Williams, Blache, Haz, Barry, Manusky, Proud Boy..
I do believe Williams could turn this D around, with these players...but I seriously doubt he would ever get a call...nor would he want one from this organization.
That is true about three teams in the division, but not Washington. Wrap your head around some of these numbers:
Since 2000, the Eagles, Cowboys, and Giants all have a better winning percentage within the division than outside of it. That's only mathematically possible because of how horrendous Washington has been inside the division.

The Giants have the second worst divisional record in the East since 2000 with a winning percentage of .500; Washington's divisional winning percentage in that span? .360.

They're the only team in the division that is below .500 in divisional games in over the last twenty seasons. That means that collectively all of the other teams have winning divisional records because Washington sucks so badly against them.

I've brought this up many times in the past, and twenty years of data, with the results of nearly 1,500 games played among the four teams, bear this out: The other three teams in the division step it up for divisional games, while Washington brings it down.
WOW,HOW FRICKIN PATHETIC

Eagles look pretty healthy.

Hassan Reddick is LP w a knee, CB Avonte maddox LP w back, only guy DNP is a low end WR.

Does the HC have to do marketing now, too? Or maybe they're just trying out the executives in different roles to see if any of them can do anything right.

Week to week league, short week for the Eagles, division game, anything can and often does happen.
The key to a Washington victory is limiting the Eagles rushing offense and our own defense showing up to play.....

I think every third post for the past two or 3 years is a fire JDR or Rivera post, especially on game day thread

William Jackson III

We take zero pleasure in continuing to shed light on Jackson’s poor performance, but what else are we going to do? Lie and pretend like he’s playing well?

Through two games, Jackson has allowed nine catches on 10 targets for 137 yards, which averages out to 15.2 yards per catch. According to PFF, he’s allowed 48 yards after the catch, which emphasizes how soft his coverage has been, and the touchdown he gave up to Amon-Ra St. Brown on Sunday wasn’t pretty.

And finally, Jackson is surrendering a 152.1 passer rating when targeted. Remember, the Commanders have played Trevor Lawrence and Jared Goff. Not like we’re talking about Patrick Mahomes or Justin Herbert. Far from it

That was me lol. Although after watching him flop like a fish in the end zone as the WR caught a TD, I gave up on him. That was terrible.

There's been plenty of good, impactful players brought in/drafted. Not every move pans out the way you hope, and that goes for every team.

Easy to "highlight" the bad ones isn't it...?

Take a look around, there's plenty of good talent on this team. They didn't fall from the sky.

True, but it is also the moves they haven't made or positions they didn't draft well. Most here have been screaming for a bona fide MLB and additional depth at LB, it is easy to see the value of that when you look at the failures of our D. We all love Holcombs infectious personality I am sure, but I don't think anyone here thinks he is more than a decent starting LB, and certainly not a MLB

Last year the CB room looked OK but this year, even discounting the WJ3 issue, the depth here is non existant.

I am sure someone would mention letting Settle leave for peanuts then using a valuable 2nd pick on his replacement, especially as we wont have one in next years draft

Having 6 great young tight ends is not going to prevent the other team from scoring

Im a WJ3 ..... defender? enabler?

He hasnt played well. (he admits that)
He said hes a pro and this isnt his first year in the scheme so he has to play better, no excuses

He is a good press man corner ... and we've used him for 2 years now as a soft cover corner.

Should WJ3 be better by now, regardless of what coaches ask of him? Yes

Should JDR have figured this out by now - either through coaching him better at soft man or putting him in better spots? yes

--------

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJZWECsE2d0

^^ 12 min highlights of the Lions game

First 3 defensive snaps shown:

0:05 - WJ3 (bottom of screen, #3) playing off LOS
0:23 - soft off LOS
0:59 - lined up on LOS!! but then backpedals 8 yards off the LOS prior to snap

Watch the games, pause rewind and see where we have him playing pre snap. 80% of the time hes 10 yards off the LOS and has to wait for a receiver to run their route in front of him or run by him.

-------------

Hes needs to play better ... but JDR needs to play to his strengths at this point.

JDR needs to scheme and coach

fucking frustrating to watch no adjustments or wrinkles. Only adjustments we made last year re the 3rd long and long LB coverage problem .. was Bostic getting injured and forcing JDR to make a change

@JohnKeim:

Looking at last year's second game vs. the Eagles: Washington rushed with four on 15 of 27 pass attempts. Hurts was 11-15, 125 yards on those plays. Considered pressured on 4 rushes.

When Washington rushed 5+, Hurts was 5-10, 77 yards, 1 sack. Considered pressured on 7 rushes.

I say it is official. We are rushing 4 all game.

Hopefully Sweat and the other edge guy can stay outside the T, stay responsible for the edge and not get carried away with trying inside moves.

Hopefully Allen/Payne can create pressure up the middle and speed jalen's clock up and make him uncomfortable

---

Watched the 1st haf highlights linked above .. every single D formation shown has WJ3 off the LOS by a lot (excluding goalline). 2 times he lines up on LOS he backpedals pre snap.

Offensive coord knowing exactly what you are going to do with your outside corner .. a big problem.

Same exact fucking set up for WJ3 every fucking snap.

JDR needs to change it up on looks.

I simply said someone was wondering why WJ was catching so much grief in here. Never said that person (apparently you) was defending or enabling him. Lol.

If someone (apparently you) was wondering why he was catching so much shit that post tells you all you need to know.

Think you took my comment the wrong way. Didn’t mean you were defending him. Just that you appeared to be confused as to why he was catching shit.

Lot's of good posts on here about JDR. Agree with this 100.

I don't think he's in over his head or his defensive style is outdated, I believe the biggest issue is communication and relationships.

I also believe, like others, he won't be fired anytime soon so RR can fire him later to appease the critics.

I'm really curious about what's going on behind the scenes. JDR has been around long enough to know you don't "coach" players in the press. Saying what he did about Davis publicly, burns any relationship down immediately and
permanently.

What's baffling and without explanation is RR backing JDR up the next day and seemingly pushing it further by saying something about Davis not having much time.

Seems extremely dysfunctional.
