G1 .. you know I love ya but this is going to be frenemy week it seems.
Who would have thought pre season wed be playoff eligible teams over .500? I am really really pumped up for this game. Might be a mandatory jersey day on sunday in my household .. havent had one of those in a long time. Re: Vagiants Pre Game Thread Sunday 1 pm
We need to see if we can grab an early lead so that the Giants lean away from trying to run with Barkley. Make Jones win with his arm; I don't think he can.
lol that got me laughing actually out loud .. i feel like people use "lo"l way to liberally
------------ Giants run D (at least ranking wise) is bad, so I hope this game comes down to us running the ball bc if we can run it 40 times, get 150 yds, control clock, no negative plays = Heinike not tasked with throwing on known passing plays on a 3rd and long. The "due" theory is working greatly against us. We are due for a lost fumble in our own end, we are due for a heinike int at an inopportune time, we are due for a major injury. As long as we need multiple things to go right to win (opponent muffs punt deep, int in end zone to end game), this razors edge formula should be win one, lose one, win one, lose one.
Just watched last week's Giants @ Cowboys game, NY's run D is legit bad. We must exploit that and control the game. There are also ways to bring pressure on Jones, so let's hope our Dline keeps playing as well as recently. Only worry is their running game, Mayo and Bostic better be in a good day, and JDR will have to scheme around our lack of speed at LB, wether it be blitzing DB or mixing in some 5 men front... but be ready for a couple of frustrating drives with some frustrating big runs on 2nd and 10+ and 3rd and 4. |
Re: Vagiants Pre Game Thread Sunday 1 pm
I can feel the love but in honesty I picked a 7-8 win season so I'm happy. Schoen (the GM) and Daboll have done more then I could have hoped for and at no time did I think about playoffs and still aren't. We had no cap space and they did an amazing job, I really do like Jones and he has proven to me he can play it's his health I worry about , we were spoiled by Eli. If the Giants can win 9 games playoffs or not it's a great winning season and we haven't had one of those in 10 years. I know a few might not remember but I said before I liked Heinicke and could not understand signing of Wentz. As corny as it sounds I want a good game we're getting 5-7 people back off of injury so I have hope but it's injuries I worry about .

Concerned about the WAS injury report -- BSJ still not practicing, and Gibson didn't practice today either. We need both of those guys.

BSJ is the biggest concern IMO, since we have a 7th round rookie replacing him. I think Gibson is an added bonus, but B. Rob is a beast, and J. Williams ran very well last week. For such an important game though, you want to have those two playing though. |
Re: Vagiants Pre Game Thread Sunday 1 pm
Gibson is valuable when we are down, so it's ideal to have him in this game.
|
Re: Vagiants Pre Game Thread Sunday 1 pm
About to look at mock drafts out of boredom. But damn it's nice being in December and not really thinking about the draft. By now, I'd have usually created a [Insert Next Year] draft thread.
Rivera pulled a rabbit out of a hat. A win this Sunday would be awesome. 8-5 going into the bye would be phenomenal. |
Re: Vagiants Pre Game Thread Sunday 1 pm
One player that will make a difference as the season progresses, even if he has made a couple of bonehead plays, John Ridgeway. I was pissed we lost Settle and Ioannidis, but the vanilla gorilla has soften the blow. The more he plays, he let's Allen and Payne rest making them more efficient, sometimes they go 5 DL and he's like a wall. I can't wait to see how he develops, he's also been responsible for the D turn around, even if he cost us the Vikings game.

1. LOL 2. That game was lost as soon as Heinicke threw the backfoot interception. Everyone else, including Ridgeway, were just actors in a pre-determined play at that point (I was livid at the time, but we lost on that interception imo). |
Re: Vagiants Pre Game Thread Sunday 1 pm
vikings game could have flipped on a bunch of different plays, I think the INT was when it felt like we had just thrown it away; lost the momentum.

