime, and a happy ending is a consensual happy ending,”
He needs to sit for 2 more years
Just glad this isn't our issue to deal with. The Browns constructed the contract where he makes peanuts this year (based on QB/NFL salaries). And everyone knows about it. So I think it might hurt Cleveland more in the long run by structuring it that way. NFL might suspend him longer than just this season, solely based on how little Watson makes this year. Not arguing if that is right or wrong, just estimating.

A lot of it comes down to how Mayfield reacts to it. If he puts his ego aside and plays as long as Watson is suspended in hope to get a good contract for another team, it'll ease it out for the Browns, if he says "f you I'm not playing a snap for ya trade me", the Browns will be in a very tough spot.