Agreed he's a nice surprise. And I'm not mad at him for the 2 stupid flags: -the first one is on the coaching more than anything IMO. That useless stunt in that situation is asking for trouble. -the second one is stupid but he's a rookie and it kinda happened naturally with the way the runner was stuck in his stomach, and that was still an amazing agressive play, TFL with an Oliman on him. Like Ruh said B-Rob is the beast and Williams was extremely effective last week. Compared to recent history I am feeling real good about the health of this team down the stretch. Real good. |
Re: Vagiants Pre Game Thread Sunday 1 pm
I think it was Sheehan pod, but heard the giants have problems with teams attacking there outside. That’s Gibson best use, like to see him on the field
I expect the screen game to ramp up too |

Daniel Wise is who I thought was going to have a breakout season. Breakout being he can be inked in as the DT4 as solid impact/rotation piece. Had a great PS, injured his ankle against Lions .. and now crickets. Google I cant find anything on his status. Ridgeway is being that guy. 5 down lineman is our run D. Makes sense with the depth at DL and lack thereof at LB. If we get gashed in buffalo nickel like last week, go 5 DL as our adjustment. Giants have to be preparing to scheme/adjust to counter the 5 DL so im interested to see. Throw out of 12 personnel? |
Re: Vagiants Pre Game Thread Sunday 1 pm
The Giants have a zero threats on offense outside of Barkley. Their wr corp is putrid. We contain Barkley and we win. Im not worried about their D at all.
We get them twice with a bye in the middle. Literally game planning and studying them for the better part of a month. They have to worry about Philly. We are going to end their season and catapult ours into the fucking playoffs. |
Re: Vagiants Pre Game Thread Sunday 1 pm
Radio said Giants are banged up, didnt practice on Thursday .. Adoree Jackson hasnt practiced all week. Darius Slayton is iffy.
Terry might be matched up against our old friend Fabian Moreau. ** I think both teams moved practices inside on Thursday and Wednesday so media is left in dark as to who participated and who didnt. |

I expect Turner to have some new looks come week 15. |
Re: Vagiants Pre Game Thread Sunday 1 pm
Like last week, if this team wants to consider themselves a playoff team, they have to win this one.
I hope we win the toss, take the ball, and score first. A nice long 7-8 minute drive for a TD will crush their spirits and put this defense in a position to attack. |
Re: Vagiants Pre Game Thread Sunday 1 pm
@PeteHaileyNBCS
For Sunday at New York, Dax Milne, BSJ and Trai Turner will be OUT. Antonio Gibson and Chase Young are listed as questionable. Feel good about the former. No clue about the latter. |
Re: Vagiants Pre Game Thread Sunday 1 pm
I think the Giants get this one, we get the next one. This is just a better spot for NY. Also if it is windy, which it seems it always is this time of year in the Meadowlands, how are we going to be able to pass the ball? Can you imagine Taylor's balls in the wind? lol. smh.

Slayton isn’t underrated. He underperforms. He has the size and speed to be really good, but he just isn’t. He is usually good for a long ball here and there but if he finishes the year with 45 catches it is alot. |
Re: Vagiants Pre Game Thread Sunday 1 pm
Speaking of Ridgeway, here’s how he ended up with the commanders:
Rivera said: On if he was surprised that Ridgeway became available: "Yes. Those kinds of guys, they're the kind of guys that you look for, especially guys that, like you said, he was a draft pick. And so you put a draft pick on the waivers, and everybody goes, 'Whoa.' Then as soon as you see the name out there, you start calling people that are gonna give you an honest answer. 'Hey, what kind of guy is he?' We had a young man that did an internship for us, Mark Cala, he's at Arkansas. So we called Mark right away and asked Mark. He said, 'Coach, he's the kind of guy you guys want.' So that's all I needed to know. Mark did a great job for us and I've known Mark a few years. So, you ask people what kind of guy he is and he tells you it, trust me, I believed him. So, we put the claim in and we were fortunate to get him." |
Re: Vagiants Pre Game Thread Sunday 1 pm
Per Keim:
Washington has activated OL Wes Schweitzer from the reserve/injured list. The Commanders also have elevated WR/PR Alex Erickson off the practice squad. He’ll fill in once more for Injured Dax Milne. |

We have an opportunity to make a statement by swiping them, and if we lose the first one our chances of getting immediate revenge are high. So nothing to lose and a lot to win, against a division rival that hasn't been impressive lately... We won't beat down anybody this year, but I don't see why we don't win this one.
